When I was 13, my friends parents had a barn. She had older brothers who delighted in squirting us with milk causing us to run and scream and laugh. We often sat with our legs hanging out the hay door, enjoying life. Oh Youth...
Youth is a gift of nature, but old age is a work of art.. Stanislaw
Old barns tell the best stories........
Barn Rules
If you ride it, feed it
If it drinks water, give it some
If you unlock it, lock it back up
If you borrow it, return it
If you don't know, ask
If you leave a mess, clean it up
If you break it, fix it
If you move it, put it back
If you throw it down, pick it up..

nice barns. i have some good childhood memories of calves, heifers, cats, hay mows. :)
That barn is definitely a work of art. Love the colours of the wood as the barn has aged. I remember playing in the hay loft as a child.
Oh that is a gorgeous barn and I love the shape.
The rules are EXCELLENT
Ummm I might could use part of those rules for my fridge. Beginning with
If you don't know,ask...(don't plunder with the door open)
If you move it, PUT it back where you found it
Hugs Cecilia
First LOVE the moon and sun post below this. Awesome.
And as for this post...the barn rules are great. I remember my grandparents' hay mow in the barn. My brother strung a rope on the rafters and we, as kids, would swing on the rope only to fall a floor downward into the pile of hay. Itches galore, but fun!!
Great barn images too, Sandra.
Good morning, Sandra! What a beautiful barn. The Barn rules should be for more than a barn. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
The barn was always a favorite place to be when I was a kid...still is, if I had one.
I have barn envy, plain and simple.
pretty barns! I don't have many memories of barns. My granddaddy had one and it was full of cars. lol sounds like you had some great play times in barns. :)
Fun post. I love barns.
What a nice looking barn. Although I must admit seeing Palm Trees and a Barn together is not something that you normally picture in your mind. - Loved your story from your youth and the great quotes.
Great rules for the barn...I think they apply to life in general too.
Love barns and their character.
Thanks for the comments about the geese.
I kind of like their sound as they fly over our house but man, are they dirty. Not a nice walk in the park.
These are nice looking barns. My uncle had a farm and I can remember playing in their barn when I was a kid. We would climb way up on the bails of hay.
Those are some nice looking old barns! Love that roof on the first one.
The old barns would have so many stories to tell,if only they could talk.
I also just love old barns...the weathered wood is beautiful!!
These old barns are gorgeous! Love the palm trees around them and those Barn Rules were so much fun to red, as were your memories of childhood. Great post Sandra :)
What quaint barns. I love the story about you and your friend in the barn. Is a hay door the one which is high up in the building? Coming straight out into nothingness?
