To Blog or Not To Blog Part 1

Screen shot above of my first blog post on August 28, 2008 HERE

I have been bummed and thinking Why DO I Blog? for What reason do I do this?  Do I want to continue?  Should I find another Hobby? I am out of things to blog about.

One thing led to another. (this happens in my mad mind a lot)

Looking at my first post...I thought why did I create it. Answer was I had a zillion photos, my friend Bev sent me her blog post and I thought I CAN DO THIS... it will be a place to show photos. And to show my Microsoft Picture it Creations.

My Mad Mind said, How did I know about Picture It to make the creations? how did I know to buy Microsoft Picture it software? Do I still have the CD from 2002? NOPE! it was declared extinct by Microsoft and I threw it away. Now I find I paid $9.99 for it and on ebay it is selling for 15.01...even though it will not work on a new computer.

By this time I have killed over and hour with a few questions.

I glance to my left, pull out one of two drawers stuffed with CD's. I have not touched the drawers or CD's in YEARS. I STOP to count 122 CD's because I want to know how many are in the drawer.

the first year is 2002, I grab a CD that says 2002, Walmart and it has photos of Baby and Cooper on the front cover, I place the CD in the drawer that doesn't want to open because it has not been used in years.
It takes 87 years to populate on my monitor and I think, THAT is why I don't use CD,s any more.

When it opens it says Install Picture It on your computer? No, just show me the photos, dummy, it will not work on the computer, just show me the photos please.

I waste another  10 minutes figuring out how to SEE the photos and NOT install anything which would not install anyway. I see them but to open each one is giving me a head ache because it takes 60 seconds per photo to open each one.

I drag the folder onto the desk top and pray for patience during the THREE minutes it takes to end up there.

I bought the camera, could not get photos in the computer, had no printer to print them, took the SD card to Walmart and had them printed and they put My first photos from my first camera on my first CD.
I came home
Aha! the answer to how I knew about Picture It software was a paper in the CD that said Purchase Picture It and edit, create, print and while you buy the software get a printer for 99.00.
I DID THIS! when I bought the software.
That is only the beginning of a post that has now taken 2 hours of my life, because I typed Too Blog or Not to Blog as a post title and  now this post will  BE continued because I am to tired to type the rest....my mind is still racing and wandering.
Wake Up you can leave now.

Do NOT tell me you are thinking of quitting. Because I do not want to read or hear of it. The reason you do it is simple!! It's the same way anyone picks a hobby...you like it. You have fun playing with editing, and keeping up with your blog friends. And you have a talent for it as well. It's more than writing or crafting because it is interactive with people. So why even think of why. You like it and are talented at it, and many people have not found anything they love like this.

I understand, I felt that I was spending so much time trying to think of interesting things to blog about it was not fun any more. I may come back one day but its so nice not to have to keep worrying about it a I have more free time.

I think most of us who have been blogging for a long time feel like that from time to time - that we're repeating ourselves and it's hard to come up with something new. (And I think that goes for every other kind of writer and artist as well.) But Ginny is also right about blogging being an interactive hobby, which makes it different from just writing a private diary, or putting the photos into a private album or desk drawer. For one thing, blogging keeps us in touch with a number of friends that we got to know over the years with the same kind of obsessions (and doubts!) ... ;) And for another, you never know, someone new might also happen to drop in who never came across your blog before, and for whom all of it is NEW...

I go through a lot ifvthesecthoughts, too. And when life gets difficult, I really want to stop....or like now it is hard to keep going when I dont get out to take the type of photos I like to take...but so far I keep plugging away. Till.i take the next break!

I used to blog every day when I first began blogging. It evolved from Chronicles to Day trippin'. Now I'm doing good to have two posts a week. There is more to life than blogging. BUT to be honest, I KNOW I'd miss visiting others such as yourself!!

I agree with Ginny. I don't want to hear that you are quitting blogging. I would miss you terribly. I love your sense of humor. I can relate to the feeligs of why am I doing this. I struggle a lot to come up with something new but it's a challenge that keeps me going. If I'm boring anyone then they only have to click out and if they choose to not return in the future so be it.
The friendships I have forged through blogging make the effort of continueing to post so woth it.

I read all the previous comments, Sandra, and can identify with you thoughts and those if others and your own. Many days I have had similar thoughts as well because at time blogging is a commitment. I don’t mean that it’s not enjoyable because I do like to read about what others are doing and about their lives, family, travels. But it is time consuming and when I don’t have the time to read other bloggers posts, I often feel badly. It’s why I no longer blog daily, but when on a road trip, like we are now, I enjoy sharing out adventures and hope others enjoy reading about them as well. We blog because it is a creative outlet and you are certainly one of the most creative bloggers, Sandra. It’s always fun to see what you are learning about various programs even if I never try them myself. Thanks for adding lots of fun to my blog reading and for sharing your life with we fellow bloggers.

Hello Sandra,

I find taking blog breaks helps, but I could never imagine you quitting your blog. At least I hope you are not stopping. Like the others above said you have a talent for editing the photos and having fun and sharing them on your blog. I would miss you and seeing BB too.

do not give up on your blog, sandra. i feel you, i'm currently in the same boat;. but posting daily just doesn’t work for me. please, don't even think of quitting blogging. you're so talented and your posts are always interesting and i always enjoy your photos. you're one my beloved bloggers. i would probably say posting daily is a bit much, for me in any case as I don’t have the time to post daily. as eileen said...taking blog breaks helps.

Oh you blog because you know I(one of thousands) of your friends would
worry to death with email blasts asking where are you I need a Mad Snapper fix. Not having sweet Angel Madi put me in a funk...until I remembered
I started the blog all because of her and w/o her I would not have enriched my life with friends like you and I would never have learned all the stuff I know about blogging. LOL

Ditto to so many of the things the others have said. Where else can I follow the life and times of a few lizards living in bathing suits--hahaha.

As to old programs, I still use WORD 2007 which is no long supported. It works just fine; it just means the 'experts' will no longer help me if it doesn't work fine.

Which brings me to Windows7. It will only be supported until January of next year. Now that will be a BIG decision. Of all the versions I have used in the last maybe 30 years it has been my favorite and I have heard so many complaints about 10 that I'm not enthusiastic about it. . . . .

Anywho I'm looking forward to YOUR next BLOGPOST so keep them coming.

I agree with Ginny 100%! I’m truly shocked! Shocked, I tell you, that you would even consider leaving us! What would we do? Where would we go for our Mad moments???
If you truly dislike doing it - well, that’s one thing. But your blog is relational. We know you and Bob and Big and and your life matters to us! We are friends and I pray for you and you’ve prayed for me. And think how much trouble and time it would take to keep up with all the friends you’ve made if you had to write us all individually? Your blog is truly important work! Now snap out it and start snapping again!!!

I would miss our friendship if you stopped blogging, Sandra. Friendship is part of the enjoyment of blogging. I often think I'll stop blogging, but it's the creative process of sharing my world that's satisfying and the enjoyment of learning from other bloggers. When a comment pops up from you I'm really happy. You see things in a unique way and tell it like it is. Keep blogging whatever you feel like to blog about. Thank you Sandra.

Now I'm afraid to read Part 2!!! You've certainly got my pulse racing.
What, it seems I just 'found' you and I'm NOT prepared to lose you! :)
Actually, Linda (above) said it best. I was reading and nodding like a bobble-head. We love you, girl!

I'm exhausted and confused after reading that. I don't have any photos on CD's. Without blogging how would we stay connected?

You had better not quit blogging!!!
I love your quirky way of talking about Life.
Take a break if you need to but come back!!!!!

Well, you are not alone. I sort-of stopped blogging about a year ago. Have been wondering about what to do myself.

Yesterday I met blogging friends in real life, "Beatrice and Grenville" from over at the Frog and PenguINN. It was fantastic to meet "efriends". You have many of us here. Keep up your blog, even if you slow down the pace.

Hang in there and keep on blogging. This is one way that many of us stay somewhat connected. Unless of course you switch to Facebook and share everything there.

I loved your first blog post. Please don't even kid about not continuing. You were among the bloggers that contributed to my emotional and physical progress after my 2011 hemorrhagic stroke. I bet I am not the only one you helped get through tough times through your photos, art, humor and observations. Now I'm off to your Part 2.

We do not know how many hours are ours but glad we can have a quick friendly exchange as we age gracefully using tech. We are are small group in our age who do.
