Trouble R on The Way

Big Boy sat up and peered out the window, I went to see what he was looking at. As I shot these through the window glass, I told Big, get ready Big, we got trouble on the way... for a LONG TIME.

It took EIGHT people to dig TWO holes, actually it took 2 people, the others were WATCHING.

2 weeks ago, a letter was hung on our door knob warning that for the next 370 days, they would be replacing the water mains in our sub division, starting on our street. As you can see, it looks like we will be first in line to have the street dug up and who knows what else. We are in Waiting Mode. sigh

My question is, if it took Eight to dig Two holes, HOW MANY will it take to dig the whole street up? Can you hear the Back Hoes? I can...  The Good News is.. Big Boy doesn't bark.. YET

Oh man! All I can say is; it is a very good thing you don't sleep late! Because if you did, you wouldn't be now, for a whole year! Maybe if they all chipped in, it wouldn't take as long. Good thing B.B doesn't get agitated easily!

Our neighborhood, homes built in the early 1950's, continuously have either gas line or water line work, or sewer line work done on various homes throughout the year. I've never noticed eight people watching while two dug, but a lot of the time its two or three watching while one digs. i think they switch off with the digging sometimes, maybe it's a safety thing to require a certain number of people present. I've seen them on days when it was rainy and cold, and boiling hot working down in those holes, and then I hope they will be ok. But then again I've seen them where they were all standing around the hole some leaning on shovel handles just peering into the hole and I wonder what they are all looking at down there.

I know one thing, I don't think I could physically dig a hole that deep even at gunpoint. My knees are stressed digging holes for tulip bulbs.

My little Fuzzy Pomeranian is 14 years old and almost deaf now. I doubt if he would hear them digging unless it was next to his doggie bed.

Well at least they are starting right there and then they will move on down the road so it won't be right in front of you the whole time.
It amazes me how many workers are always on the job and very few are actually doing any work. They could save a boatload of money if they only sent out what they needed.

What is it with workmen that so many are neede to do these jobs?
At least you don't get much rain where you are, over here it would be mud being trodden in, ugh.

Oh dear me that looks like the year that Google and AT&T came into our 'hood to enhance things for us LOL. What got our goat was they came in about 4 months apart and digging in the same post that the first one dug.

Peace will be rare when the start on the street digging
Hugs Cecilia

Louis Dean always counts how many men in a construction crew are actually working! Glad Big Boy is not a big barker! At least if they start on your street you may not have to listen to construction a whole year as it will steadily move further and further away......

Well that should be interesting! Hope it doesn't give you trouble at your house. Doesn't it frustrate you when you see so many people and only a few actually working. Skye only barks on Thursday's when she hears the lawn guy. Otherwise she barks at birds outside.

Oh my...the noise and mess for the future.
I know when they repaved our neighborhood how noisy and inconvenient things got.
Glad Big Boy isn't a barker...yet....
Crazy how many it takes to "dig" a hole.
I can't wait for the further installments of this saga.
Frost this morning but it's all disappeared before I could snap a picture.

I love that six people were watching! Not what they did, but how you logged it on your blog. I have been blogging delinquent, but hope to do better over the weekend.

It always amazing how many people it takes to do City Road projects....our taxes at work!

What a hassle! Noise. But, on the bright side...your street is first. I've often wondered what AT&T groups do with their time in those manhole openings...play cards?

What's that saying, "So many chiefs and too few Indians."?
Does it/will it bother you having 8 pair of eyes on you when you step out to walk? Perhaps you can set up a lemonade stand and collect some 'mad money.'

Ready made entertainment right outside your window. Hopefully this doesn't mess with your day to day life too much.

Yikes, you have my sympathy. It is the same over there too. We have a lot of construction going on in various areas, none too close at the moment, touch wood! We pass by big holes with several people standing around them looking down at one or two actually in the hole. It looks comical and makes us smile but then I wonder if it's for safety reasons? I think we will have to ask them.

Well I am glad that you are getting it done first at least and that Big Boy doesn't bark yet. Disco would have a nervous breakdown for sure.
