Crane Fly and the Band-aid

The Crane Fly and the Band-aid

I found this guy, the size of a quarter, in my bathroom sink.
I turned to grab the fly swatter and stepped out the door, just as Bob Stepped in the door Shouting, LOOK IN MY EAR, see if you can see this thing. (thing being tip of hearing aid)
He startled me, I jumped and screamed and FLUNG MY arm out, hitting the door frame
and ripping a piece of dry old person skin back requring
a Band-Aid to stop the bleeding and also generating a
few Words. Use your imagination

A Just Because I loved the shadow and the car photo while walking
it is a Saturn Skye and at one time was coveted by my husband and I when we bought our Saturn Vue.

That shadow is beautiful. I hope your arm is alright. I have never heard of a Crane Fly!! Does it fly? Looks a bit like a Grandaddy Longlegs to me.

Beautiful shadow and sorry about your arm. Andy and I are always seeing cuts and bruises. Our explanation is always, we must have brushed against a leaf.

hugs to you and all the best for your arm... we love the car, but we have no clue if our ole staff can still get in and out of such a sporty ride LOL

Karma - the fly would have done a lot less harm on its own. We do love your photo and light/shadow play; well spotted. Hope the band-aided injury heals quickly. xxx Mr T

Ouch on hitting the door frame.
Nice looking car but I can only imagine how hard it is to get out of it. Those low sitting cars don't like me :)

Hello,
I tend to be accident prone, I cut even cut my finger with the scissors.
The car is cute and I love the shadows. I hope you caught that crane fly.
Take care, have a happy day!

I get quite a lot of crane flies in the Hutch - and other bugs. It's just that sort of old place. I don't mind 'em.

I do mind banging myself up though and have full sympathy for the sore bit.

Love that last shot and quite understand the appeal of the car - though I too might struggle to mount it these days!!! YAM xx

I have never heard of a crane fly...must Google. But most importantly you have a swatter within arm's reach. I store ours in the garage.

...Wikipedia: not much other than they resemble mosquitoes & don't bite. Interesting.

Ouch! Sorry about that. You know I always enjoy your photos :)

What an unpleasant surprise, spotting that 'thing' in your sink! No wonder you were startled into banging your arm ... stupid old door frame.

I could seriously covet that car, too. Surprised to read it's a Saturn; here, I was thinking something foreign and expensive.

Being startled by the 2 B's was sure to give you a jumpstart.
I'm sorry you got the bad ouchie. I absolutely adored the CrossFire (I think that was the name) sporty car by Ford many years ago.
This Vue is quite an eye catcher too

We call them "Skeeter Eaters" and shoo them out. They go bump-bump-bump along the ceiling and walls. Not efficient flyers. I know about the skin. I asked a doctor, "WHY is my skin getting like tissue paper?" and the goofball said, "Because you're old." Well, thanks for that! What a pretty car!

Sorry to hear about your hurt arm. What happened to Bob's hearing aid? Not keen on creepy crawlies, love the car pic.

I hope your arm is alright too. I have never heard of a Crane Fly - it looked HUGE!

That is a nice car and I like the shadow too. I hope your arm is ok. My skin rips or gets those deep old person bruises if I just barely touch something.

That fly looks like a skeeter bug or daddy long legs..what ever it is it sure started the crazy Sandra domino effect at your house.
I hope you found Bob's hearing aid thingy.
So sorry about your arm injury. Old people skin is for the birds.
I have been doing so good without the big blotches on my arms for ages. Day before yesterday I was trying to attach something back in the right spot in our freezer (which is on the bottom). Couldn't reach it right and totally scraped up my arm...now it will take weeks to disappear. I look like I have been in a brawl. Ugh!!

So sorry about your arm - I'm not looking forward to the (thin skin) phase of life. - Neat looking shadow. Don't hurt the bug, they kill mosquitos .

Out here in the west we call them mosquito flies ~
I hope your arm gets better soon!

Looks like a pretty sweet car, but not one I would want. I drive too many miles on less than perfect gravel roads to get the pictures I want.

We hope your boo boo is better soon and we also hope Bob gave it a big kiss to make it all better:)

And the insect got to fly away uninjured, but the swatter was not so lucky, sadly. I would have preferred that car as well and now they are not even available, so that one looks really good!

We call them mayflies here - hope your bandaid saves the day - love the shadow reflection.

Tried to post a brilliant comment worthy of a post that would have had me rolling on the floor with uncontrollable and inelegant laughter accompanied by tears. Fortunately, I am in a public space and was able --barely--to restrain myself. I am sorry. But it is your fault for capturing the moment in priceless prose, and also solving the riddle of what is that big mosquito wannabe insect! Alas, Captcha decided I was a robot and jammed up.

That's a sharp looking car. I like the shot you took. Oh yes that dry old person skin. Honestly I am thinking of wearing long sleeves! I have old skin and thin steroid skin on top of it. I tried to get my dad to wear long sleeves but he wouldn't. Both his arms were black and blue from shoulder to hands. He torn skin all the time.
