These houses are GORGEOUS!!! They are the stuff of wonderful fairy tales. I don't know why someone would build a house that does not fit in!! Since it is still under construction, maybe they will paint it and fix it up nicely. But it would be a miracle if they could make it as nice as the others, but stranger things have happened. LOVE the cat!!!
Hari OM Well, clearly it is made from boxes; what else would explain it looking like one??!!! Definitely, a plain-jane, though as Ginny says it could yet become a swan. Keep your eye/lens on it for us Snapper-ji!!! YAM xx (who is back in the land of the fast running ethers)
All very interesting houses. As you probably know from my blog posts the styles of houses in our county are very different as they're usually made of brick or local stone. In different counties of the UK most buildings are constructed with local stone so that they can be honey yellow, beige or even red/brown sandstone. There are wooden chalets and bungalows by the seaside that are often painted in bright colours. Front gardens plots are the places to show creativity with different trees and flowers.
I wonder why the first house has so few windows on the first floor and such small out of proportion windows on the side of the second floor. I imagine it would be very dark in there. It seems like it towers over the other houses in the area.
The first house seems out of place. Maybe it would be pretty if it were a different color and once they put the deck rails on. The first house also needs more windows on the bottom level, it must be dark inside.
I like bright colorful houses like the light blue or teal and quirky style or decor. The red door on the last place really pops. Enjoy your day!
WHY on earth?!?!?! Talk about a 'sore thumb'! The only redeeming feature I can imagine would be if they painted a colorful mural across the side and lots of hanging floral baskets in the front. Keep us posted, won't you?
That newly constructed house is similar to the three-story humongous residences that are proliferating in our small town. Many are in a new development and many others are in the older part of town where the earlier cottages of fishermen and other old-time residents were demolished to make way for the boxy new builds. Sigh! I love the cottages that have been purchased and restored. They sparkle with individuality while keeping the charm of our town's beginnings. Another interesting post, Sandra!
Thanks for the drive by house photos Sandra. Yes, I did like the house in the header photo when it still had the purple color (my favorite). The crayon house looks like it needs some brightening up. And, that cat has the right idea on how to relax.
What an interesting art district. I would love to take a walk around it. The cat looks like he had a tough night and didn't quite make it to the door before crashing. Great shots!

Those are really interesting houses. I love the place with the red door.
I love your wooden houses. Most of ours are brick.

It is rather plain in comparison to the other houses. The covered porches are about all it's got going for it. To each their own I guess
Doesn't fit in really. Hope its painted to look better.
Hello

The first one is definitely out of style with the area.
Does the Village Arts have any building style laws?

You'd think there's a building code for the neighborhood. Maybe the plans/blueprints will be more than expected when it's completed.
I would love a tour of each and every one...
Interesting homes to say the least. One thing sure, they are not th traditional dull colors that I see around here.
Maybe the new house just hasn't had time to get quirky yet... ;) Probably needs a few years of getting properly LIVED in!

Hoping they add some flair to the plain looking new house...I really like how colorful the rest of the neighborhood is!
Such pretty homes! Maybe they will paint up that new construction! It looks totally out of place among the homes with such colorful personalities!

I vote and love the colorful houses. The one that is so ugly - maybe they will paint!

Cute houses, except for the big cardboard box one. The cat seems pretty content!
The homes are all very reto hippie looking in many ways. Of course not that plain one at the top!
