A-Salt-ed Plus Flower Friday

Joining Rosy at LLB Backyard for Flower Friday

Thursday lunch was a Hoagie from Noreens Deli, after my weigh in meeting at TOPS.

Thursday is our one day I allow myself to EAT OUT or BRING IN... NO cooking!!!!

The Royal wedding kept me home and in front of the TV all morning, on my regular shopping day.

Oh Well, she says to herself, LETS GO GET PIZZA.... we did! I also had Broccoli Cheese Soup.

Enough SALT for 3 or 4 days..   Alas! Sunday AM stepping on the scale I was UP 2 pounds since Thursday.

And dressing for my shopping at Walmart MY NEW RINGS DID NOT FIT. Think sausage fingers

Can you say WATER RETENTION caused by SALT?

I drank a full glass of water, ate a banana and 2  pieces of watermelon and when I got to Wal-Mart I did a LOT of extra walking.

I knew to do this because for the past few weeks I had been researching what causes water retention and how to get rid of it if a person DOES SOMETHING STUPID...

You can stop right here if you don't need to know about foods that help.

I was A-salted by me, myself and I...…

If retaining water, add exercise, drink a lot of water. eat fresh fruits, veggies

Here is a list of a few foods that help

8 Diuretic Foods That Can Help You Lose That Water Weight
Cucumber. Cucumbers have a high water content and contains caffeic acid that helps to get rid of water retention in our body. ...
Cranberry. It is full of antioxidants and vitamin C, and helps in flushing out all the excess water. ... eat foods HIGH in potassium.
Watermelons. ... full of potassium and water content (if you know you are eating high salt for lunch, it helps to eat a banana or watermelon for breakfast)
Celery. ...
Ginger. ...
Carrots. ...
Lemon. ...
Cinnamon.
Dried Apricots..
I have lots of cinnamon on my cooked apples.

I eat SO much salt! I crave it! There must be something about my body that needs salt because I have eaten a lot of it all my life! I don't retain a lot of water and my sodium is always in range when I have my yearly bloodwork done. I have to hide all the salt I eat when I'm around my grandchildren. I am not advocating that eating a lot of salt is good for anyone! So I try not to set a bad example when little eys are watching me......

Thanks for this info - one comes across such a lot of health tips on the internet but also soon forgets, or get them mixed up. I like salt and I don't count every grain I use but I sometimes use herbal salt mixes in cooking instead of regular salt. (And I mostly do my own cooking, it's very rarely that I buy for example pizza nowadays.) I didn't know bananas were good for this as well; but I do start every morning with a glass of water + a banana (or half, depending on size), together with my bunch of various medicines... I like bananas, and also find them helpful when swallowing big pills! :)

Thanks for the tips. I've read about how some of those foods can be very good but getting myself to switch to eating things like that has proven very difficult. Isn't it funny though that to reduce water retention, you eat foods with a high water content?

Celery is my main 'go to'... it is also good for the rheumatoid joints as it helps eliminate acids from the body. Celery and carrot soup is one of my regulars - and I keep the broccoli and cheese soup for Christmas and Easter feasts! Love the jacaranda flowers. YAM xx

Hello, thanks for the info and list of foods. MY hubby has a problem holding fluids. His ankles and legs blow up, from eating out. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

We just have to Keep On ...Keeping On....

The struggle is so real. I'm so glad there are things that can counteract that water retention.

I guess I am really an addict...once I eat sugar especially, I want more and can't seem to control the binge.

I have been eating some fruit lately trying to satisfy my sweet tooth without it being the processed kind. Since my A1C numbers are with in normal range I feel I can do that every so often.

Crazy life isn't it?

Just keep plugging on. You look terrific!

Salt has the very same effect on me! Yep, I remember smearing vegetable oil on my rings to get them on.
10 years ago I pretty much weaned myself off sodium; but some days a girl's GOT to indulge. (To this day, I'd rather have a salty snack than something sugary.)

Good to know about cucumbers! I dilute Diet Cranberry juice in my water bottle every day, but can't (won't) touch watermelon.

Don't forget, tho, if you tend to sweat a lot...you're losing sodium & all the good electrolytes your body needs. A bit of salt is good for intake. Just don't over-do (moderate)

Thanks for the list. I eat most of those pretty often. I don't have cranberries too often.

Dandelion tea or capsules are very effective for excess water removal. That plant is a natural diuretic not to be over used. I am surprised you left your routine to watch the wedding. I watched a rerun later in the day.
