The Purple Tree And the Blue house

This gorgeous purple tree is about 1/2 mile from our home, we have walked past it every day for 10 months, since Oct 1st last year.  We have never seen it without blooms. I have no idea what it is and it is the only one we have seen. Nature Friday, City life style

UPDATE: from Anni and Yamini, in comments below. The tree is Lasiandra Grandiflora or Glory tree.
Both names fit... it is indeed a Glorious tree

This home is beautiful, as is the yard. The washed out effect of the yard and sky was caused by 6:45 am time, the sun was not up over the trees. it is even more stunning in bright sunshine. The color of the blue is about 10 shades lighter than it looks in these photos.

This is the house from 2012 on Google Earth. The owners bought the house  in 2015 when it looked like this, paint and landscaping and a totally different look. They are really nice people and have a beautiful Big Cat. no photos of the cat.

What a HUGE difference in the house, and especially the yard! They did GOOD. This tree, I have never seen such a tree. It is like out of a fairy tale or something. Like something that doesn't really exist. Maybe they can tell you what it is.

They gave the house the TLC it needed. The tree is gorgeous! Thinking of you and all people in Florida with this hurricane on its way.

Sandra, that tree is VERY common Down Under... it is commonly referred to as Lasiandra Grandiflora, but the botanical name is Tibouchina and there are a number of sub-species. It is magnificent, isn't it! YAM xx

Wow, they sure did a huge makeover on that yard. The tree in the first picture is really pretty.

Yes...in america it's called a glory tree but yamini has the scientific name above. My dad said they were invasive (but I think he was thinking of having to clean up all the continual fallen blossoms). Very tropical planting zones.

It's amazing how trees and shrubs grow so quickly where you live. The tree with the masses of flowers is pretty. The house and gardens look very different and colourful from before. It's nice when people put their own stamp on a place and make their home look attractive. That place has personality.

THAT is a glorious tree!! And a beautiful shade of purple.
The new owners had a vision in their Mind's Eye for Sure!! It was a neat little bungalow turned in to a work of art and beauty.
Very tropical...
Sending you and all your beautiful State lots of prayers and thoughts

So beautiful!
… but what caught my eye is the pretty driveway. Are my eyes deceiving me, or are those decorative bricks?

Wow, that home is beautiful now, and I agree, that is one Glorious tree.
God is such a Master Designer.
Our lawn guys just came and did such a great job on your front and backyard.
Bushes got trimmed and "spiffed" up.
The temps have dropped somewhat and the AC isn't cranking on for hours on end.
Have a great weekend.

Yikes, I should reread my posts before hitting the post button.
The lawn guys sure DIDN'T do a job on YOUR yard!! haha,
I forgot to say also that we are praying for all of you in Florida...for your safety and things staying where they belong.
Love you
Sue

That is a beautiful tree and one I’ve never seen or heard if so perhaps it is native to FL or warmer states? I’ve seen some of the Dorian hurricane reports today and hope you will all be safe from harm or damage.

What a wonderful tree and blooms. Thanks for sharing your morning walk in your neighborhood and on Google. And thanks for putting the tree identification in the body of your post. All-round good job!

They did a beautiful job landscaping. It's amazing that the tree has had those blossoms for so long.
