Daddy had to have grits with his fish and his bacon and eggs.
I love grits.. in fact I broke a few of the 10 commandments last night
for dinner.
Our go to dinner when I don’t want to cook, is grits with margarine and grated sharp cheese and white bread toast.
I put my grits on my toast
so don’t have to worry about it running through a fork, plus they were instant.
I do love cooked grits best but hate to wash that pot after soaking for
hours. high lighted are the commandments I broke. OH MY...
NOTE to People who don't like grits, if you don't like it you do not cook it long enough... 30 minutes or longer is the cooking time. Most restaurants have horrible grits
The 10 Commandments of Grits
I. Thou shalt not put syrup on thy Grits
NEVER Never would I
II. Thou shalt not eat thy Grits with a spoon or knife
I ate it on white toast but I always use a fork
III. Thou shalt not eat Cream of Wheat and call it Grits, for this is
blasphemy ..

blasphemy ..
IV. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's Grits.
V. Thou shalt use only salt, butter, and red-eye gravy as toppings for thy
Grits.
I had sharp cheese in it
VI Thou shalt not eat Instant Grits.
Oh yes I DID
VII. Thou shalt not put ketchup on thy Grits.

VIII. Thou shalt not put margarine on thy Grits.
Oh Yes, I did
IX. Thou shalt not eat toast with thy Grits, only biscuits made from
scratch.

scratch.
Oh yes I did
X. Thou shalt eat grits on the Sabbath for this is manna from heaven.
Now begin eating your grits. Always use a fork, never a spoon, to eat Grits.
Your grits should be thick enough so they do not run through the tines of
the fork.

love grits and these cooked grits make my mouth water!
happy wednesday~
Good morning, I have to say I have never tried grits. I do not think my mother even made it when I was young.
I do think the sharp cheese and butter make it taste good.
Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
MS YOU ARE JUST TOOOOO FUNNY. ONLY YOU WOULD POST A MOST ENJOYABLE AND FUNNY POST ON GRITS...
I HAD CHEESE GRITS FOR LUNCH YESTERDAY. BUT I ATE THEM WITH A SPOON AND I PUT BUTTER ON THEM
HUGS CECILIA
Ah, the confessions of a dinner sinner!!
Best,
Bonnie
If I look closely and imagine what you're eating, I'd say grits (singular?) is similar to our maize meal porridge - softly cooked and runny. I only eat our maize meal cooked almost dry - called putu (Zulu word) or Ugali (Swahili word) or PAP (pronounced PUP - Afrikaans word!) What a cheery post about a meal. Luvya girl! xxx
Okay, this made me laugh. And I've only eaten grits once, and those (it?) was made by a friend from the South. Let's just say that I wasn't a big fan. And knowing that I am risking a friendship here, I must ask, Is there a reason for grits?? LOL
I never had grits. Imagine that!
I never developed a taste for grits.
I can't say anything good about grits so I'll just tell you how lovely the photos of the rose and the parrot are on your header!
Cute! I've never liked grits, maybe the times I've tasted them they weren't cooked right. But then, I don't like hominy or licorice either. I can eat most anything else! lol!
I had to look up grits and even after reading recipes I still don't quite get an idea of what it's like...
When I first came to this country I took to grits like a duck to water. Love those 10 commandments.
I have never tasted the stuff, but would like to sometime.
I guess I am eating them wrong, but oh how I do love them. I want them with butter, salt and pepper. Yes, they must have black pepper. And I must have bacon. I eat with a spoon. I get a spoon of grits, put a bit of bacon on each bite...and it is manna from heaven indeed! One of my favorite meals.
I must admit, Sandra...I LOVE GRITS...with butter and a spoon, preferably a big one because I devour those things!...:)JP
I Love grits! I never thought of eating them with a fork. I like a little sugar or Splenda in mine but yes sharp cheese is the best! I agree manna from heaven.......can't believe how many comments you had from people who don't like them. It is a southern thing I reckon
Your so funny. I don't even know what grits taste like but I'm sure I would love cheese on them.
I think one day I'll have to visit you so you can serve me grits!
