1887 Church in the Village

taken from inside the courthouse looking out the window
I took the above view first, then backed up to straighten the view. I prefer the above, which one do you prefer.

This church sits in the Historical Village and was built in 1887. When we were there this week, I did not take photos of the church, so have gather these to show front and rear that were taken over the years from 05 to 09.
for information and other photos of inside the church  go to 1887 Church Marker

the church is still available for worship services, weddings and funerals and other religious services.  for a fee of course. this park is open to the public free of charge, they use the church to raise funds to preserve this beautiful building.

Above and below are rear views of the church. Diane's dad mentioned the fact there is  star of David in a Methodist church.  I found that in the 1880's it was called the Star of Creation, and was a popular Christian symbol found on many churches in that century/

Of the first two pictures, I like the first one better. It is lovely, and looks quite modern inside, and in great condition. I notice that the building is kind of up on blocks...

I like the first one too. The church has quite an interesting history. I'm glad it found a home in the village so everyone can enjoy it for many years to come.

I like the first shot best but the church is a beauty. It looks like off a Christmas card. It is so neat and tidy. I can imagine that it is popular for special occasions. plenty of info too, thanks.

What a pretty little church. I like the first shot better too. I just love old building like this and it's always good to see that they are kept up and taken care of.

Sandra, I prefer the 2nd photo of the first two because the lines are cleaner and straighter. This is a great photo subject and sure you will revisit again.

I love any old white church with a steeple--and a bell that rings. I love the third photo that shows the steeple--and the inside photo. Wish I could walk in.

I like the whole window view but that may be because I'm so totally in love with hundred year plus windows. The church in it is the icing.

I like the first view better than the second, it has better balance.

Beautiful. It's too bad that the church isn't in regular use. I love it's simplicity.

Best,

I didn't know that about the Star of Creation/Star of David.
Very interesting info. I would love to visit this whole place. What a lot of terrific photo ops.

Yes, I liked the first photo too. There are a few little churches like this one around in my area and just over the border in Louisiana. I think they're all absolutely charming.

Such a pretty church. I prefer the first photo. It's so pretty there with all the trees. This church reminds me of a little church on the lake that I grew up on. It looks similar and it sat on a lot of land with trees. It's so nice to see the church being taken care of. I would imagine it to be a beautiful place to get married.

Neat Neat Neat... I love old churches --like that. When George and I travel (if we have time and are on the back roads), we stop by and check out some of the old churches in those areas... I 'could' collect churches like I do waterfalls IF I had time. Guess that will be in another lifetime.. ha
Hugs,
Betsy

What a beautiful church and so well kept up. I prefer the first picture. Thanks for that link. I checked it out once before, but now I think I will get it together and pick out my favorite Samson posts and make into a book. It will be a beginning at least, then I can decide if I want to pursue it further. Thank you.

This is a beautiful church and I love the shots of it through the window! I love old churches and this one reminds me of the old country churches that still remain that I see when traveling through the countryside.

I prefer the first one, too. It's a unique perspective.

I like the crooked church. Ha! Seriously, I love this place. I clicked on the marker information and read it. I don't know why, and this will show my ignorance, but just have never thought of FL having such deep history. Thank you so much for sharing.
