Bradenton was settled in 1842 and incorporated in 1903. Old Main Street in down town Bradenton, is lined with buildings that were built in 1842 through 1926... Bob and I went on a Walk-About this past Sunday.
Saturday mornings, there is a farmers market with fresh produce and tents with tables of crafts to purchase. And twice a year the streets are closed and there is a Seafood Festival.
Bradenton has a unique mix of attractions... all within a walkable downtown. This includes Manatee Players Theater, South Florida Museum, Art Center Manatee and a walking tour of hundreds of old homes in Point Pleasant.
Downtown is a mixture of shops and antique stores all mixed with restaurants, offices, our police station and city and county buildings, library and old Victorian homes, condos and our Famed Riverwalk. this Riverwalk links to previous posts.
there are 3 churches that are close to 100 years old mixed in with new modern buildings.
These streets are also used for Art Walks featuring our local artists.

That is cute town and one that would be interesting to visit the shops. I would like to see it when the venders have their tents up. I love those canopies, so colorful and each shop has their own.
A little town where we use to live looked like this till they chopped down the trees and ripped off the canopies. It does not look quaint or cool in the summer. Now it looks empty as most shops have closed and it looks hot. No one wants to walk or sit out at the little restaurants in the blazing summer sun. What was that city council thinking when they did that?

Bradenton is so pretty! I miss downtown Winter Garden. That's where we first lived when we moved to Florida, I was three.:)

I love areas like this one. It is so rare to see an active downtown these days. The Seafood Festival would be fun, I'll bet it draws big crowds. The facade in your last photo reminds me a bit of our downtown area.

What a lovely old town. Thanks for the tour. Our town was settled in the 1800s, but most of it got wiped out in an earthquake in 1952.
The town sounds perfect. One thing I enjoy when I go to Florida are some of the old towns that are still around, they are filled with charm.
