When I purchased my Asus All In One computer, I fussed and fussed because the Microsoft office that came in the computer, would be free for a month and then cost 79.99 a year.
No Problem! I will use the one I have owned since 2010, it came on CD..
I bought the dongle, AKA external DVD player, and when I tried to install my old 2010 Microsoft office it said
NOPE! No Can Do. To OLD. Not compatible.
While on Microsoft.com trying to figure out what was what, I saw a NOTE that said if you don't want to purchase Office, try our
Neat Office App... YAY! it's free.
It's not Office but I don't care.
I clicked download and it said Dumbo, did you read the part that says it is already installed in your ASUS?

It,s so annoying when these things go out of date. My iPad is working fine even though it is 4/years old, but wouldn’t let me download new apps and YouTube would no longer work.
I have been forced to buy a new one.
Mind you, I,m loving my new one, it,s bigger than my old one and fab,

I think mine is 2013. It still works. I only use WORD. But if for some reason it stops, I know where to get it, thanks to you.
Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried it out yet but just downloaded it. I've been using Apache Open Office (.odt) for new documents for many years now. But it does not open old Word files. Next time one of those pops up, I can try out the Neat app (if I remember I have it!!!)

When it first became available, I used LibreOffice. When I bought Voovoo the Vaio in India, she came with Word2010 on board, so I never bothered with LO again till now. If I ever had to move along in software I would return to LO as my first choice. "Neat Office" is an illegal copy of earlier software from the open/Libre office sourceware and doesn't have the full extension s/w that LO has. So what I'm saying is, stick with the original and official. The problem with the 'app store' is that it is as prone to trolls and spamware as individual sites are. This old-school programmer still loves discrete and controllable items of software!!! YAM xx

I wonder if that's the same thing that keeps popping up on my screen to download. I never used office because I'm cheap and don't want to pay. I use Microsoft word starter a lot though

I am so sorry I yielded to impulse and bought a Fire HD 8, aka a Kindle. It turns out I prefer handling real books.
