Wordy Wed - UPDATES!!!

My phone rang, I could not answer it, Bob was yelling WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT THING?Note: I have the ringer as loud as it will go to be able to hear it.

I was yelling at Bob,  STOP yelling at me, while screaming I AM TRYING TO ANWSER IT and IT WILL NOT LET ME..

there is more, just imagine it ... loudly.

MY PHONE RINGS,  SAME screaming conversation again only 20 minutes later.

@$%^$ Spammers!  I MUTE THE PHONE SO IT CAN"T RING and explain quietly HA HA to Bob the phone worked fine yesterday..  today it will not answer when I tap or swipe.

I have had the phone 6 months, to answer the Cell, I had 2 choices, tap it, or swipe to the right.

NOTHING happens and  it rings 7 times.

I tried to find some where to make it ring 2 times or anything less than 7. I don't want to mute it because I can't hear the text dings or FB dings or Messenger dings.

Dings are important to me

No one calls me on it, but the spammers were driving me crazy.

I said Hey Google, I can't answer my Samsung a10e phone.

I weed my way through tons of questions like mine and pick the one close to what is happening.

I  can't read it on phone and follow instructios.

I sit in the rocker with my lap top and the phone and did the google search on laptop because it is MUCH easier to read.

The simple answer after digging around was Samsung changed the way to answer in an update WITH OUT TELLING US! they removed the swipe to the right and the TAP, which is the easiest way to answer.

Now I must answer by swiping UP, only Straight UP, swipe NORTH it says or you may use the UP sound button to answer and tone on button to end.

Heaven help the people on this earth who don't know North from South. My son once asked me for directions, back before cell phones. I said go south on 34th street, until you get to 57th ave and turn East and go South about 30 miles. His answer was is south towards the skyway or away from the skyway.

The phone should say you must swipe NORTH only or swipe away from the skyway

Am I crazy or are they? Couldn't they just send me a text warning me the update will change the way to answer? I mean what if it was govt calling to tell me I am on the list for my Covid 19 shot? I might die before I could answer the phone.

It is not RIGHT that they did this without telling anyone!!! But if anyone could figure it out, I knew your could. And why would they even change it, anyway?

Technology can be so good and then so frustrating. I know how you feel. I just spent ages trying to work out how to remove a photo from new blogger.

Hello,

My phone updated now where it stopped ringing, I need to go to an app and pick out a ring tone. I am not paying extra to have my phone ring. I just wanted to use the default ring, now it's gone. These updates are crazy. I will not answer my phone unless I know who calling, I let unknown numbers go to voice mail. Take care, enjoy your day!

I don't allow automatic updates. Unless, I "ok" it, it doesn't mess with my phone.

You really should get a gig for stand-up comedy tho. You had me rolling.

Oh my, updates with no warning on what is changing. That's kind of crazy especially with something that is that big of a change.. Luckily you were able to find the answer.
I never liked north/south directions. I would rather someone say left/right

Seems this is the way of things now - updates without notice. Ps me off. I don't have a smartphone for this reason. It's bad enough on the android tablet. And I have updates switched off on my laptop. YAM xx

Thanks for telling us. Now I'm wondering if it has changed on my Samsung too. At least I'll know what to do now if I have the same problem. Frustrating!

How frustrating! They really should notify you before...BEFORE they change something that important! My husband is good with these type of things...go NORTH to find him! hahahaha! Hugs!

I can imagine the frustration...glad you figured out what was going on.

I dont know why technology people always think change is needed. I coukdcrant aboutvwebsites that change from being a good site that is easy to navigate to one that takes all day to do the simplest thing.

Those jerks! Now I know why Tom's been experiencing challenges yesterday trying to answer his new Samsung. I don't know many people who, like you, would take the time to investi-Google.

Directions:
Back in the mid 1980's I had to go to Myrtle Beach for a work conference. Marlu and I were driving to MB,SC. This was way before GPS, So Bryan wrote explicit instructions for us to follow. Bryan had a to fly in another direction for work but his return flight was into to Myrtle Beach to join us. Marlu was going to be the navigator. Shortly before departure time for us she was reading the directions. She carefully worded a question (she was not 100% sure of my skills). Daddy how will I know if we are going toward the beach.
He said if you see hills you need to turn around, if you see Spanish Moss all is well.

More power to you Girlfriend for figuring out the Updates..New and improved isn't always that !
Yesterday I ate something that didn't agree with me while working on Ebay ALL...day Long..Felt lousy all day and night. Feel much better this morning and am down 2 pounds..yay for me...hard way to do it but I'm glad anyway.
Still haven't tackled my email problem. At least I can see the emails on Dave's desktop. It's going to be another marathon day of Ebay stuff again. Got to get stuff up on line before Jan.1 so I don't have to pay posting fees. It's making me cross-eyed.
I agree with Hootin' Anni..your "comedy routine" just sets the tone for my day.
Hope your day goes well.

WOW! That is crazy and infuriating too! So was that a change from Google? I thought you could read about what the updates would do but apparently not. Knowing you are so technical though, I knew it would be resolved quickly!...:)jp HAPPY NEW YEAR

Oh my gosh, phones drive me crazy! Its like you can't live with them and you can't live without them. I just got a new phone for Christmas, it's still an iPhone but a newer one so they changed a lot of things that I'm not familiar with. I can totally feel for ya and seriously it seems the spam calls have be more frequent lately. I don't answer any calls that I don't recognize the number or which are not in my contacts. I feel if its important they will leave a message. My phone also recognizes a spam call and it will only ring once.

So for me I keep my phone on silent, I can't stand the dinger notifications but my husband keeps his on, much like you do and with a loud volume. It's whatever during the day but at night when his phone is on the charger and I'm trying to sleep and that darn thing is dinging It literally drives me insane so lately I've been getting up and turning his phone on silent. Well the funny thing is last night when we were all tucked in his phone dings with some notification so I jump out of bed and silence the thing and my husband asked what i did so I told him. Well he was wondering how is phone was always on silent mode when he would take it off the charger. He thought it was timing itself out and doing it on it's own. Haha, I'm sure they are capable of that or at least will be in the future but it was just little ol me turning his off haha

I have updates off so I can read up on them before I select to install them. I use Apple products cause Buddy and I find them easier. We can stop ring by pushing power button.
For spammers there is a free app to download and get rid of calls.

Yes, the modern world keeps us old folks on our toes. I figure they're a good chance to practice my stress-hardiness skills.

Andy and I don't give out our mobile numbers so we never answer if someone calls us on them. For our landline we don't have caller ID but let the answering machine answer unless we hear a familiar voice. The phone rings a lot with robocalls, but we tune them out. Mostly they don't even leave messages.
