I finally gave in and purchased a Kindle a year ago this past December. I have only taken it out of the box, looked at it and shoved it into my desk drawer. I love the feel of a book in my hand. Maybe someday I'll use the Kindle, but not yet.

Best,
Bonnie

Our eldest son gave both of us a kindle and although we do use them, we both prefer a real book, I know, we're old fashioned. ha, ha.

Good point, Sandra, which is why I did not get one after finding out the app could be, and has been installed on my iPad. Like the others who commented, I still prefer to read printed books. But, A have downloaded some user guides and it's nice to be able to access those in the kindle app now.

MOM does not have a kindle or any thing like one. But she just might get the app. But she still reads the old fashion way, a paper book and dim lighting. hahhah

None of us own a kindle. We were thinking about an ipad or something for our son. Maybe we should just get the app, kinda cool. :)
Happy Saturday to you! It's so pretty here in Orlando today. Hope it is there with you. :)

What a great find! I don't own a kindle or ipad......at least not yet but I will some day. I, too, love the feel of a book in my hands, but who says you can't love both?? When you're home sitting in your favorite chair with a cup of hot cocoa by your side, a good book is perfect; but, when you are out and about and have a few minutes to read, or you are traveling and away from home, it's easier to pull out a kindle or ipad instead of lugging around books.

I like to curl up in my chair and read the old fashion way.

Do you pay for the books with the free K? You have enter into if we wish?

Just asking.

I know that people who lay in bed with one arm proping your hand on your head or neck, shoulder postition.

You know you can get very bad problems later. That may be having to have an operation.

The neck and hand, arm and strain on the shoulder was not made for to read in that position for hours.

A dear friend of mine and others I know. Had that operation. So maybe we might think about the Kindle. We only have one shoulder for life.

Thanks for this. Since I have a Kindle, well you know, and a PC, I will pass on this. But it looks like a good thing to know about this website, so I made a note of it.

Very interesting! We got our son one for Christmas and it is stuck to his body and he never leaves it.

I knew that. I don't really like to read whole books on the computer. The best thing about my Kindle for me is that it's less tiring for my eyes than both the computer and printed books. But it's great to have the possibility to check one's books out on the computer too; and also for example if there are books with illustrations in them, which might not come out so well on the Kindle screen. It's great that you point out the possiblity, that one does not HAVE to have a Kindle to enjoy the free e-books.

I am a bit undecided on which one to go for now that my Sony Reader started giving some issues. It has served me well but its time for an upgrade. Kindle Paperwhite has a lot of good reviews but don't want to lose my collection of epubs. If Kindle supported epub, I would have no qualms in going for it.

Books every time for me I'm afraid.

I've gone back and forth on those things as to whether to get one or not. Lots of things about them entice me but in the end, I still like books. But they do a lot more than that. Maybe someday.

Thank you for writing about this. I did have a Kindle app on my laptop, then last week I got a virus and had to reboot my laptop. Now my Kindle has gone? I am hoping the laptop manufacturer will replace it as my puter is only 5 months old? But if they don't then I will down load one myself. I love it also.

I have the kindle app and the Nook app on my tablet and buy books from both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I like the Nook app slightly better but I'm not all that picky. I buy the book from the cheaper of the two and if it is the same, I buy from B&N. It's a great way to read in the middle of the night and not wake up Grouchy.

I only read a few books each year because I'm on my computer all day so I still love holding a real book in my hands.

I have read all the comments above and find them very interesting. Me, I like to curl up on the sofa with my Samsung tablet. I don't have a Kindle yet but the app is on my PC, laptop, phone and tablet. What I really like is that all the books I get from Amazon are stored in the cloud so I can read them with any of my devices.

I probably won't get a Kindle anytime soon but I do like the idea that Kindle owners can "borrow" book from Amazon for free.

That download on my laptop started me out with Kindle. Then to the basic Kindle. Now it's the Kindle Fire and I love, love, love it! I don't leave home without it! I love that I can read in bed at night and not have to have a light on. I can even read all the blogs I follow on it! Go get you one!
