Home Alone???

Photos Before Surgery from archives

Can anyone tell me how to keep this man down until after July 4th? No driving, no swimming, no lifting.. no nothing but walking... less than 48 hours after surgery I hear him say from the bathroom, bring me a screw driver!

"What?" I shriek? running down the hall. He is holding the top of the commode sitting it on the sink. I scream I CAN DO THAT... really I CAN... he calmly uses the screw driver and picks it up and puts it back........... arrrrrrrrrh

He is allowed to walk back and forth in the pool, without getting incision wet. Thursday AM I went to my TOPS meeting and when I left the pool was full of leaves on the bottom, the bottom that is 9 feet deep and requires a 12 foot pole to be manipulated. When I got home, the leaves were GONE....6 days after surgery.
NOTE: down 36 pounds now, since Jan 20..
Friday, he sat on the sofa and said, I guess I can settle in. Unless you are going somewhere, then I can cut the grass.....7 days and counting

I did leave, but I made him ride with me and sit in the car.... while I had his hearing aids cleaned and the wires replaced that came off while in hospital. I guess I am grounded until July 5th...or at least can't leave him Home Alone.

Well, on the bright side...SO glad he is well enough to want to do all this! And I know you wouldn't have it any other way. Of course you will have to watch him like a hawk, and he does need to care more about his health and not abuse it. Being thankful includes doing what is right, and not tempting fate or flaunting your blessings.

It's that kind of spirit that takes you a long way but he should take care. Great though that he is feeling so well.
Your weight loss is brilliant, how on earth did you manage to keep it up? my will powers is nil.

Good morning Sandra!:) I am so pleased Bob is feeling well enough to take on jobs around the house. Keep a watchful eye on him though, nag him if you have to, it's early days yet. I know it's difficult, cos Americo is just like Bob,...thinks he's Superman, and in controle of his own body, and he is, to a certain extent, but he has never been through such a serious surgery. Bob is a very handsome man, love your shots of him in the pool. Take care, and have a great weekend.:

I do not envy you the job of keeping him safe and healthy!

I have to say that I do know what it's like to feel perfectly capable of doing things even when you're told you are not supposed to. With that being said, men are way worse at following doctors orders and thinking they know better. There's gotta be some kind of underhanded tricks you can use to keep him down...lol
I wish I could lose 36 pounds. I just can't get back in to what I was doing last year. I'm feeling like a blimp

What a stinker---gotta love him! (the leaves were a little over the top) Does Jake have a short leash he could lend you?

He's a fighter, that's for sure! Definitely a smart idea to take him with you.

Oh dear MS that title made me think of the movie and what the scream the kid had when he realized he was home alone....however, in my mind's eye it was you with your hands on your face, wide eyed screaming after finding out what Bob did.
Men seem not to know the meaning of 'consequences' when they do random acts of stupidity we all suffer

Hello, it is hard to keep any man still. It is just not your Bob that is hardheaded. Sorry, I do not mean to call your Bob a name. I can understand how you are feeling. I think it was a great idea to take him with you.

Congrats on your weight loss, that is awesome!

Happy Saturday, enjoy your day!

36 lbs?! Woo-hoooooo! You've such amazing will-power, Sandra. Given recent events, you'd probably have found me at the bottom of a pile of french fries and, licking peanut butter from my fingers.

Chuckling about Bob's vim and vigor. That has to be so frustrating; but at the same time, what a testament to his body's fabulous ability to heal.

You've got your work cut out keeping an eye on Bob so that he doesn't overdo things. Do take care of yourself too. You've done so well with your weight loss. I wish I could loss some weight.

You have your hands full!!
I have to admit I love his spunky spirit but keep reminding him that neither of you want to go through all that stuff again.
Hang in there time does have a way of going on.
Good for you and the weight loss. You are doing awesome...

It is good that he is feeling well enough to want to do these things, but he really should follow doctors orders. At least its not too much longer now.

NO HOME ALONE FOR BOB! You know tho - I am just like Bob - I am a work-a-holic and I LOVE to work. It is what keeps me going and he probably feels the same way. Good for both of you!

Unlike me, some folks you can't keep down! I personally have no issues with staying put when I have too. He is a go getter for sure. But..he needs to do what the doc says.

Oh Sandra, it is soooooo hard isn't it??? My Dad is the SAME way...thank goodness my husband is pretty good about following doctor's orders. Good Luck Hugs!

I know it is frustrating...oh, how I do know. But that hard headedness will get them through. Roger was down our basement stairs within the first week of being home. I could have about shot him myself....but you know, he made it and it made him have hope. I forget where I was when he did that...but I did not know it till he had done did it.

Yes glad he feels like doing all this work. But I understand your concern for his dr orders. Keep doing your job of watching him, you at least tried

Wishing all the best sweet Sandra my only suggestion would be to take him with you if you can get him to go every time and I wish you luck with that. He must be feeling pretty good with all he has been doing...hope he doesn't over do. Hugs

Maybe keeping himself active within his comfort level may keep his sporits up? Depression after surgery is not what either of you need. He is healing well and activity to a point keeps blood moving ereducinf clot risks. So glad he's on the mend and you are doing well on your weight loss.
