Itty Bitty Chromebook

I missed you guys yesterday. I took the day off because of this.
My laptop and Samsung Tablet chose to bite the dust at the same time, I bought them at the same time, 6 years ago. As they staggered along I looked at Chromebooks, that were a combo of laptop and tablet, either or.... I had the above Acer Spin 311 in my Amazon Wish list for a month.
The morning of June 21, email came with FLASH SALE, only for 48 hours.
Hi Sandra LOOK AT THIS... you can see the DEAL it was
and NOW

It lives with me and I love it! I sat it in front of the Asus to show how small it is
11.6 inches wide 294.64 mm tiny and powerful and FAST...

Above is as laptop, below shows the icons like on a tablet.
Best of both worlds.

I was off yesterday, reading the 32 page manual and learning my way around it. It was 5 minute set up, but I always want to KNOW what it does.
I spent 1 hour removing the hard drive from my Asus Laptop.
see below and use your imagination... I had to look up a hard drive image to figure out what to remove.
this is the mess I made.
I removed 23 screws, TINY screws needing a Tiny screw driver and
PATIENCE.. HA
I was shocked, I say I WAS SHOCKED to see all this STUFF inside

Imagine being the person who put that laptop together in the first place....

Well done with the tiny screws and taking that apart. I wish I knew more about the workings of these things but I'm too lazy to be bothered.

Hooray for new techie toys. I would never make it through that manual. I learn things better by just trying them out. The manual would have had me totally baffled.
Good job taking that laptop apart. I have two that are pretty much worthless.

Well done!!! Yes, I am a manual reader - part of the cost of these things is all the background work that goes into the finished product and that includes all the written stuff, so get the money's worth I say. I am also a fan of Asus, so double kudos today. YAM xx

Manuals (what I call "idiot sheets") never speak the same language that I do.

Hello Sandra,
I hope you love your new Chromebook, it looks great.
The price is good, I bought a few things on Prime Day too.
I got the small Kindle Paperwhite.
Take care, enjoy your day!

I was just talking about you last night with (Pastor Janet's hubby) Andy. Like you, he loves computers and gadgets -- and was probably amused when I confessed we were sort of overwhelmed by the new Chromebook. Gave him fair warning -- every time he comes to ask for one of Tom's tools, he owes us a tutorial. (Have I told you, I HATE reading instruction manuals?)

PS - First thing out of the box and Tom's like, "Wow, this is heavy!"

What a fun new toy! You always amaze me with the things you can figure out how to do. I don't have that kind of patience. Have fun with it. :)

Congratulations on the new tech-y stuff. A few days ago, you mentioned writing down everything you ate in order to achieve your weight-loss goals. Finally a light-bulb went off in my head. I decided today to do the same thing, only I'm working on a modest weight gain. If I don't gain some weight, my doctor may take me off my main med, which is supposed to halt the progressive scarring of my lungs. I know I'm not getting as many calories as I need to gain a little weight, but I have only a vague idea of how many I actually consume.

Well, Kudos to you on your new "toy". Sorry about everything dying at the same time but look what it got you...and at a bargain price too.
I love Hootin Anni's remark...yeah, that's me too.
I wondered what happened to you yesterday..now I know.
Almost time for my Friday time with Lynne...at least it's not so hot today. We may be able to sit outside in the shade for a while..that always helps make the time go faster.

I'm so happy you are loving it. You are pretty amazing. I am pretty good with electronics but I would have never done that with a computer taking it apart. Way to go!

My laptop from 2010 is still around but I got a new MacBook Pro as I needed a laptop to work with my iPhone and Opas in sync so I can get all the-disability for vision to work . Now I just need motivation. I am in a bit of a down slump as it happens. Hubby is acting up again as is predictable with dementia. It has been hard on Buddy too. Soon Covid will be over. We had our two Pfizer jabs so soon we can get out more. He keeps close watch on the news about it. Cheers when he hears about a down trend.
