Today I received this in a long email......
We'll continue to automatically renew your current Google Storage plan each year, providing you with the same storage limits for your Gmail, Drive, and Picasa, as long as your account's status is as follows:
- Current plan hasn't been changed at google.com/settings/storage
- Account is active
- Annual plan is set to automatically renew each year
- Google Wallet payment information is up-to-date
My Current Google account is 5 per year for 20 gigs. I want it to stay the same. Google is trying to force me to sign up for Google Wallet Payment which I DO NOT WANT TO DO.... if I don't sign up I will lose my old plan. the new plans are 33. for the year for the lowest one.
Blogger I am really going to find something else to use. this is JUST TO MUCH.....In other words i can't update my charge card without joining Wallet. WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO DO....
let this be a warning to all of you on the old purchase plan for space.
UPDATE AT 3:30 pm.. I POKED AND PRODDED AND SAID A FEW NOT SO NICE THINGS AND FINALLY GOT AROUND THE WALLET THING. SO IF YOU GET THE EMAIL DON'T GIVE UP.

thankfully, mine charges my credit card. :)
I have read many complaints about google.
So far I haven't been charged for using Google and blogger.
This scares me.
Everybody is after my wallet.
Mine would have come onto Spam and I just toss those things. I probably tossed that Publisher's Clearing House email that told me I had won the 5,000 per week income for life, also. *sigh*
Wow, I've gotten along just fine on the free plan. If that ever runs out, oh well, I'll be on to something else I guess.
Don't know anything about that, but I know it is frustrating when you feel like you are being taken advantage of. They get you where they want you...feeling like you don't have a choice. Hope you can figure it out to your satisfaction.
Thanks for the information as this is new to me. I'm not sure what I would do if Google started charging. I use Picasa's free space at the moment.
I HATE change!
I don't pay for mine. I take what's free because cheap is the way I roll :) I read a while ago that as long as your pictures were under a certain size it would not count towards your storage usage
Hmmm. How aggravating! So far, I'm still on their free plan.
Okay that is AWFUL! Is it because you post so many pictures? I haven't run out yet - but when I o get there - I may say goodbye. sandie
I am still on free...did not know that I will eventually be charged...Pooh!
Mine is free and I've never heard of charges for blogging. I guess I'll wait and see. :) Thanks for the warning and glad it worked out for you!
I don't think all bloggers have as many photos as we do that is why they don't know about having to pay for extra storage...glad it all worked out...
I don't pay for space yet, but the other day while I was commenting on a blog Google said they had detected suspicious activity. They wouldn't let me do anything (blog, check email) until I gave them my cell phone number. There was no way around it anywhere. I finally gave in just to rescue my email at least...really upset me!
Well---I have LOTS of pictures and yet have never had to pay a dime... (Probably will tomorrow though --now that I say this)...
Glad you worked it out.
Hugs,
Betsy
I didn't know you had to pay although I often wondered what happens when you run out of storage. I'm glad you have found a way around it.
Good old Google, always looking for ways to invade or privacy or just mess with our heads.
I finally ran out of space a week or two ago and paid. I didn't sign up for Wallet either. If you poke and prod enough there are ways around it all.
Re: Your question about what I said in my blog entry today (Fri. Aug. 3rd)
I KNOW that you "make no bones about" doing "photo-shopping" to your pics. I know that. You aren't trying to sort of fool anybody. You are honest. You have great, great fun with these programs. Hooray!!!
I don't have any such "photo-shopping" or whatever programs. So I don't use them. And I asked if others do, or don't have/use them.
So far, I've only gotten 1 'NO I DON'T EITHER', and 3 'YES I USE THEM'. Very unscientific poll!!! -chuckle-
I know others beside you, who say they use them. Fine. I know 1 other, beside me, who does not use them, even before I asked, and she hasn't commented yet.
What I wonder is..... Do some people use "photo-shopping" programs, sometimes, and NOT TELL US? -evil grin-
"Auntie"
Hehhh... Here I am back.. Paying attention to YOUR post.
I already got caught in that Automatic Monthly Payment of (what is it? $2.50 or something) I wanted what I had before tooooo. But I think they REALLY changed it...
I don't really know what you mean by the Wallet thing.....
Anyway, I got caught in this, even before you.
So far not come to the point I have to pay for storage...will probably quit if it comes to that....I have sampled other free places and don't like any of them.
Then I think well, blogger has served me all these years so maybe it would not hurt to pay.
But I don't like the dealings like this...where they try to force you do something...
When I first started blogging a few blogs that I was following was having the same problem. One or two of them just got a new blog name and left the old one up. Being scared that I'd loose my name to someone else, lol, I went ahead and took a few other blog names to save for me for later. I think when I use all the space on the blog I have I will just start over with one of the other names I've reserved. I will though have to give it up and then take it back so I can get it for free and I'll also have to use a different email. It will be complicated but that is my plan.
