Ruminations on Wordy Wed.

I think to myself, Dirty hair? Why wash it, I never go anywhere. then a tiny voice in my head says, but what if you get sick, get the virus, or any disease that requires a visit to the hospital, you are trapped in the hospital for days or weeks with your hair dirty.

As I put on my walk the dog clothing, I think, wear no bra, I don't need one. I am wearing 2 t-shirts, one light sweater and one heavy sweater. No one will notice, and besides, we never see any one.

Little voice says to me... what if you get hit by a car, or stroke or heart attack and the EMT comes and they have to hook you up to the paddles or some other wired thingy.

Then I think, we are going to take Beau for a ride, I can't DRIVE without a bra, what is someone rear ends us and a trip to the ER is required, think snickering docs and nurses finding me braless.

Will they snicker and whisper to each other, this old lady doesn't have on a bra. And maybe they say look, she has on YESTERDAYS underwear...OR heaven help me, NO underwear under the leggins?

Are you picking up what I am putting down?

Not only am I picking this up, I have gone WAY farther than you! I NEVER wear a bra anymore, that is one of the joys of staying home. When I have to go grocery shopping, I put on a bulky coat so no one knows. The feeling is bliss. I can't remember when I washed my hair last. I only wash it when it just looks TOO bad. I can think in the moment, and just do what feels good.

we know that voice too... oooh a lot... it is that voice what says change even da socks before you go out, they will remember you in da hospital as da one with da odd stilt-covers... will they?

No, I really don't pick this up! Really! I will feel really bad with the hair dirty and not dressed properly ... even if I am inside all day! But that's my opinion of course!
Hugs!

I've been commando for decades...the freedom of retirement I say. And I don't care what ER sees or lacks seeing.

I've had those same kinds of thoughts. I'm betting the EMT's and hospital people have seen it all and much worse than anything we could do though

Hello,

I can only assume the ER will have less clothes that they have to cut off and or take off you. I keep up with my hair washing, legs shaved and clean clothes. You never know, lol. Enjoy your day!

Oh my! I get it! Some days I only shower and get dressed for my husband! I think to myself "What does he think of me?" *Sigh*

You know I feel like you - some days I will let myself get away more than others.

I have discovered an elastic 'bra' that just holds things enough to not look like I'll not knock myself out when am moving around but is like wearing a really tight t-shirt, so really comfy... but I confess most of the week on my own, even that doesn't get out the drawer. I have such dry hair I can go two months without it needing washed... YAM xx

I think like this all the time but you couldn't pay me to put on a bra unless I have to go to the store and now that we're having chilly weather I just put on a light jacket instead. As long as nobody can see I don't care. That's probably the only area that I'm really bad about. I pretty much keep up on the rest. Oh and I never put on real clothes when I'm at home. I have daytime jammies, usually comfy PJ pants and oversized t shirts.

Oh Sandra, how I howled while reading this. I can relate on everything except bra-wearing. For some reason, it makes me feel better (physically). After 5 hours sitting in the car yesterday, I may not even bother to change out of my pajamas.

I don't know any EMT's personally, but would love to plant a listening device to see if they're really as empathetic as TV would have us believe. If someone were to pen a 'tell-all' book, I'd stand in line to buy it!

Hahahaha! I have long had a case of Booby-itis! So I have a drawer full of bras! Tight ones, sports ones, loose ones.....and none of them actually feel good! But neither does going braless feel good! Back in my skinny days, I didn’t have enough boobs to matter much. Wish I didn’t now! I think the only ones who like boobs are the guys! I tell Louis Dean - don’t get excited! It’s just fat!

Yes, I think these thoughts....alll the time. But I wear the bra, no matter how bad I hate, too. But I get into pjs way early. And my pjs are jogging pants with pockets. LOL And a tshirt.

I went commando {no bra; no panties} years ago!! Such a relief! I do wash my hair every other day, but only shave every couple of months ~

PS ~ MDs, nurses and Emts don't give a flying flip about what patients are or are not wearing!!

Well, I have to get off the floor now from laughing so hard...
We women...and I do say women.... are such a curious lot.
I do wear a bra every day, all the time. I'm just more comfy with it on. Can't stand dirty hair so it gets done about every 3 days. Thank heavens it's not greasy.
As Bobbie said, the nurses, EMTs don't care about what we have on. Their mission is what's underneath the clothes.
Linda cracked me up with saying boobs are just fat..for sure!
And as Chatty Crone says..some days I let myself go more than others.
Loved your comment on my blog.
Now the truth comes out. The photo was taken at Disneyland in their Boardwalk area. The detail is so wonderful to photograph. It's all false fronts.
Hope your day goes well.

Mark and I go through that conversation almost everyday about showering. I must shower!!! When I do shower it's all about if something happens to me I want them to see how clean a person I am. I'm right there with you 100%....

LOL! Actually today, I am totally "hanging", dirty hair and all because I feel a bit of a sinus thing coming on. Being a baby boomer, I think you should dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable!...:)jp

I'm with Bobbie, emergency workers don't care what you're wearing. Do what makes you feel good.
