That Red Fish was This Big... |
Then in all the chaos Disaster Struck... "The Cable DVR Quit. as in did not work. At All.... "
It was like The End Of The World.
I had to decide to leave Bob Home Alone and fret over him or let him have another stroke because he could not watch NASCAR and NHRA.
TV won..
I drove straight to Spectrum and exchanged the DVR, Be glad you were not a fly on the wall while we hooked it up...
Alas! they changed the FORMAT... the menu on the screen, everything we use was DIFFERENT.. Bob Panicked. It was NASCAR/NHRA week end.. Disaster Averted, I figured it out...He calmed down, the whole week end was pre-recorded by Madsnapper
There it was, waiting to be watched and he went to hospital.
The good news was, when he came home 3 days later there was lots and lots, hours and hours of racing to watch.
I have pondered if the death of the DVR could have caused the stroke??? hummmm
We came home from hospital and Day Two at home.... NO CNN! the noise he made, OH MY!
the only channel missing out of 87 million was NOT THERE.. for hours...
I checked the TV in the bedroom. THERE it was.. He did not miss it enough to watch it on the tiny 36 inch flat screen (remember the 19inch). HE WANTED THE BIG SCREEN. I mean who cares, all they do is yada yada blah blah . (in my opinion)
Listening to his ranting, I picked up the phone and dialed 611 which is a direct line to Spectrum and GUESS WHAT..... I got a recorded message saying Due to high call volumn, we can not answer your call, If you are calling about missing channels ..We are Aware of The Problem with CNN, our engineers will have it repaired shortly.... whooo boy I bet those lines were HOT..
I do solemnly swear this is NOT a Whopper Story but the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

People who do not know you would never believe this. Never ever ever. On the bright side, you should not have any more problems for the next 20 years! I love this picture of Bob! We have one T.V. and it is in our living room and it is 36". Our living room is so small that anything else would take up half the space! But I wouldn't mind going up just a little bigger...
I wrote this in my little book of sayings 'When sorrows come they come not as single spies but in battalions' I think this would apply to you don't you.
Glad it's all over now, onward and upward for you both.

Well I would say you have covered your quota. I think you are eligable for smooth sailing from now on.
Love that picture, it does look like he's telling a whopper of a fish story.
Wade is the same way, if he can't get something on his man cave tv he won't watch on the either of the two smaller tv's
Hello Sandra, Wow, enough of the disasters and now I hope only good news coming from you. While we were in Florida, we had Spectrum and I thought they were pretty good compared to Comcast. In our house, when it comes to fixing things like the TV's, internet and computer it is usually me. Hubby does not have a clue. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend.
I would say you guys should have smooth sailing now. I am thankful to the Lord for answered prayers.
John is the same way about his tv and when anything goes wrong, he does not cope!
Chuckling as usual. When discussing ways to cut costs here, the extra sports t.v. package is never on the table, sigh.
I hope and pray that nothing more happens. I still hold you guys up in prayer. I hate to admit that I get just about as frustrated with the PBS channel Directv provides us with...last year it was out for over a month and I am not exaggerating. And they cannot even provide a tv schedule! That link is broken.,,,and I could go on but am sure you don't want to hear more!
I know you could never make all this up so....whew! I'm glad you all made it through!!
Best,
Bonnie
I have heard when it rains it pours...BUT MS when it rained on your all it was a torrential downpour. OMCs I think I heard your HBO words while hooking up the new DVR or maybe I just imagined them as they would have happened here too.
Last Saturday we went to SPECTRUM for a new remote...4 month old TWC remote was sluggish to say the least. At least when we arrived at the former TWC now SPECTRUM facility there was a guy standing at the door...lobby was FULL..
he said if you just need a remote I can get that. Yay no waiting. In the past TWC remotes were 'pre=programme' just just had to turn it on. I asked him if Spectrum's were he said now but all you have to do its blah blah blah, aka Quick programming. YOu don't have to program all your device numbers in it..Sounded easy . GUess what it didn't work. WE had to call the HOT LINE to Spectrum.
Hugs Cecilia
"Tiny" 36 inch screen?
;-)
In our apt building we are having a whole new system by Fall. Plus I can have a box in my apt like Wi-Fi .
The box will sit on my desk and I can plug phone into my computer U.S.B and this box U.S.B and phone all over the world. FREE.
And to have so many T.V channels. Each apt can buy for
not many dollars and choices of what each one wants.
My hubby is a soccer fan. We like Mysteries. Music.
And we can say good bye to Bell. Ya.
Now the very best for Bobs recovery and you can be at rest unless he don't pick up a chain saw and go up into a tree to take branches off. I think he did that way back. May not need doing again?
It seems that is how things go....one thing after another. Its crazy I know. Poor Bob!
Phew, you've had a lot to deal with these past few months! Good thing in the midst of disasters that YOU are good at the technical stuff. I know women (especially married women!) who haven't got the faintest idea how to deal with those kinds of problems... always leaving that to their husbands...
Whew...you had me totally out of breath for your saga of the last 2 months.
I do love the end of your story though.
Alls well that ends well...
So happy to hear Bob is doing great and your TV is healed.
Lots of ups and downs to keep you on your toes and the marriage "exciting".
It is true Sandra - man cannot live by bread alone - they NEED tv!
Hello Sandra!:) A stressful time for you both to be sure. Kudos to you for getting things sorted out. Americo knows far more about technical things than I do, I'm useless! Well done!:) I do so hope that your days will be stress free from now on. I love Bob's photo.
Take care!:)
First of all....LOVE!!!! that yellow moss rose in your previous post. And then, this post. I am sure glad Bud is not a NASCAR nor a CNN watcher [we both really dislike TV that much...except for NCIS, lol]
As long as I have a movie to watch once in a while either on the DVD player or online, I'm happy.
Another NASCAR fan! Tom and I aren't over the moon for it, but will usually stop what we're doing ...
Does Bob follow anyone in particular? (Much to DH's chagrin, I like the Bush brothers.)
Bob's so fortunate you're able to out-sleuth the gadget's hiccups. Embarrassed to admit, we've a DVR and have never bothered to learn to use it.
As Ginny says, a new blog follower wouldn't believe you, Sandra. I love that melanoma, strokes, doggy eye procedure and more doesn't stress Bob but missing CNN or Nascar drives him ballistic. Why do I, as a wife of an excitable old man, relate? LOL!
If BG ever had to go without his TV, he would go berserk. Glad to know all is better now and that Bob's doing good. Have a nice weekend!
Whew...this summer is one for your record books!!! I bet you are looking forward to a bit of "no trouble" time!!
Sending hugs!
Well I would say you two have had more than your share of not so good stuff going on so time for a long stretch of good stuff now. Glad it has all worked out and hope you both are having a terrific weekend. Hugs
If you think Spectrum is hard to get through too, try Direct TV! - Oh my gosh it's enough to make you want to swear (which I'm thinking you might have done through this ordeal).
Your life has been very busy with things that are not fun to deal with. I have Spectrum coming out today, wi-fi and phone are out. Sorry about your DVR and I assume you have to reset your favorite programs....I hate that!!!
