Rye Wilderness was a place of peace and quiet. I took these photos Dec 27, 2003. Now this lovely bridge is gone, replaced by a four lane speed trap, and miles of concrete. Every thing in these photos is destroyed.
Progress you know. but we can still feel the peacefulness from the photos.
Find out what Gospel of Goose says about finding peace.
The poetry of the earth is never dead... John Keats
Quiet is peace! Tranquility! Quiet is turning down the volume knob on life. Silence is pushing the off button. Shutting it down. All of it. Khaled Hosseini

I love quiet places like this.
MOM thought of that song with the line in it "Paved paradise and put up a parking lot" by Joni Mitchell. It's more than a little sad to see such beauty gone.
Blessings and Peace,
Goose
Oh how sad that it is gone now!
So peaceful looking, sad the bridge is gone...progress
Golden LOVE it. Finding peace in nature. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
It is hard to see how destroying such beauty can be called progress, but I know,it happens here all the time as well.Good thing you have these pictures with which to go back to that place of peace and quiet.
my first digital was a kodak easyshare, too. :) these are beautiful. sorry they destroyed the area.
What a shame such a peaceful place is now a busy thoroughfare.
This post reminds of the song Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows where they say "They paved paradise And put up a parking lot!"
I didn't see Gooses comment until I after I made my comment. As a rule I never read the other comments. Great minds think alike. When I Googled it, it came up by Counting Crows.
The blue blue sky reflecting in the water makes it look awesome, like the bluest water in the Caribbean And in the next to last picture it looks like fields of gold in the distance. What a shame it is all gone with the wind now...
Beautiful places to visit. The peace can be seen and felt. Great job. Your photo skills are amazing.
Silence just means so much to me. I need it and enjoy it. I am sorry that progress took over this lovely quiet spot. Now....where do you go to find peace.....oh...your wonderful Beer Can Island!!!!!!!!!
THANK GOODNESS YOU STILL HAVE THE LOVELY PICTURES FROM 2003 TO REMEMBER THIS PEACEFULNESS
HUGS MADI AND MOM YOUR BFFF

When progress isn't progress. These are so peaceful.
We all need peaceful places. I'm sure you're glad you still have these photos although it's sad to hear that the place is so different now.
I adore peace and beauty. Thanks for sharing these photos. You have so many beautiful ones.
this is one of the most beautiful post ever! so sad about the bridge being replaced by concrete!
It's sad when a little piece of heaven is covered with concreate. :(

It's pretty and it does look peaceful. A shame they had to change all that.
I'm a bit late getting around today. I haven't felt like being on the computer and won't have a post again tomorrow. Maybe Tuesday I'll be back :)
Times change. So glad you brought these out to share. Looks like fall for sure.
Once again Goose's Mom and I had the same thought about the "paving of paradise". It is such a beautiful spot and I'm glad your photos have preserved it for us to enjoy.
I sometimes feel that 'progress' is often oversold. These photos are beautiful -- and peaceful.
How sad to lose such a tranquil spot, a place the next generation will never get to enjoy. Joni Mitchell's song sums it up.
WOW~ beautiful and peaceful.
wow, these are some amazing reflections!!
how sad about the bridge being replaced by concrete!
