Happy Anniversary????

January 25th, 2015 this staghorn fell for the 3rd time. It fell in 2013 and 2014. Happy Anniversary on Jan. 25, 2018 celebrating 3 years on the ground

.... the good news is, IT LOVES being on the ground, it weighed about 100 pounds when it fell and now may way 20 pounds more and is healthy.

The reason is, The Man will not let me ask someone to help him hang it again and it is way to heavy for a one person job. The last time he hung it, he used a come-a-long, which is a contraction that removes engines from cars.... In 2014 that worked with just him and me standing screaming watch out its falling. These days we need 2 men and me to scream... The Rehang also included a stepladder that I had to hold while I screamed.

these photos are a few of the blindshots with my cell phone, above is our neighbors fence that IMRA blew down, that is now back up. With the winds from Irma if this had been in the tree it might have become a missile through our front windows. So Good news it has laid on the ground 3 years and did not crash into our house.

Yikes, this brought back memories; at a friend's party in Sydney, we were all enjoying her quite tremendous garden. She has one entire fence dedicated to orchids, bromeliads and then a corner with trees and stands with these staghorn ferns (and a heap of other fern varieties). Two days later we had one of those mini-typhoon things which started happening (this is about 15 years ago) in OZ... and that entire pride and joy was gone. Obliterated. The home didn't fare too well either. That corner with the trees? Much too close. It merged with the master bedroom.

See what happens when you trigger flashbacks!!! Hope you didn't get a sore throat with all that screaming. YAM xx

Hello, I have seen these plants in Florida. They are pretty. Does it really like if you leave it on the ground? I worry about all the tree around our house on a windy day. I can imagine Bob trying to hang the plant and your screaming. The neighbors may come running. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day!

I say leave it lay! It’s not worth all the stress of trying to get it back up there although, I do wish I could have been aneye witness to the two times you and Bob did get it up again!

Well that is a first...Happy Anniversary to your Staghorn......
I think it is definitely better off on the ground as well as Bob so he doesn't have to climb and you so you don't have to scream...
I sure love your twist on the simplest things.
Have a great Sunday.

How is your area doing now and how easily we forget. I think that plant loves it where it is.

I remember when you first mentioned staghorn, and I'd NO CLUE what that was! That's one stubborn organism, isn't it?
Love your comedic twist on what might have been an ugly accident!

Hello Sandra!:) The attractive staghorn fern does look heavy but it's healthy too, best to leave it just where it is, where it removes all anxiety from the difficult job of lifting it higher, and even gets a birthday mention!:=) I once tried to move something similar, and did my back in, for my trouble,... never again!

Thanks for getting back to me about your socks.:) Which reminds me of my wrist pocket. I wore mine all during my holiday, and it was a great success with my girls too, because I ordered some for their Christmas stockings, and they wear them when they run each day.

You read my mind I was going to ask if the fence was yours or your neighbors. Good thing that station was on the ground.

LOL after I hit publish I noticed that auto correct changed staghorn to station

Hilarious! Even though I am sick, I am laughing!! I can just picture you standing there screaming. Good thing it is not a hanging and living missile anymore!

It's hard for me to comprehend a free that huge, but then,I don't live in Florida. Here the Staghorn is used as a house plant or in green houses.
