Nature Friday - Calliandra haematocephala

Calliandra haematocephala. HA! lets call it Powder Puff Tree. During December through April it is covered in blooms. Native to South America but is every where here in Florida.

A Sappy Story by MADsnapper
Once upon a time, there was a power puff tree, that was pining away for new bark. It could not get to the root of the problem, because it was always to trunk to think of the answer. It spruced itself up with red flowers and went to elementree school, but alas was not very popular. It shrubbed its shoulders, and said I got off on the wrong root, I will have to start again in Septimber...

the bush is larger than my SUV about 8 or 9 feet tall

The Powder Puff! I love it. I have saved a whole folder of your pics of it over the years. Did you make up this story? It is super clever!!! Gosh, the blooms last almost half a year! Seems it is perfect.

That is a beautiful bush. We have them here too but I don't think they are as nice as our own native bottle brush trees.

I have to call it a powder puff tree because I can't pronounce it's other name. It's really pretty.

LOL your sappy story made me happy!! What a gorgeous flower.
Dang it I turned my left (and weaker) ankle while we were walking today.
I stepped of a curb awkwardly. I have iced it, have a salon pas patch on it an thankfully I still have my Ace Ankle Brace from my last episode.

Wow, it is really pretty!

Saw you post on Charles Chips. They never delivered where we lived in Illinois but had them through my MIL in Texas. I had some delivered right before Christmas. The Vermont Country Store carries them and they are so delicious. They still make them!

Wow, gorgeous and the poem is super. Love your play on words.
My "nature" day is very gray, damp and chilly.
I really don't like this time of year....everything is sloppy and murky.
I do have my carpet of camilla petals on the ground again. the rain just strips the blossoms from the bushes. I can't believe how many blossoms are on these things.
Hope you are having a great day.

The colors are perfect for the holiday season just passed. Does it bloom at only certain times of the year, Sandra?

Phunny girl!!! You're so fortunate to see that everyday.
Aside: When I went to pronounce its 'real' name out-loud I was reminded of something Tom always says (when I butcher some pronunciation): "You do and you're going to have to clean it up." :)

The bush is magnificent. The flowers really look bright and beautiful even when they start to go over with trailing fluffy bits.

I must take time to visit Florida as it has been too long. Only issue is Trump and airport workers have me stuck. Hope it ends befor it gets too hot.
