Coffee and a Cut

I drove my friend Barbara to the Beauty Salon for a haircut this past Friday.
While sitting in this cute chair waiting, I saw the sign across from me, stating Unattended Children will be given expresso and a free puppy.. Gave me a good laugh! I bet this is a real deterrent!
The 10 pound purse on the left was Barbara's, the black purse to the right belonged to a stranger. Her cup of Expresso was from the Salons coffee bar and her phone that dinged and dinged and dinged the whole 30 minutes.  I said your phone has been dinging a lot, She said ding them I am busy.

She was getting long hair colored, I sat and wondered just how much it cost because Barbara got a short hair cut similar to mine and it was $30.00. Yowsa! I nearly fainted. I have not been in a salon since 1985 when $10.00 was a lot...   I will have to raise Bob's pay, he has been cutting my hair since 1985, every 4 weeks... this means we have save somewhere between 10 and 12 thousand. So where is the MONEY????
How much do you pay for a cut, not a wash and cut, just a cut? How often do you go? Details please

I love the sign!! We both go to a barber shop to get our hair cut only, nothing more. Barber shops are cheaper than beauty shops, and there are a lot of lady barbers. I believe it is around $15.00. I try to make one cut do me for three months. But I have a lot of layering, and when it went about five months last time, it looked awful!

Nope. Long hair here... twice yearly self-trim over the bath, just to square the ends. Can't see the benefit of money saved, cuz there was no money in the first place TO save... YAM xx

John and I go to the same lady - $12 cut for him; $15 for me. She is 5 min. down the street. I do not have the patience or money for some of the coloring jobs I see in the shop!!!

I go to SmartStyle in Walmart and I think it's about $15 for wash and cut. You pay for the wash whether you get it or not. I always add in for a tip so I pay $20.
I think the phone going off constantly would have driven me nuts. People should silence their phones when they are unable to answer them

Good morning, I would like an espresso and a free puppy. Cute sign. MY hairdresser has gone up over the years and I did pay $30 the last time.
But, I have been known to trim my bangs to avoid going. Enjoy your day!

OMCs I love love love that sign!!! That is hilarious.
There are a few salons in and around our city offering wine/beer with a haircut. No telling what they charge...seems like a big liability to me to offer alcohol. Maybe they have a bartender too who counts your drinks

I'd love to be an unattended child in that salon! I get my hair cut about 4 times per year, usually just before a camping trip to make it easy to care for when we don't have daily access to a shower/sink etc. I go to a cheapo place, where it costs $17. I once let my husband cut it, and it was a terrible idea (can you say very short hair?). I wear between chin and shoulder length usually!

I wonder why some people pay so much for perms AND color...what's the point! lol I pay $18 and give a $5 tip to get my hair shampooed and cut. I've been going to the same lady for 10 years or so and she has never raised her price. I go about every 4 to 6 weeks...when my bangs get so long I can't see out of them. How neat that your hubby cuts yours. Mine would probably like to! lol Hugs, Diane

I just have one question. My hubby and I get a little fussy at each other from time to time. Do you find that you get a better hair cut sometimes...than others? hahahahahaha!!!!

I go to a small salon in the city centre here where I can usually get a "drop-in" haircut. It costs me around 30 USD now too and I think that's at least cheap-ish (haven't seen anyone advertising cheaper prices nearby). My aim is to go every two months, sometimes it may be 10 weeks or so.

I'm on my way to get my hair washed and cut in just another hour.
I get a perm in another 7 weeks and then a cut 7 weeks after that.
$40.00 for wash cut and blow dry.
It's a lot of money but it is my spurge for just me.
I don't think I would want my Hubby to cut my hair...I do his though and have been for most of our married life.

Like you I am amazed when I see the prices of hair cuts etc.
We've both been cutting each others hair more or less since we got married. When I did go to the hairdressers before that they never did it how I wanted.

I hate to tell you what I pay. Where in the world do these women find these places so cheap?

$50 every 10 weeks.

Anxious! If this gal our realtor recommended doesn't return my call soon, I don't know where to turn! A few years ago I went to one of these franchise Supercuts places and it was 3-4 months before it grew out long enough to be corrected.
Since my hair (my Achilles Heel) is super fine and THIN, I anted up $137 every 4 weeks for a 'precision' cut -- that included a 2-color process. Those days are sure behind me!

PS - Does Barber Bob make house calls? :)

Rachael did mine for years, until she hurt her arm. I have only gone once, on Halloween (pretty brave of me, right?) and it cost $20.00, with $5.00 off because I was referred by a friend, so $15.00. She cut it too short because we had a misunderstanding about where my chin starts. Oh, well, I haven't had to go since, so maybe now it will be nine months to a year between cuts.

I sure wish the salon I went to had a coffee bar!!

That sounds like a very nice salon. Rarely has anyone cut my hair besides myself. I have not been to a salon in years and have no idea what a cut costs now days. That sign is great. Hugs

This will change when Mark retires but for now I go 4 times a year and it's $130. plus tip.

Here in SE Kansas the going rate for a haircut only seems to be $17. I go every 4 weeks. Last time I asked her to cut it a little shorter. Don't like it so now I am debating on whether to go next Wed. or put it off another week as I just want a trim here and there.

Seems you have raised a good topic here, Sandra. A cut and color every 7 weeks or so is my bit of vanity and splurge. I checked around for the best (lowest) cost when we relocated ti NH (it was less costly in VA) and pay $55. Of course, we were living in the country before and are now in what’s considered the city, so that’s another factor.

I pay $15 which includes the tip...and not sure how often I go. I do sometimes cut my bangs...think I last about 2 months but not sure.
