Barefoot Contessa?

Hubby and I both go barefoot because we hate shoes. I watched him trim fronds in his barefeet and had to document my toes and a frond. Just Because

Since I was a toddler,  I have worn  shoes only if I left home. In GA and KY I did have houseslippers, but not here in Florida. On the rare cold day occasion, I wear socks in the house, but still wear sandals only when I leave home.

My dad never walked barefoot anywhere but in the shower or tub or river...he spent  a lot of time picking thorns and splinters our of my feet, while I howled in pain and could never understand why I continued to do it. Now Bob has the task! I still howl.

My Investigoogle skills found pages and pages of the health benefits of walking barefoot.

1. Better Vision
2. Keeps feet healthy and strong
3. Reduces Stress
4. Improves Immunity
5. Improves Posture and Balance

Because of needing glasses to SEE, I investigoogled Better Vison Barefoot and found this.

walking barefoot on the grass can do miraculous changes and makes the eyesight better and sharp. So if you also want to improve your eyesight and get rid of those irritating glasses then start walking barefoot on the grass from next morning or evening.
The question I have is, since I have been walking barefoot for 75 years, why am I waiting on NEW glasses???   How do you feel about barefeet?

I used to love going barefoot, then had something with my right foot at about age 45...I could no longer go barefoot. Coukd not even enjoy flip flops...now since I broke my leg that year, the one problem went away, and my best footwear is flip flops, but ferlscawkward to walk barefoot. It is really odd...for the longest time, i could hardly walk without flip flops...mow i can, but feels better with them on. Shoes wear me out...

I've mostly preferred to go barefoot but a couple years ago when I was having a problem with plantar fasciitus and read that you should avoid going barefoot so now I always wear something even if it's slippers

Hello,

I could never put a photo of my ugly toes on the internet, lol.
I wear slippers in the house and shoes outside. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week!

I loved bare feet - when I was in OZ. Here in the UK it's not so 'hot'! I have slippers for indoors and shoes and boots for outdoors... these days I also have a lot of trouble with arthritis in the feet, so barefoot is not really an option. YAM xx

BOL BOL Barefoot contessa you do have 'pretty feet' Me not so much. LOL
Well I have had way too many bad experiences when barefoot.
Stepped on a very rusty nail. I cannot tell you how bad that hurt. I was spending the night with my cousin, about 30 miles from home. My aunt made me soak it in Epsom salt and doctored it but I spiked a fever over night. I had to be rushed to doc. Got tetanus shot which hurt more than the nail. And I stepped on a lot of bees who were not happy.
I NEVER go w/o shoes except when I get up to potty in the middle of the night.
Hugs C ecilia

I LOVE this! Don't get me started! First, I really want to know how walking barefoot helps your vision! I just cannot figure that one out. I did know about a lot of other benefits. Growing up up north, we did not do this. And here is the thing. Whenever I do go barefoot (only for a minute, and out of necessity) I always run a hair in my foot. Yes, a HAIR!! It hurts like to dickens, and is hard to find. And we have a LOT of cat hairs here. Needless to say, I run all kinds of other things into my feet as well. I think once your feet get toughened up from walking barefoot, this isn't as much of a problem. But mine are so tender.

Cute toes! :)
I'd go barefoot 24/7 if I thought I wouldn't accidentally step on a furbaby's deposit, a creepy-crawly … or worse.
That's so interesting about the health benefits, especially the eyesight. Guessing that's all tied into the science of reflexology? I once had a boss whose wife studied to become a reflexologist. She only worked on me once, but it felt heavenly.

Boy, I will never show my feet on the internet. I have the most UGLY feet you have ever seen.
Big bunions and weird little toenails...
I do like to go bare foot but don't do it very often now. I have to put gel spacers between my big toe and next toe. Hard to keep on comfortably without shoes or sox on.
I do most of the time just have my sox on in the house...
I love your last question about going shoeless for 75 years and still needing glasses...
That's funny to me.
Hope your day is going well...
Woke up to 37F. this morning...the weather guy said it feels like 33F.
Yup, I'm keeping my shoes and socks on today!

Because of my type 1 diabetes, I can't walk barefoot, as my feet are always in jeopardy. And it is the one thing I miss the most from before I got ill. I was like you as a child and up through the years, always barefoot in the summer. You are so right, it's the best thing ever. I dream about walking barefoot on dewy green grass. Fortunately, we don't have dewy green grass here.

Since I don't go to pools or the beach, don't like water that much, the only time you will find me without shoes on my feet is at night or in the shower.Well, ok, I do take my shoes off when I visit someone’s home, but only because I have to.

I have to say I am shocked - I would never have believed it about the eye site if you hadn't told me - I believe you!

You have lovely straight feet. I have big bunions forcing my big toe inwards. People say its because of shoes I wore but I went barefoot from when I landed in Australia. We wore shoes to school but kicked them off as soon as we got home. I rarely wore high heels too uncomfortable. I wore flip flops, sandals and sneakers when I wasn't bare foot. However a few years ago I was bare foot in the house when I kept feeling a lump under the ball of my foot. I thought i had stepped onto a raisin but every time I looked there was nothing there. Eventually I went to the doctor and he sent me to a podiatrist who said I had fallen arches across my foot not length ways. No more barefoot walking, sneakers with inserts. However, I enjoyed walking barefoot on the sand on the weekend. It didn't hurt and felt soooo good.

In the summer months I tend to go barefoot in the house but not outside because the ground is rocky and even the grass has hidden dangers, like wasp nests :) In the winter I wear slippers inside and regular shoes outside.

Always going barefoot in the house, but not so much outdoors when sandals are worn in warmer months.

I love being barefoot. In the winter I sometimes wear socks because our tile floor is cold. Adam and Gabby were told not to put shoes on James until he started walking. He takes them off, doesn't like them. He is always barefoot!
