Swallow Video Test part 1

My visit to the GI Specialist, resulted in the ordering of a Video Swallow Test
The appt was set for the 29th of Oct.
today is the first of 2 parts story
I arrived per email instructions at the front door at the hospital wearing the above mask!
The email stated, arrive 30 minutes early, bring a mask and of course all paperwork.
the first thing the volunteer said, was
please remove your mask and put on one of these GREEN ones. No one is allowed in the hospital with the mask they are wearing. All employees and visitors must have on the same green mask.that way we know it is a clean one never been outside the building.

She then pointed to the double doors and said there are red arrows that will direct you to out paient services. the hospital is ginormous, I was at the front, the unit was at the back and I entertained my self while walking for 5 minutes, thinking, what if I could not walk this far,
what if I get lost, no one in sight, who would I ask.
Arriving at the door that said Out Patients
I stepped in, and went to the window on he far side of the room, right there by the coffee machines you can see in the photo, the one that we used the last 3 times I brought bob for  tests.

She pointed to the door I entered through,  at a TABLE with a man behind it that said register here.
I wandered back through a dozen people waiting hoping they did not notice I totaly missed the sign and the man and hoping at least one of them had also missed it.
HOW I missed this 250 pound man and a table full of stacked Ipad's, I do not know.
He smiled and said have a seat, I will come to you when  I am ready. REALLY? I am ready NOW
What do you think I did next?

You guessed it. Out came the cell phone to take the view, then I switched to selfie to see what he GREEN mask EVERYONE MUST wear looked like
and realized I could see the world outside in my selfie, so kindly added this

For you viewing pleasure.
Sorry, my head was to big to show the whole head AND the view.

See those parking spots? they were right outside the door. My car was resting in its spot about 1/2 mile  away at the FRONT of the hospital... Just as I was thinking, I knew those were there from past visits, so why did they tell me to come in the front door, a woman huffed and puffed in the door after the WALK and stopped at the desk that she noticed, the one I did not.
He must have removed his invisibly cloak
She said  "why did my instructions say park in front and come in the front door?
I could have parked OUT THERE.

I breathed thank you puffing Lady and waited to hear the answer, glad that I did not have to ask it.
He said, there is only room for about 10 cars because they have them all closed because of constrution.
NOTE! this hospital is like our roads, always under construction.
I wanted to raise my hand and say, you could have put in the email, due to construction the back parking lot is now closed except for wheel chair patients only.
About that time a Lady sitting with a man said loudly, I parked out there, do I have to move my car?
YES, he said...................TO BE CONTINUED

Bureaucratic nonsense and inefficiency is especially irritating when you are sick or having medical procedures!

Hospitals are the same EVERYWHERE! However, here we definitely can't park at the front door - ambulances only. Drop-off yes, park, no. Now I need to know the next part... YAM xx

We should nickname you Scheherazade - keeping us hanging for the next episode...
At least our reject room was clean and smart. We would even have accepted the lack of extras but the noise was drilling into our brains. Great place for people who go clubbing all night and sleep all day. It was super quiet during the day.

we wonder how da parking story ends... and we wonder how complicated it will become nxt week, or next month?

Oh my, what a day, can't wait to hear the other part of the story. My question is, did you have to leave the mask you wore in at the door or did you take it with you? Because if they don't allow masks from outside the hospital what difference does it make if it's on your face or in your pocket?

Hello,
It sounds like an ordeal just to get to the sign in desk. The hospitals here have so many different parking lots and buildings, it is easy to get lost.
I can understand why they want everyone to wear a clean mask inside. Take care, enjoy your day!

None of this surprises me...the mentality and bureaucracy of our country makes me say, we are all doomed!!!
Waiting with bated breath for continuation....

What a fun time walking so far...here you cannot go any direction without the is road construction.

Same here with masks when entering any medical facility.
You have to put on a fresh one they have.
As for the parking dang...looks like they would clearly mark areas. I hope the test went ok.
Heading over to 4 paws

Tom had to do the same thing (mask-wise) the last time we saw his eye doc. Spring rules -- they spring 'em on you whenever the mood strikes.

That parking/no parking situation stinks. Sounds like they're doing what pleases THEM, not the other way around. Whatcha gonna do? I'm looking forward to hearing the REST of the story!

That makes me MAD! The same thing here - a handicap spot is a mile away! Can't wait for part 2.

Hello Sandra,:=)
Your comments made me aware that it's the same here in Portugal. The Cancer hospital where we both went for treatment is the same. It'a huge hospital with several floors and departments. We always had trouble parking the car as most of the the enormous car park was full, so we usually drove around hoping that someone would leave their parking space. This accomplished, we went in at the front door as instructed. Then the long walk began down lengthy corridors, twisting and turning, then down an escalator to the department where we had to wait, to go to another part of the hospital. Looking out the window, we saw several cars parked outside, but still lots of room for more. We could have park there in the first place! There was even a machine where we could log in.Why couldn't we have been informed!
When you're in pain it's so annoying to say the least. I don't understand why the lady had to move her car! I have never heard of a video swallowing test, hope all is well. Sorry for the long comment.

WHAT! They should not make a sick person move their car! If they didn't want anyone parking in that space, they should have put a SIGN there!! Clearly they are short staffed and there is noone to think of or accomplish the details of running the place!

P.S. I bet if she wouldn't have asked, she could have stayed there and all would have been well. After all, what could have gone wrong...

I like the fact that everyone has a new clean mask to wear. That is unbelievable about the parking. I'm not sure I could have done the walk! We are always, always under construction here in CA. Drives me crazy and they take forever.

I am finding that now that I am older, I have no patience for stuff like this. Inefficiency and disorganization, let alone incorrect instructions annoy me to no end, Sandra!!...jp
