So! and nature Friday

SO, I was standing at the kitchen sink peeling boiled eggs to put in potato salad. As I pondered the mystery of why eggs peel perfectly if  I am  chopping them up for salad, but if I am taking them as deviled eggs to a party, the shell comes off in 87 pieces pulling half the egg with it.

I realized the peeled egg was turning red. WHAT?  I rinsed the egg, put it on the potatoes, and held pressure until it stopped bleeding.

As I chopped the perfect egg into the salad, I pondered why the skin on the end of my fingers is now so thin an egg shell can pierce it like a knife?  OLD AGE is the answer.
Would you have used the egg or thrown it away or given it to your dog?
PS.. this led me to wonder how many times people in restaurants have bled on the eggs and rinsed and used anyway OR did they just throw them in?

Senior Questions... you can answer even if you are NOT a senior yet.

Is your skin thinning with age ? Is it easily pierced or torn?
Do you run into door sills that have been in the same  place for 30 years?
Do you stub your toe while walking on a floor and there is nothing there?
If you lean to your right or left while walking do you almost fall over?
Do you have any other signs of aging I forgot to mention?

Our avocado tree that Bob planted from a seed. We want it gone if anyone has an extra "2000.00

I have everything on your list and more. I cannot stand anymore unless I have something to lean or hold onto. I also have Vaso Vagal syndrome and will pass out cold if I have to stand too long. This happened at the post office last year and they had to call 911. And yes, my onion turned bright red awhile ago. I cut off the bloody part, and used the rest. Lately I have bought all kinds of cheap gizmos to keep from cutting myself. Cut-proof gloves, a thing with long sharp tines to hold the food away from the fingers, and palm peelers; which broke immediately upon the first use.

So far the skin thinning hasn't quite hit me - but I see it in the father's skin. I do have several other things that are going askew though - and the stubbing toes and banging into doors or jambs that were always there I have been doing for some time now! YAM xx

Well as for the egg peeling, the fresher an egg is the harder it is to peel.
I don't think I have a problem with cutting myself easily yet but I do frequently run into things and trip over things that aren't there. My biggest problem is trying to stand up straight after sitting for a while. I sit for a few minutes and my back stiffens up really bad.

That's crazy about the avocado tree getting that big! Who knew!!! And my hubby has the thin skin that's easily torn...we thought it had to do with the drugs he takes. My nose drips. Don't ask me why but if I bend down to get things on a lower shelf at the store, my nose will drip. Is that a senior moment? I'd love to know! heeheehee!

OOH dear now you have me pondering what I'd do if I cut my finger will peeling eggs. That is too funny about peeling eggs for potato salad that are perfect and ones for deviled eggs messin' up.
As for aging, if I sit too long getting up is an issue. LOL But once up I'm stable.

Yes, I have something to add...I cannot bend over in the dark without I about fall! And just wait till you are off your feet for months...let me tell you it is weird. I am basically over this, and never had it real bad, but would be walking along and just totally lose/forget my balance. Luckily, I was always near something to grab on to when it happened. I always wondered what people thought if they saw me. My skin is thinner, but I don't notice it easily injured yet...Roger's is though.

That tree is amazing! Bob's the only person I've heard of that actually got a pit to grow.
Girl, I've been walking into door frames and stubbing toes all my life. Lately, just like my mother my skin will turn purple if I accidentally bump it. Hers used to tear, too … but I figure I've too much fatty tissue going on. Shoot. For the longest time I thought I was immune to these things … humbling, for sure!

YES TO ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS - my only worry now is if people who make food in restaurants bleed into our food. Hopefully they wear gloves. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, that's some tree Bob grew from the pit.
At the price of avocados I kind of wish I had that tree.
I have what I call "Old Lady Skin"...Really it's started in the last few years and My arms always look like I have been in a battle.
You should have seen especially my right arm after the week of prepping meals for our Breakaway dinners.
AWFUL...Every time I took things out of our church walk in freezer..Bammm there was another bruise or skin tear. Ugh, I have the thin skin. I think part of it is because I am so fair skined.
After sitting for long periods of time I tend to walk like I have a "load" in my britches...it gets much better with movement.
Glad I can still move though and still do Stuff!!

All the rest aside, you have now made me hungry for potato salad.

My goodness, I did a body check after reading your post! I do have old lady skin but not the balance issues yet at age 69. I do have Macular Degeneration and have been tripping over things with some subsequent bad falls for many years. I have eye treatments and I am very careful with steps, etc. The good news is our can dos out number our can't dos!

Yes, to number one. No to the rest of them. Other things: My legs don't seem to work as well as they once did. May be old age, more likely diabetes. But the most profound thing is getting tired, so, so tired. Still glad I can see, hear, feel no pain most of the time, don't forget stuff, can drive, and many other great things that I had no idea I would feel or be like at this age (79).

Now what did you ask, Sandra? I'll have to scroll back up to find out. Ha ha. Yes, it's not so much the poor balance thing and so on, but lack of concentration I suffer from. Those 'senior moments' of temporary memory loss are no fun. Bob's avocado tree is amazing.

For me the way I do soft boil egg. If I boil them in salt water about 1 tablespoon. For about ten minutes and run them over cold water. Seem to peel much better.
Coffee is on

Your avocado tree is amazing considering it came from a seed. Really beautiful!

Is your skin thinning with age ? Is it easily pierced or torn? Not yet but I've noticed a difference and my skin is definitely aging. I have a friend who bruises very easily with the slightest bump.

Do you run into door sills that have been in the same place for 30 years? Occasionally.

Do you stub your toe while walking on a floor and there is nothing there? Not lately :)

If you lean to your right or left while walking do you almost fall over? Occasionally when I turn quickly I keep going and feel a bit off kilter.

Do you have any other signs of aging I forgot to mention? I'm sure there is but I can't remember one right now. Is that age related? lol!

I would have to toss those eggs :) I love hard boiled eggs just to eat on their own and often prepare a couple for lunch.

My skin is paper thin and has been this way for many years because of my steroids. There were 18 years when I took a steroid everyday and of course when I get a lung infection I always have to take it. My inhaler also has a steroid but it's the pill that does the most damage. So now add on old age and it doesn't take much to get bruises or tear my skin open.
