Sunday, March 1, while reading about Heritage week, I read in the paper the Confederate Army would be camping at Gamble Plantation.
Bob
His comment was "It's not MY heritage, I am a Yankee..." (please don't remind me, she says)
Walking from the parking lot, the above shot is the mansion from the side, with clouds looming. Photo taken at 10:42 am Below is the front of Gamble Mansion, taken at 10:49..
the weather was perfect, cloud/sun/cloud/sun and 78 degrees.
(Bob JOYFULLY followed me)
"LOOK BOB", there's the army...! !
we found the army TENT and FIRE..
One tent, One Fire means One man army...
My comment "we did have more than a ONE man army" didn't we?
Wait, there's the Bugler, the drummer boy and the lady camp follower.
.We spied a Medic.. which was fine. we only needed one Medic to care for
4 people.
The bugler, the drummer and the medic and lady camp follower.
Just Sayin... again
TO BE CONTINUED....... the next post involves a One DRUM..... sitting by the One tent, with One Fire...

Such a pretty day and I enjoyed this post and the one from 2010. Many years ago, I attended a reenactment at Kennesaw Mountain.
Looked like a great day out. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
MOL MOL Tell your Yankee Doodle Dandy we are glad he saw the light and moved to the South.
Hugs madi and mom
So there was a war but hardly anyone came? Hmmm.

whew! good thing you two showed up so they wouldn't be lonely! :)
LOVE the plantation! Especially the front shot with the big beautiful trees framing it. I expect Scarlet to come running out at any time. And Rhett will be lurking about somewhere, perhaps under one of these trees with a picnic lunch...but I digress. What a fun day! Did they charge? I guess they are actors? Well of course they are, they were not in the Civil War! Is the bugler blaring that the meal is ready? Can't WAIT till tomorrow! So glad the weather was perfect for you!
I read the old post and the new post.
I can remember back when I was in the Civil War...
I would have gone there in an instant! I love that stuff and I'm a Yankee. Amazing that in spite of Bob's affiliation, you love him and keep him! LOL
I just love Southern history!!!Love your shots of the few soldiers in attendance!
Somehow your post from 2010 gave more of a sense of Drama ;)
The Four People trying to perform the reenactment this time kind of reminds me of those stories one sometimes hears about people who were so far from the front that it took ages before the news reached them that the war was over...
That is sure one austere "army"! Were the rest of them with General Lee at Gettysburg?
Best,
Bonnie
Looks like you had a very nice day!
Well you know I can relate to the whole coerced volunteer person to go with you but I can't help laughing at Bob's comment about being a Yankee
Hi Sandra, glad you and Bob got the army to swell the numbers! Thanks for your regular visits and comments. I'm still not completely on my feet with blogging again but will soon be! Blessings, Jo

How fun! That mansion is gorgeous.
How lovely, straight out of Gone with the Wind ;0

Tootie is sick and if the weather permits we are heading there sometime tomorrow. Supposed to get freezing rain tonight though..
