Our flag flies today, all over the USA. It is the 4th of July and they fly to remind us of our freedom.
Our world now lives in the shadow of the bomb. Yet we celebrate our freedom with loud fake, sparkling bombs that cost many dollars, while children go hungry and our citizens die in the streets.
I wondered as I wandered up and down looking at the entire store decorated in Red, White and Blue, If anyone shopping for these items, even thinks of what our freedom cost and if in just a few moments it could all be lost.
How many are piling there baskets full of all these THINGS to party with and never vote or care about our country or other countries that have no freedom.
Let us remember....
"Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better." Albert Camus
As we celebrate, lets all remember to BE BETTER. Big things start with one person.

I agree. Your first photo art is wonderful! I cannot tell what is real and what you made. Even comparing the first two photos it is hard to tell. I hope no one sets off noisy things on your block, poor B.B.!! What does he do?
When you live in a free country like you do, and we do, its hard to imagine what it must be like to not be free. Have a good day.

Sandra - this is a fabulous post! Thank you for these thoughtful words and reflections on what independence celebrations could (should?) be. I hope you and Bob and Big Boy have a most wonderful day together! YAM xx
Happy 4th of JUly. Awesome post for today.
Great quote.
And I wonder if the Wonder Bread is made in America?
Not only do I think that about buying 4th if July celebrations items But I think how much I spend on the cats and what it could do for children....or my sewing stuff...
Yes Sandra indeed ...why do so many find fireworks joyful the are just scary and cause so many to react in fear.
Wonder(ful) post

Yes Sandra it is a special day for USA and it seems this one is going to be great for some and he’ll for the needy, a group growing larger daily. The DC spectacle by the president really make me wonder about why he is so able to fool people with his very personal agenda to make himself seem greater . He is so hopelessly out of touch with the real power that now lies in a cyber world. Tanks are just relics of past.
And you make a great point about money to help poor but socialism is disliked by many Americans. And the retailers are happy to sell all they can as profit is the most important on any occasion. Bread wrapped in plastic regardless of its decor is another big issue that is controlled by industry and plastic will not go away to save the planet. Retailers have increased plastic packaging while charging us if we wish a plastic grocery bag..
A lot of waste will be generated today.
If I were there I would send a care package to the needy. Imagine if all of those who need a hand would get just that today. That would make for a great day for all in USA. I hear your concerns. Your pix just show how controlling our retailers have become.
Happy July 4th with Bob and BB .🇺🇸
Wonderful post Sandra and I certainly agree. I won't watch any of that spectacle in DC which really just amounts to a giant re-election campaign rally for that person I refuse to say the name of.
What a wonderful, heartfelt and thought provoking post MS!!
You've expressed this so wonderfully! Sadly, ours is no longer the country in which we grew up.
Applauding from the wings!
Some seriously beautiful art here. love all of them! Happy 4th!! Xoxo
Love the bottle cap sign. I agree with your statements.
I agree with you.
Happy 4th of July to the best country in the entire world.
Good thoughts. People love to celebrate but too often forget the reason for that celebration.
I still have faith in our country and it people. And recently it a little hard.
But will enjoy a good fire work show.
Coffee is on
Great post!!! Happy 4th of July. I'm proud to be an America and I love my country!!
All of what you said in this post is so sadly true, Sandra. But thankfully there is also much good in the world and great folks who do recognize and value freedom. We have never bought or exploded fireworks and our holiday was soent quietly with neighbors. We did watch a display at night from our apt.
Absolutely SUPERB!!!! Thank you for your honesty and candor, I couldn't agree with you more. All people seem to care about is the "party" aspect of the 4th. Wonder where they will be in 2020?
A very thought provoking post for the 4th of July, and I enjoyed reading it. Our family members whom we've lost, we always think of them on the 4th, especially the veterans, all veterans really and what they gave up for this day. We spent ours with family for a few days and have just returned.
