In 1993 my Daddy sent us a check for 125.00 enclosed in this letter written on the back of a church bulletin... the bulletin was a year old at the time.
Dear Sandra and Bob, just a
little love gift. But if you had rather have a beautiful card, saying beautiful
words, send check back and I will exchange it. HA.
I say to myself, send them
25.00. But something says to me, Why be such a skin flint, send them a hundred.
Don’t worry about this
special paper..
One day last week, while
feeling sorry for myself, I can’t remember what for right now, I wrote this
down after singing it.
Why worry. Why do I worry:
Why do I fear, why so much care:. Jesus says, I will always be there. For I
careth for you.
I felt better.
One day we will see Jesus. We
will know Jesus, as He knows us. We will be with Him forever and ever. Oh what
a divine privilege it is for the Christian!
Love you much, your 80 year
Daddy….
The thing is our dog Max ATE the check..... the whole check. I called Daddy to say the dog ate it and told him to just add the 125 back and not send it again.
He said no I want to send it but I sent 100 not 125.
He had written 100 and could not figure how to fix it. He took the check book to his brother to straighten it out and sent us another check.
at that time we were living pay check to pay check and I had given a check to our pastor to pay the electric bill for a woman in the church that had no job. The check to the pastor was 125.00. The check from daddy was the same amount we gave away the week before.
the voice in daddy's head that told him to send us 125.00 was put there by God. I do believe that. NOTE: this was a Big Deal... daddy was a skin flint and never sent checks to us...
We did not know it but he was in the beginning stages of Parkinson's and Dementia...

What a precious post today. Thank you for sharing this.
awww. bittersweet.
Wow....that is eerie for the amount, but oh such a loving, giving family you have!!!
This is a treasure to have this letter, as is the post.
What a beautiful story and there are no coincidences just Godincidences!
What a sweet thing to share. Goodness came back to you. And what a wonderful thing to you did to help that woman.
Our Bandit got Hodgkins and was so hungry he ate part of my wallet, driver's licence and $12.00. I know he would have had a lot of respect for Max, I mean $125.00 was so much bigger a chew.
Wow. On so many levels. I love the 'if you'd rather have a card'....and the fact the dog ate the check. And God always blesses us in unexpected ways. I have heard so many share similar situations of giving sacrificially to others and then God gives them a blessing one way or another.
aw, what a precious thing to have..
what a beautiful post today!
thanks for sharing.
That is a lovely memento to have. Thanks for sharing it!
A lovely story this morning. He sounds like a wonderful man. I am sure you miss him greatly.
My Mama always said that if you give your money away--good things will happen. AND--God certainly did give your Daddy a message. What a neat post and letter!!!! Obviously, your Daddy loved you very much.
Hugs,
Betsy
Okay!! This had me tearing up right off the bat!!! And actually SEEING that hand written letter wass so special! I love seeing my mother's signature before she suffered a stroke. She can only print now and even that must be copied.
I have always believed the saying "You can't out give GOD!"
Such a beautiful post!!

Very sweet post.
First off you are blessed to have that hand written note from your dad and something you can keep close to your heart.
YES! GOD was entwined in this transaction well before you all knew it was coming. HE is always with us even when we do not feel him. HE working in our lives even though we can’t see it. GOD was speaking to your dad's big sweet heart.
Some years back, I wanted some money to help others; our personal bank account was limited. It was difficult to give anything above our monthly tithe. I prayed on a Sunday and a check came in that Friday for 10,000.00 from an uncle that died 3 years before. GOD knew if I had of gotten the check just after my uncle passed away, I would have spent in on stupid stuff. GOD has perfect timming, this check helped out many and it felt good...better than I would have felt had I blown it.
When giving to help others, it lifts our spirits and those that are in need as well... They see GOD in working in their lives which strengthens their faith.
YOU DID GOOD GAL!!!
Why to go Max, eat the whole check. My cats would just shred it.
That's a great letter from your dad. I haven't figured out if Dementia is a curse or a blessing for some folks.
what a sweet story and a great memory
So wonderful to have that happen...and to have the note from your daddy!
That is a great testimony of how God works. He used you to meet a need and then met your need. He wanted you to trust Him and you did! Thanks for sharing this story.

This is such a wonderful life testimony Sandra. Thanks for sharing.
It really is true that we can't out give God.
I'm glad your sweet Dad followed the prompt of the Lord and that you all were blessed.
Precious memories.
This was a very moving story Sandra, and the letter will always be a reminder of the changes that happened to your dad. Thank you for sharing with us, truly.
What a wonderful post and an amazing story.
Greetings
In sharing I really go a lot today and from each readers views.
Thanks for posting this wonderful story and where would we all be without the love our best friends.
I am so happy you saved the letter. It's a treasure now. 80 used to seem so old but not anymore. What a nice Dad to had. What a lovely memory he left you with.
Coincidence? Or maybe not Sandra as it is often said that good things come to good people and you surely are in that category and and Bob too. Funny story about the check eating dog.
God was right there taking care of you just like he is today! Precious memory! I have some like that where I know that God was in it totally. With this water crisis I can't seem to look at anything else. I had to take a break yesterday and leave the house to get away from it. Our house was not affected by it. I praise God for that all day long! I've also been wondering why did we move back to this state again after we got out. I should do a post because this can get long! lol Long story short. God was in us moving back and where we bought our farm and the whole chabang!
Very emotional but wonderful post sweet Sandra. I believe just like you do about that check. God knows our needs. Hugs
