Thursday Thoughts

Left over creation from the Royal Wedding, yes I know he is a duke
I am back, feeling better, Jake is better, we have had 3 nights of sleep. Below is What Happened last week..trying to make a LONG Story Shorter.

Past week
Vertigo for 2 days.
5 nights, no more than 3 hours sleep, due to dog pacing/panting/not sleeping/coming to side of bed for me to help him.
Bob is deaf hears nothing, I wake if a gnat sneezes, hear everything.

crushing headache off and on about 10 days

Varicose veins throbbing.

Water retention weight gain 3 lbs overnight. (possibly caused by comfort/stress
of pizza and the eating thereof.)
I had only exercised 2 days out of 7, due to long holiday week end and other things. I exercise a LOT, 5 days a week.
day 6
all night ear ache PLUS crushing headache...deside to visit primary

Thursday , 6:50 am, walk in to  Primary Doc office, stating I have no appt. Doc was standing
there at the desk, said send her back now.

The only question he asked was why are you here, I answered ear ache. And 4 days ago I had vertigo for 2 days, gone now. He  Looks in ears, they are clear.
takes BP it is 144/90 takes other arm 142/92,

squeezes jaw, squeezes neck and says the pain is TMJ, buy a sleeping device and use it.
I am sending a new prescription to take in addition to your current bp meds, another type of bp med .
NOTE: he never looked at my records, did not ask a single question and did not know about all the stress listed above, did not know I have lost a lot of weight and am very strict with diet and exercise. he based the decision on one time BP measurement.

I got out of my car at 6:50 and was back in car at 7 am, including visit and check out.

I am not quick on the uptake, and time to think. I pick up new med and
I look up new med, with scary side effects all of which my current has the same side effect,
one of which is dizziness. so now TWO pills that cause dizziness (remember the vertigo)

I google to find where I can get my BP checked and find Walgreens will do it. I have Bp taken, it is normal.

I go to Publix pharm which is where I buy my meds, speak at length of meds I am taking and to be taken. She agrees when I say I am NOT taking the new meds, I will use diet/exercise.

Today is ONE WEEK later, my BP has been perfect 4 times a day... without the meds. I go back on the 14th for him to check me out and will have to tell him I chose to ignore his advice. OH JOY

I am off today to my TOPS and will let you know if I lost any more weight.

Hello, I am glad you are feeling better. Vertigo is an awful feeling. So are the headaches. Sleep is very important to our health, I am told over and over. I hope your TOPS meeting has good news. Happy Thursday, Enjoy your day!

I agree with you that it is wise to take a serious look at the meds and their side effects. So thankful you are feeling better.

Question? what type of sleeping device did the doc want you to use? Is this your reg doc? I have found that you have to take control a lot of times of your own health...that being yrs ago I went to see the gastro doc for the way my tummy was doing. I got sick feeling all the time, sometimes I would throw up others I would not. Then some days there was pain while others not. It was on going and still is I just know how to control a little now. I went through several test only to be told there was nothing wrong....but before going to be told that I did some research, I was sure I had IBS. Now at the time I did not realize there was a link between that and fibro. What it all amounts to is over active nerves and since you have those in your gut it makes for that area to be over active also. Caffeine being the worst on the IBS. So...the only caffeine I take in is my morning coffee and I limit that to one cup. I love tea but I do decaf with that. Anyway....long story short, I did my research so when I went it after the last test and was told nothing was found I asked could it be IBS and was told that is what they were thinking but they had to rule out anything else first.. Same thing recently with a pain in my side where my kidney is. Ultra sound showed nothing, I figure it was maybe cause I was not taking in enough fluid. I tried drinking more and it seems to have helped some...so there is my thoughts, you have to try to catch and decide what the docs don't find with all the fancy test!

Although I can't fault the treatment Tom had with his recent hospital stay I generally do not like Doctors.
In the past too many things have happened to make me doubt their advice.
I rarely go to see mine, I have to be half dead before I make an appointment.
So pleased that you are now sorted out.

As a homoeopath, I approve your choices!!! This type of speedy and uninformed assessment happens more and more with doctors under timed appt stress and it has often led to worsening or at least no improvements for folk, as well as inappropriate and over-prescribing. Long may your improvements hold!!! YAM xx

When someone really takes a look at themselves and self checks - I think the best doctor is themselves. We can get into trouble sometimes when doctors don't listen to us. We have to do it ourselves.

I can tell you feel better - I am glad.

So many things can affect our blood pressure. They are always quick to prescribe medications. I say no often to my doctor's. I'm glad you and Jake are feeling better. Stress and lack of sleep are very harmful to us.

Thankful you studied the new med before taking it. I hate when dr. won't listen to us. Praying you feel better soon.

Sometimes I think doctors are useless. What is the sleeping device he wants you to use?

I have a friend who is a pharmacist. She said with medication there is always a side effect, so you are choosing which effect you want to have, the illness or the medicine. Glad you got yours worked out!

The picture of Harry is sad somehow. So is he no longer a prince or can he use both titles?

I hope you continue to feel better...the vertigo is terrible. Not impressed with the doctor giving you a prescription in such a hurry. Very scary! Take care!

Amazing Saga Sandra.
I'm so glad you are feeling better and I'm glad you went with your "Gut" and didn't make matters worse.
I'm sure the weight will get back to normal very quickly.
I'm on the same Slippery Slope this week too. Too much party and snack cravings.
Down 1/2 pound today...some days are harder than others.
Tired of yo yo-ing.

That is good news, so glad you and Jake are feeling better. You have certainly been through it but seem to have turned a corner. Keeping fingers crossed that this continues.

A gnat sneeze? I'd not heard that one before, but ya! I'm the same way. I don't know if Tom's hearing loss is a blessing or a curse.
Dismayed(!) at the impersonal and seemingly abrupt way your doctor acted. What's next, we'll go in and be hooked up to a giant diagnostic machine like in an automotive garage? Consulting the pharmacist sounds wise; I suspect they know more about medicines than the doctors these days. You know, do ONE thing and do it well.

I really wonder about doctors sometimes....how could he know what was wrong with you without asking a few more questions???

Oh well, glad you(and Jake) are feeling better and are back on track.
