Wal-Mart Friendships

This is Colby, he is 8 years old and is a Soft Coat  Wheaton Terrier from Scotland. His owner chooses to let him look like a sweet bear. Show dogs are trimmed differently and look like Terriers.  I had no idea a dog like this one could look like this. I prefer the poodle/bear look myself.
phot from internet

The owner said they sheer them and use the wool to make soft shirts, just like they do a sheep...

I fell instantly in love with his eyes and his gentle and friendly disposition. I spent maybe 10 minutes talking to him and his owner and getting lots of loving.

Does your Walmart allow dogs in the store? I have seen several recently and am not sure I like the idea.
Do you pet stranger dogs? Do you talk to WM employees while shopping? Do you stop and chat for 20 minutes when you meet someone from the past?  I do ALL OF THE ABOVE.

As I walked away from Colby I heard some one shout Sandy, and I turned and said to the woman, you look vaguely familiar... After 60 seconds of embarrassment, it hit me who she was. I had not seen her for 11 years and that was about 10 seconds at a funeral.   The thing is, we are the same age, and after I got home I started to wonder if I have changed as much as she has since we last met.

Yes, I make friendships with people who work in stores. I will get worried if I don't see one in awhile, and ask someone how they are. I know a lot of their names. What a cute dog! I don't know if our W.M. allows dogs, Phil said they only allow service dogs. But people will sneak in little dogs in their purse.

What a beautiful dog! Our Walmart will allow service dogs only. I'm a chatty, friendly person and will engage in conversation with people in line or people that I know. It' takes me longer to get out of the store but what is time anyway right?

Oh yes, I'll talk to anybody - even thin air... The Wheaten Terrier is a mighty fine dog and Colby looks to be a top specimen! Only service dogs at our stores also. YAM xx

Aww, Colby looks like a sweetheart. I knew people who had a Wheaton and they had him groomed the traditional way. I think this one is cuter.
I've seen a couple dogs in Walmart but I don't really know that they are allowed to be there. I honestly don't see the point in taking your dog shopping with you unless it's a service dog.
I rarely talk to anyone in the stores unless I run into someone that I know and then it's just a brief hi, how ya doing.

Hello,

I do love to pet all the dogs. Colby is cute, I love the bear look. I have never seen a dog in our local Walmart. Enjoy your day!

Colby is gorgeous. I have never seen a Wheaton not groomed. I watch a lot of dog shows. They are always like the photo from the internet.
I bet his furs are very soft and Oh those eyes.

Last week at the grocery store I remembered I had forgotten lettuce.
So Bryan stayed with the cart. When I got to the lettuce a man said Hi
Cecilia. I turned to see who had spoken. He had on a wide brim had and a mask
down over his chin while speaking. I said hi, good to see you. It has been a while. I ALWAYS try to use peoples names when I see them.I DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM AND NOR HIS WIFE.
So I'm guessing he was someone I might have known at work. Obviously he did not look like I remembered. Later Bryan saw them didn't know them either. This is the 2nd time some one has spoken to me I didn't know.
Now when I see someone from my past I always says Hi blah blah, I'm Cecilia I knew you at Blah blah. I will pet dogs, I don't know after speaking to the owner for a few minutes so the dog recognizes me an Ok person.
Hugs Cecilia

Colby is too cute!!! I definitely prefer the 'teddy bear' look v. those poor show dogs … who probably aren't even allowed to ever go kick up their heels and roll in the mud.
No, our WM has signage on their doors: No pets except 'assist animals.'
99% of the associates are super friendly and I always try to make it a point to use their names when I say, Thanks.' I've not been here long enough to know that many people, but yes. I enjoy saying 'good morning' to elderly shoppers. They're far friendlier than young people.

I talk to people everywhere I go...but don't pet dogs! lol We hiked this morning and 4 different people stopped to say a little something...2 walkers and the others on bikes. Enjoy your day! Hugs!

Our WM only allows service animals...I don't think a store is the place for animals.
I try to be friendly and make small talk while in line and always talk to the checker.
My Hubby is the #1 engager of anyone he meets.
His mantra is "Everybody Matters".
We have had some wonderful experiences because of his chatting with strangers.

Like you Sandra I think the doggy has such lovely eyes. If he were mine I think I would shear some of the fur off.

That's interesting about the lady you hadn't seen in a long time. If I see a photo of someone and there has been a lot of years since the last one, I find myself a bit shocked at the difference in age, and then I remember that applies to me too, lol! I doubt people would recognize me now. Loved the little dog, so cute.

Does your Walmart allow dogs in the store: I have never seen a dog in the store in all the years I have been going to Walmart, so I would say the answer is no, except for service animals but I haven't seen any of those either in that store.

Do you pet stranger dogs? I do if the owner is there and they say it is okay. Never sure until I get close if I will make the dog nervous or not. Even when they tell me it's okay, I still approach with my hand extended slowly, and usually palm down so that they can smell the back of my hand, and then we have a great time chatting with each other :) I read somewhere years ago that's the way to do it but can't remember if that is proper or not, so wouldn't recommend to anyone. I guess each little dog is different.

Do you talk to WM employees while shopping? We always go when the store is overcrowded but I would chat if I had the opportunity.

Do you stop and chat for 20 minutes when you meet someone from the past? I usually do but it's been a while since I bumped into anyone I know.

Sorry for the ramble today :) I enjoyed all your questions

The grocery store (neighborhood) knows me by name. And ALL the employees are friendly. Most young men ...strangers...are gentlemenly which I admire very much. I usually don't pet dogs...but I will comment to their owners.

But, mostly, I feel a real Southern Charm here in Texas!!

I have never seen pets in any of the Walmarts I have been in over the years. I prefer that sweet baby uncut, too. He's a keeper.
I often run into someone I know in the store an we will talk for several minutes. I have also embarrassed myself by not recognizing someone from the past that has changed so much I didn't know them. lol xo Diana

Yes, to all of the above...we have a small town walmart and let me tell you they are the best. Always talk and chat with the workers, whether cashier or someone else. I see a dog inside once in a blue moon. Like you, not sure how I feel about a dog being in, but I more don't mind than I do.

Our WalMart only allows service dogs in, however I think I am going to buy Disco a service jacket over the internet. LOL

I think I like the bear look.

I have also not recognized old friends - you are not a lone.

Sandra, while I don't go the area Walmart enough to know whether or not pets are allowed, it most likely does allow them. I've seen pets in many other local stores. Enjoy your time off from electronics and blogging. A break is a (very) good thing and one I am considering for next month.

I do talk to people in the stores but I am not a Walmart shopper. We have a 50 year reunion coming up which Mark refuses to go to. He said who wants to see all those old people!! I don't how I can go alone, I'll just be embarrassed that he isn't with me since we were in the same class.
