Gimme Da Cookies!

Our SweetBay Grocery store is closing its doors this Friday , and will re-open as a Wynn Dixie the next Friday...  the shelves were very empty and sales signs were all over the store.

A month ago, I picked up a container with 8 cookies and Bob loved them. We do not keep sweets in the house but occasionally I will buy something.

The cookies were 25 % off. Why Not? When I got home I found the bakery had put 6 cookies not 8 and reduced the price by 25%.... so not a deal at all, but a scam.

When I ranted to Bob about this, all he said was "I wish you had bought TWO boxes".
When I said "do you realize these were 50 cents for each cookie? When I bought 8 they were 41 cents a cookie... they cheated us...

"I just wish you had bought 2 boxes of them" was his final answer.

YES! I did eat Three of Them...that is why he wanted another Box.

They do look tasty! There's an inexpensive cookie that we like so when I see them I pick them up because I haven't been able to duplicate them...good morning from Aruba!!!...:)JP

I guess he really liked them!!! lol

Mama's favorite cookie was oatmeal/raisin.

I love chocolate chip!

They do look more tasty than most scams. Manufacturers are making containers smaller and charging more. I don't believe they think we are smart enough to notice.

...and the thing of it is, no matter if they're selling in close out prices, there is always something in another aisle that the price was raised to make up for the sale prices. That's what irks me.

They do look good!!!

PS...love the pretty fence images with the homes and all the shadows of the trees in your previous post.

You two crack me up!! We had two Winn Dixie's that closed. Their reg prices were a little high, but they had great sales and I liked their store brands. Hope you enjoy shopping there

yup, a woman thinks in practical terms, a man thinks in senses. :)

Oh dear everything is being bought by someone else and reopened and remodeled. Kroger recently bought all the Harris-Teeters in our area. Harris Teeter is keeping the name but Kroger spent months reorganizing the perfectly organized HT shelves. It took us weeks to get used to the new arrangement. Had they cheated me on cookies that would have been the straw that broke this cookie monster's back

I agree with Bob on this one.

Looks like a yummy cookie to me. I don't like when they reduce the size of a package and then call it a sale.

That wasn't very nice of them!!! Sounds like me trying to talk to Mark about something. Just once I wish he would agree with me.....

Sneaky sales people, but is sounds like they were worth the 50 cents anyway.

They do look tasty and addictive If you had bought two boxes, I'm sure Bob would have wished you'd have bought three! :) Perhaps just as well they're closing the place...

Sorry, I am with BOB!!! But I DO agree it was a sneaky thing to do, so I am glad they are closing! Maybe Winn Dixie will be more honest! BUT all this brings me to the question....I thought you only buy your groceries in Wal-Mart?

Well shoot they do look good...

Thank you so much for visiting me today. I enjoyed all of your comments and they brought me back to your page for the second time today. I just read up on your sweet animals and am grateful to meet you in blogland. All of our animals except our brown dog Jack, are rescues. Bless you for giving them such a wonderful home. I can see in your photos how happy they are. Rescued animals sure are grateful and wonderful family members aren't they?! Thanks again for swinging by.

That's pretty bold faced, if that's the term, of them. I would have been mad too, but the way you tell the story, I had to giggle!

Hmmmm - me no likely that they cheated you. However I do like the eating of three cookies (or four or five or....)

I'm totally with you! I love chocolate chip cookies, they are the BEST!! Kyle is a cookie monster and has been all his life. :)

We are getting less for our money. Every company is doing it! But I am glad Bob liked the cookies!!!

Down sizing products has become very common, it's good to check closely these days. With that said you should have bought that extra box for Bob. LOL!

I'm with Bob - one box is great, two is better!

Yum... Those cookies look SO good... Think I would be like Bob and want another box!!!!!

BUT--it wasn't about the money.. It was about them not selling your 8 cookies --which I assume they advertised... That is not fair!!!! I hate it when we get scammed by stuff like this...

Hugs,
Betsy

Oh yes, now we know why he wanted two boxes :-)

Since I work in a grocery store bakery I can tell you that's how the stores avoid raising the price of an item. Instead of raising the total cost of that package they reduce the amount in the container. It sucks for the person buying it but at the same time it's easier to pay more per cookie when your total cost is still the same as it was before.

Yummy on the cookies.

Hmmm. I'm guessing Bob liked the cookies. ;))

You have some of the funniest posts!

Does Bob read them??

These cookies looks really yummy :)

It sounds like Bob really loved the cookies and didn't care what they cost. I would be like you and thinking it was a scam. Shame on them for doing that. Most people probably wouldn't even had noticed there were less cookies in the package so that is why they did it. Now days one really has to look and read to make sure they are getting a good deal or not. Hugs
