Hullabaloo - Click It or Ticket!

Florida State Patrol has a Click it or Ticket, Buckle Up or Pay Up crackdown that started May 21st.

Florida's seat belt law states all drivers and front seat passengers must buckle up and all under the age of 18 are required to wear a seat belt.

This is a simulator that shows what happens when a truck rolls over at 20 MPH. as it rotated the family of dummies he had placed in side without seat belts, all flew out the windows.

This officer said 7 people die on Florida Highways every day.

Buckle Up Out There, I always do and it saved my life when my SUV rolled three times a few years ago.

Where were you when they had this demonstration? Did you happen on it by accident, or plan on going? Scary...

Great idea of the police showing how important it is to buckle up. I always do - and it's your life insurance while on the road.

A demonstration like this is more powerful that just words.

That is a great demonstration, it really shows what happens when folks don't wear their seat belts.

Washington has had the Click it or Ticket for several years. I can't imagine why anyone would risk their life by not buckling up.

That's a really effective demonstration. I cannot for the life of me understand why people don't take this easy-to-do and effective safety step.

Drivers and ALL passengers have to buckle up here and kids under a certain height / age have to have booster seats. Pity I ate Mums seat belts... hehe! Deccy x

This something I don't even think about anymore. It is the law and so my car doesn't move until we are all buckled in.

Oh yes! We always buckle up. And our Honda beeps at us, if we forget! :-)

So glad you were wearing yours, when the accident occurred. We would never have met, if not. :-))))) And that outcome is unthinkable!

Good thing you were wearing yours a few years back. Don't even think about it now...I just do it!

This is a demonstration that every driver should see, but especially new drivers. My son knew two high school students that died in a suv rollover two years ago. They were the driver and passenger. Neither one were wearing seat belts and they were on interstate 4. The kids in the back seat survived with injuries, because they were all wearing their seatbelts. My son just kept saying how he didn't understand why they wouldn't wear their seatbelts. Good post Sandra.

That is a great presentation. I find it hard to believe that people today would not click it!
I remember 30 years ago when I was going out with my children and my son said "Mom stop, Amber doesn't have her belt on yet!"

I used to hate being made to buckle up... I resisted it as long as possible. These days I just buckle up without thinking about it... I know that it does save lives --but I just hated someone 'making' me do it.... HA

Betsy

I'm working on two cases now where the occupants were not wearing seatbelts. Their lives were snuffed out instantly (and needlessly had they been wearing them). One was an 18-year old girl on the way to her first day of college. It's so sad. Make sure you wear your seatbelt.

In my younger days I never used to wear a seat belt. Of course it wasn't a law back then either. It wasn't until I had kids and was trying to make them wear their seat belts. Well if I didn't how could I convince them to. Now I don't go without it buckled.

I saw an episode of Doogie Howser M.D. one time that showed something similar and I've been wearing mine ever since - even before it became law.

Wow! what a realistic demonstration.

We also always wear our seat belts. This simulator is pretty impressive. I hope people -- especially teens -- pay attention.

I actually have friends who still refuse to wear seat belts, saying things like "I'm afraid of getting trapped in a burning car." And every day here in East Texas at least one person is killed on country roads because a car flipped and someone was not wearing a seat belt. I guess these people just don't value life the way some of us do - their own or others'!

We've had that law for decades, at least for the front seats, and I think it's been quite a few years since they changed it to include the back seat as well.

Wow, sadly this reminds me of a classmate of my son. She lost her life being thrown from the car in an accident.
