YAY! for Thrift Stores

I don't wander through thrift stores, I only go when I want a specific item. I do not do impulse shopping and only purchase what I have a need for.

My first stop is always Manatee Memorial Hospital Thrift. I can say that I have never gone there looking for something that they did not have it... The item I wanted was a tote to carry my TOPS Club books, papers and one I could drop a small purse that has phone and wallet in with the books.   Here in Bradenton, we have thrifts stores on every corner..

This black leather TOTE is Saks Fifth Ave and is perfect at 19 inches wide and 12 deep. The colorful bag, Kirna Zabete has my papers and booklets in it. The one closest to the black bag on line is 173.00 .  I paid $4.00 for the black and $2.00 for the colored one..  They had many totes that would have worked and some were only 1.00 but the leather one grabbed me...AS YOU READ THIS I AM AT MY TOPS MEETING WITH THE TWO BAGS, BUT ONLY BETWEEN 8:30 AND 10:30 AM. other than those times who knows where I am.

See the map, the yellow around blue is my house, the one the yellow point to is where I got these, the other 5 in a line, all of them are only six tenths of a mile from me. All the red shops are under 3 miles, if I widen to five miles it doubles the amount of stores and Linda Chapman, bloggers Thrift Queen would have to move here,

What a blessing that you found two such very nice/durable bags for a bargain price! Love it!

Finding bargains like that is always nice. Since it's only 4:46 while I'm typing this I know you are not at your TOPS meeting. I'm guessing you are drinking your morning coffee right now. Maybe even reading some blogs.
We have quite a few thrift shops around here but they are spread out. You've got way more than we do

May kind of walking 'mall'. There was a day that would have bankrupted me but I also learned to be more discerning.
Love you finds!

Amen to thrift stores!!!
Before our trip last June I was looking for a back back type bag that would be large enough for my iPad (I was not about to leave that in the hotel room) and a few essentials. Wallet, kleenx etc. I found it at a thrift too for 5 dollars. I need to check the brand it was some fancy one. We got a good chuckle. They only had one with a D on the flap. Bryan asked me what the D stood for. I said Diva. That 5.00 leather back pack was a life saver.
Hugs Cecilia
Great finds!!

Am a huge fan of what Aussies call 'Op' (opportunity) shops. Here in the UK, they are just called charity shops. Very mundane and in no way demonstrating the opportunity for thrift therein!!! You scored well with these bags. YAM xx

We have a few but prices here are not as thrifty. Rent is high so they have costs. I used to use them a few years back but now I tend to go more to sales at malls. Goodwill went bankrupt in Canada. 😢
Your bags look lovely.

Both bags look really good and the price is right. I don't go to thrift stores, but then again, we have very few and everyone seems to bring their junk there's I'm not interested.

What a wonderful array of shops! I dislike shopping "for shopping sake" with a purple passion, but have a real soft spot for thrift/consignment shops. Aside from a china cabinet (bleah ... more about that later), I can't think of anything I need. They were a life saver when the economy tried to belly-up in '08, and I had to buy clothes and shoes for work.

PS - I'll reply to comments on my own blog in a little while ... but to answer your question? My BF Debbie lives in St. Pete, but lately spends most of her weekdays in Bradenton, caring for her mother. Small world!

My husband buys a lot of clothes at thrift shops, and they're like new! And so inexpensive compared to buying them new. For me, it doesn't work so well because I am tiny. It's very rare that they have things that fit me, unless they are kids' clothes (which tend to wear out fast). For me, the internet has made finding clothes that fit SO much easier!

I love your bag! It's super nice, and I bet it was a fraction of the original price!

They are perfect! Glad you find what you wanted. I've only been to one thrift store. I can't even shop T.J. Maxx or Marshalls. It must be some OCD in me, they are just too messy.

There's nothing like a good bargain you little treasure hunter you!! Looks like you have quite the find. I'm not one to go into our thrift stores, they always have a funny smell to them haha I"m sure I"m missing out on some good deals though.

Like you I like to jump in a thrift store when looking for something special that I want....but then again, a lot of time I like to go in and and just look! I also tend to surf to all things (that I wear) that is black. I am trying, so hard to break that habit.

You sure got a bargain there. Its amazing how many Thrift shops are in that small area. How do they all manage to be successful?

It’s always great to find a bargain in a thrift store and and I also enjoy flea markets. For me, it’s fun just browsing and finding items that sometimes can be sent as surprises to friends or things I didn’t reallynknow I “needed”
