F.A.S.T.

I am sharing the knowledge I heard on Doctor Oz Show...early warning signs of a stroke. Each of these very young women had a stroke and are fine now because they knew the warning signs and acted quickly.

Face Drooping, one side different, can you smile and both sides to up

Arm weakness.. raise both arms out straight in front of you, are they level

Speech. can you repeat a short sentence, is speech garbled

Time is of the essence.. call 911 if any of the above is present and be sure to tell EMS you think you are having a stroke.

First in line.. office worker friend noticed she was laughing and one side did not go up and said something is wrong with your face. she was having a stroke at work. Saved by the office worker.

2nd in line....holding a glass and it was to heavy to lift, told hubby can't lift the glass.. dropped it. Did the arms straight out and could not do it. Life saved.

3rd in line... she thought she was talking ok, friend noticed speech was garbled.

You can never repeat these signs and symptoms too often. Living alone in a rural area, stroke is my worst fear.

Very important message, friend. I think that women are so hesitant to phone 911 and bother anyone.

This is scary, scary, scary! I had put these signs up on my fridge at one point, but looking at it all the time filled me with fear. So I just remember all this. BUT if we are having a stroke, we can't remember, so this needs to go back up on the fridge. Your T.V. shots are good!

such important information to share! I made a big sign to put on the wall at my grandma's home. It reads FAST. Face, arms, smile and time. Everyone should post this somewhere in their home where everyone will read it often. :)
thank you, Sandra!

Timely and good advice. Those ladies look so young to have problems like this.

And then there was my sister who knew she was having a 2nd stroke but didn't want to get medical attention. Ugh. Thankfully she is ok. She suffered some memory loss but not much.

I repeated your post to my mom at lunch today. She thinks that strokes runs in her family and was discussing a few things that have happened to her recently. She has a card on the fridge for heart attack symptoms, but nothing for stroke. I am going to make her one. Her test results should be in soon..we are all anxious to find out what is wrong.

One of my sister in-laws had those similar signs.

Only more serious. She had to have an operation and she has recovered well. She is driving now after numerous months.

Thanks for info .

Most strokes are silent.

Her's were. Blessings someone was right there. She may of not been here today.

Very useful information to know. I have to say that those women look way to young to be having strokes.

Learn something new and so very useful every day and thanks, Sandra, for passing all this info along. The acronym will make the signs easier to remember too.
