Our dead Grapefruit tree continues to fascinate me.. Against gray skies or blue, I love it. Joining LLB in our Backyard for Nature Friday. We had 20 plus years of Ruby Red Graperuit.
If you want to see what we used to eat from this tree, click here
That tree served you well. I guessed that it was probably one that Bob had planted from a tree and so checked out the other post to see if it confirmed that.
I, too, have a real fascination with wintery trees. LOVE that close up. We've one in the front yard that Tom's always referred to as the 'witches' tree.
Wow. The photos of those ruby red grapefruit have my taste buds spitting big time. Since Tom loves grapefruit like me, but isn't allowed to have it -- I've not had any in ages and ages. Good to know about the cold/flu remedy, tho!
Dave and I would call your "dead" tree Poetic. I love its gnarled branches. Wish we could eat grapefruit. I love them so but our meds won't allow them. Boo.... Hope your day is going well. Going to do our weekly gig at Celebrate Recovery tonight. Energy level isn't so hot today. Gotta loose that 3 pounds over my limit...ugh...this time of year is brutal.

Shame that it died. I didn't know they grew so big. I checked out what you got from the tree , fantastic.

Too bad it bit the dust. I do love the sunlight on the cut fruit in your other post.
When a plant dies or in this case a tree to which you are attached ... it is such a shame to chop it and throw it away ... although it is dangerous!
An old friend. I like the composure of the photo with the palm tree in the background.

Architectural 'bones' are always great photo-themes... love the last shot!!! YAM xx
I sure would miss that fruit, if I had been used to having it, but the dead tree is a beauty.
WEll thank you I have never EVER seen a grapefruit tree.
It is huge. Heading over to check your link

What a wonderful old tree, and beautiful. You caught its spirit.
It is even beautiful dead. Is 20 years the lifespan of the tree?
Still working on the photo - I had it working - now I am having trouble - but I haven't forgotten.
Like Diane B I didn't know they grew so big. Love those grapefruit. Glad it still gives you pleasure. May you and Bob have a blessed Christmas.
There is a lot of beauty in those bare old trunks.
Do you know why it died? Do they only have a certain life span? We have a lemon tree full of fruit right now. They are not ripe yet.
