You KNOW you are OLD if....

Reflections on my kitchen table
You KNOW you are OLD if.... you entertain yourself by snapping photos of your kitchen table..

Painting of an Egret , painted by my friend, Rich's  cousin. It is 5 feet long and 2 feet wide and stunning.
You KNOW you are OLD if.... when you mention your favorite Movie stars (Clint Eastwood, Sam Elliott, Charles Bronson) the person listening, says WHO?

You KNOW you are OLD if.... you need a timer to remind you to take you 8 AM pill and when said timer has  been with you since 1980 (32 years if my math is still working) that timer has lived in 9 homes and it still works better than I do.

and last but not least....You KNOW you are OLD if.... You start to say a word and it will not come to you and you describe the meaning to your hubby and ask him to come up with the word....and he can't think of it either.
we are both like an 8 ball, waiting and waiting for the word we want to float to the top of our brain.

You KNOW you are OLD if....you can't spell half the words you go to type and get the red squiggle under them from spell check and sometimes it is so misspelled spell check can't guess what you mean.

And this is  ME when you say WHAT'S an 8 Ball..... because this means YOU ARE NOT OLD

Ooh, that painting is gorgeous. Rich's cousin is very talented.

I used to have one of those timers but it got lost in one of my moves. And the Eight Ball, I remember them well. Had one as a kid.

I can relate.....John and I play that same word guessing game! Sometimes I can't even describe the meaning of the word that eludes me!
Such a beautiful painting and I love the reflection in your table.
Just yesterday, we bought a very simple alarm clock to have so we can get up at 4:30 on surgery day. A friend gave us a snazzy one that we are too OLD to operate!!!!!!!

A sense of humour helps after you realise you've had a senior moment. Glad you're feeling better. This was a great post and I loved the reflections on the table and the egret - all good.

Have been away from the computer quite a bit and have just realised you have been unwell. Hope you are okay now.
I can go along with all those things but my solution is to laugh at them.
Who cares if we are getting old, everyone gets there eventually the trick is to not let it matter.
I see older people getting more and more moany and I don't want to go there.
Of course its easy if you are fit and well but really its all in the mind isn't it?
Thus said I'll probably go downstairs now and moan about something.... LOL

You're not so old that you've lost your sense of humour, though!

Yeah, I totally get this! I was at the fabric store the other day and used the word 'shirred.' The lady cutting fabric had no idea what I meant. I felt ancient. At least we've got a lot of company. :-) And by the way, I too would have taken the photo of the table with that beautiful reflection!! Love that egret.

LOL! I know my brain doesn't work like it used to. My computer chip seems to have a short wire. ;)

OH YOU ARE SOOOOO FUNNY!!! If your Dear Readers are *Olden* toooooo, I guess.

Yeah, I prefer "BL's" *OLDEN* word, to "Old." It has nice, soft, ring to it. -chuckle-

Hey, that long-lived timer is a REAL keeper. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Mine keeps *croaking* and I have to get another.

And, stop showing offffffff, Girlie!!!! How??? By taking pics of your glass table top, which is so freakin' CLEAN, that stuff reflects in it, perfectly. -pout- Yeah... Stop showing off, I say!!! LOL!

Hey, it's so good to have you back!!! :-)

"I want to have a little house with sunshine on the floor,
A chimney with a rosy hearth, and lilacs by the door;
With windows looking East and West, And a crooked apple tree,
And room beside the garden fence for hollyhocks to be!"

I beg to disagree. Taking a picture of a beautiful reflection on a table is creative and not old. LOL

Dear Sandra, I'm so glad you are getting back to you old self (pun intended) and have started snapping and reading blogs and commenting again. It's just wonderful to have you back. I was thinking about you when I wrote that Soldier post, I knew you would like all those pictures of him.
You can copy my header photo if you like. I'm thinking of changing it once a month, documenting the changing of the seasons here in the canyon.

This post is so cool. It tells me you are back with a Bang! Oh, it is so good to read this post and know you are feeling so much better
All the things you mentioned in this post remind me of here with hubby and me, Boy..it can be very frustrating!!!

Love the egret!

Post is really funny!

My Mind's Eye said...

LOL or you are taking the pictures because you are trying to behave yourself after recent surgery by not doing anything strenuous
I still have a timer just like that...so you are not old alone.

Your table reflections are gorgeous! I love the flowers! It's so good to have you back! Just so you know I'm only 43 and I like Eastwood and Bronson. :) And I remember the eight ball...THH!

I didn't realize I was old until I came here and you pointed the signs out to me. Now I'm feeling it though.....lol
I can't believe you've had that timer that long. I've had a couple of them and they both broke. I'm blaming my kids for it though. That's my story and I'm sticking to it

Heidrun Khokhar, KleinsteMotte said...

The reflection is cool. And a timer that
s old? Ha
Guess I'm old because the 8 ball thing was just totally out of my vocal but I was able to google and learn.

Glad you are back and giving us things to think about, Sandra. I figure we are as old as we feel, except when it comes time for a seniors discount!

I am definitely old! The only thing I have not done that you list in the blog is take a picture of my table...I have a timer exactly like the one in your blog. I have had it for eons! The egret is beautiful!
Love you, Madeline

I love this post.
What became of Richs cousin. He was so talented.

Oh, Gosh, Sandra...you got me laughing. Especially about going to say a word and you can't think of it. Then there is the times I am telling a story and right in the middle of it I lose it...and most times it is days before I remember.

I call it hitting a dent...I used to literally make records and one thing quality control watched for were dents...which would make the needle skip ahead.

Again, thanks for my morning giggle.
I snickered out loud when I read the one about not remembering the word and Hubby can't either.
I think you have been listening to our conversations Sandra!
I am always saying it takes my brain and my Hubby's to make one good one.
Sorry your bananas didn't make it but what a fascinating life cycle they have.
Love the painting too.

Here's another one for you: You know that you're old when you have time to forget what you were going to put in the comment box while you're scrolling down there...

You have one shiny table top, that I remember.
