French Toast made with 15 grain bread is delicious.... Add Maple syrup because I can't get Cane Syrup here and YUM.
I called it egg bread all of my life but thought you might not know what I meant.
Have you heard it called that? if so where are you from the deep South?
Wal-Mart..The SD card I wanted was locked on a wire hanger with its sisters.
I hiked walked 2 miles 4 aisles over and found a lady who hiked back with me and used a small pry thingy to unlock the card... She then popped it in a big plastic box and
locked it with a magnet thingy that would be unlocked at the cash register.
My red sad face is because our country has become so dishonest that things have to be locked to protect them from shoplifters.
A blogger asked why the egg carton in my Egg Art post had no lid on the carton.
we rip the lid off for easy storage in this plastic container that slides in a slot. if the top is on it will not fit. now you KNOW... please don't lose any more sleep over this..

I always called it French toast and my dad could make the best!
i always called it french toast.
however, eggy bread, poor knights of windsor...whatever you call it, french toast makes a delicious breakfast.
now i am hungry!
I promise not lose any sleep over it...or at least I will try not to.
We would probably be amazed at what all is shoplifted...
We call it "eggy toast" here and the parrot loves it with the 9 grain bread I get at Kroger deli.
It is a shame the stores have to do that. How much was that one? I get mine at Amazon.
I've always called it french toast. Which I haven't made in a while. Sounds good right now since I haven't yet had breakfast.
I'm truly amazed at what people are doing these days. My son's job is trying to catch these people and it's not just the shoppers, the internal thieving that goes on is mind-boggling!
I think I'm from the mid-south, Virginia. We called it French toast. Always real maple syrup. Never cane syrup.
Best,
Bonnie
i always have to ask them to unlock the printer ink cartridges now. *sigh*
I like French Toast as long it's cooked all the way through. That sounds like good bread to use for it. As for locking things up, that "is" rather sad that things have to be bolted down these days.
I guess we should call it egg bread whenever we are mad at the French. Remember Freedom Fries?
RANDOMOSTITY I LOVE IT....
I HAVEN'T SEEN THE 15 GRAIN PEPPERIDGE FARM BREAD BUT I WILL BE LOOKING FOR IT AFTER THE GREAT BLIZZARD PASSES THIS WEEK. THERE WAS A CAFE CLOSE TO WHERE I WORKED THEIR 15 GRAIN TOASTED TUNA SANDWICH WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD
HUGS

Your French toast sounds delicious. I have not heard it called egg bread, but I'll bet it's just as good with that name as well. Maple syrup is a favorite of mine.
I am from the deep south but I have not heard of egg bread...Neat way to store your eggs
I love french toast, but don't remember the last time I had it...having to watch carbs and sweets. It is a shame about the SD card. I bought my son a wallet for Christmas at Tractor's Supply and it was in a locked case, too!
I actually like French toast best on French bread. Cane syrup? The old timers call it sorghum. I hate the taste of it. Plus, when I went to the local syrup festival here last year it was $16 a pint! Sorry to tell you but most places lock up the small items like the SD cards. Even in our little town of 35,000 where I go to do my shopping. Except lipstick. I'm still trying to find a way to get a tube of lipstick to the cash register without it falling through the wires of the grocery cart!
I've never heard of it called 'egg bread.' My husband uses French bread to make French toast. I guess because it's denser. More dense? Anyway, yes, it is sad that we've become a nation of shoplifters and soon we'll be a nation of totally jobless shoplifters. At least then there will be more of an excuse. ;-)
Kathy, you have to put a T-shirt in the cart and then set the lipstick on top of it to get it to the cash register. lol
Well, I can understand why people would call it egg bread. My childhood with french toast was this: Mother would make the egg milk mixture and fry it and then we would put salt on it and eat it like that. I have never run into anybody else who did that. I don't know why. Maybe she couldn't afford maple syrup or something. I still do it only I have french toast very seldom. I like syrup and butter on it also.
my Hubby LOVES French toast...it is one of the things he remembers most about his Mom...French toast..I've never liked it...I did like waffles though...

LOL!!! I love the modified egg tray!! And yes, it is so sad that there is s much dishonesty....and please don't blame it on the economy because it has to do with values, don't you agree? ...:)JP
Now I am craving french toast. :)
I've never heard it called egg bread but I do want some french toast now.
I've done that with my eggs before but normally we buy the 2 1/2 dozen pack so it just stays in that until we've gone through about 1/2 of them
French toast is so good! Mom used to make it on cold, wintery nights for dinner. What a treat! I think Jim and I should have some soon. Isn't it amazing what we remember from our childhoods.
I like french toast now but I don't
like the sweetness of Maple syrup now that goes on it. I did as a kid. That was thee
thing the family ate back then. The sweet tooth thing.
I love the taste with the egg itself. I cannot have the brown wheat. I am allergic to wheat.
I also love the egg beaters white only.
I have gluten free bread. Still tastes's
yummier. I make it often in the week.
Interesting blog.
That bread does look good. I'll have to look for it next time I'm at the store. We've always called it French Bread. I keep my eggs like you do only when I have a new carton I just keep it on the shelf until I put the new eggs in the main egg container. It is sad what this world has come to. I wrote about coming in the store right after 2 younger teen boys were caught shoplifting a heating pad for one boys mother on my fb. That was so sad to see...
I don't each much bread--but if I do, I'd want that whole grain one. SO HEALTHY!!!! I need all of the fiber I can get.
Even though I'm from the south, I never called it 'egg bread'.... Good description though.
Have you eaten the sugar free maple syrup? It is REALLY good --surprisingly.
YES---they have to lock things up everywhere these days.. Tis sad.
Hugs,
Betsy
I grew up deep in the heart of GA and we always called it French toast. There was a bread that my aunt used to make that she called egg bread. It was similar to brioche. My dad would buy sorghum syrup from a place up in North GA.
Almost every item is under lock and key now. Some just have a little card to take to the cashier.
I like your egg tray.
I used to love French toast..but we don't keep bread in the house anymore. I also think it is a shame that the stores have to go to such great lengths to try and prevent theft.
We like French toast but hardly ever make it at home, somit's a treat to get it when we eat breakfast out, but not too often.
As for things being locked up, it is unfortunate even more so when yiu have to find someone to inlock something you actually want to buy and not steal. Bad folks spoil things for good folks.
It IS a shame. isn't it, that some people see nothing wrong in shoplifting. Suddenly I want an egg for breakfast.
I've never been a fan of French Toast but I do like maple syrup. But I haven't had French Toast in so many years, maybe I would like it if I tried it again. Hmmmm.... Thanks for explaining the egg carton. Now, I'll be able to sleep tonight. Lol.
French toast is very nice and I love maple syrup and a slice of bacon or two ;)
I haven't made french toast in years but it is one of my favorites! Yes it is very sad about that SD card having to be locked up and then locked again for you to take it to the register.
