first try |
The tree came with no lights, just a few pinecones on it and was beautiful just like that.
I had a rope of pinecones and berries and set up the above. It took to hours to create this mess because of cleaning glass and mirrors and digging in 4 boxes of Christmas that I never use.
I backed off and took a photo and just did not like it.
I can't stand clutter. I like clean and clear spaces.
the next morning, I spent an hour untangling the fairy lights from the rope and placing them up high behind all the glass.
2nd try |
I loved lack of clutter above, on the way to bed, I thought, I can't stand the lights up there on the shelves, I did not take a photo because I knew at daybreak it was ALL COMING DOWN
All this over a small 7 x 5 foot NOOK in a wall. It's been there for 32 years.
5 Am the 3rd day of trying to decorate a small nook, Bob watched in amazment as I removed everything in the nook and started over.
I don't love it, but I can live with it and at end of year, those fairy lights are DONE and Gone.

It looks pretty to me! I wait to see what's NEXT! Maybe you took the candles back? I love those battery run candles, the wicks flicker and they look so real. Plus you can't burn the house down.
I'm thinking now you want real FIRE.
Yeah, it's hard to mix the LED lights and some of those are warm and some are cool and they do not play well with each other!
I like it very much! and we agree for the candles, ours are yellow too... and one is broken, so the light looks odd but makes great shadows... shall I smash the other one too to get a kind of symmetry? ;O)
You were right to keep going, the last lot look perfect to me. I am also a clutter free person, I'm always on the look for something else I can chuck out, lol

I think it looks pretty no matter how you arrange it. If you hate clutter my house would probably drive you crazy right now. Amanda decorated and there are decorations everywhere.
Hello,
I think it looks pretty and I like the tree, Santa and the reindeers and the fairy lights. Have a great day!

I don't have lights. Solves that problem! I do have candles. Real ones. The flames are always yellow/warm and white flames would be totally unnatural...YAM xx
hi I saw your question for the toys, they are made by Frisco, think chewy or amazon has them.... they are troopers and good for some play sessions ;O)))
Oh, my I like each way your book is done...no, I love all three ways.
I love lots of lights but have a problem with getting everything just right so I just use the battery candles! lol I love them in the evenings....say at 5 pm! haha! Enjoy your day.
There are definitely leash laws in Raleigh and Wake Co.
This particular grand house had a wrought iron fence around it with a very fancy automatic gate. This home is in one of the very affluent neighbor of Country Club estates
I love your nook!!

Ha Ha! OCD is my middle name! This could so very well be me. And, I know so well that look on Hubby's face when I am on one of my projects.
I know my clutter would drive you nuts..sometimes it does that to me also.
I am so fond of your "Charlie Brown tree" glad you have it up and yes, I have to agree that the warm candles aren't the best with all the cool white lights.
Can't wait to see what's next!

You did great, but that distant shot takes the cake. Really. Chuckling about Bob 'watching in amazement.' Does he just watch or offer suggestions?
The warm (candle) effect is a bit offputting, but I think they look perfect unlit in that photo right above. Like snow and ice.
The Nook looks very pretty.
It looks beautiful to us. Mom loves the little fairy lights. Our new tree has white lights, but they are LED and too bright. AND there are way too many lights. It is almost blinding to look at it:(

OMGosh, what is wrong with the lovely fairy lights? I have the *dimmable* ones and I love them. They barely glow with just a glimmer of light! I like your nook! I wanted to rhyme NOOK with KOOK but they only LOOK like they rhyme!
I hear where you are coming from. I know my tree may look like clutter but to me it's a work of art. I am very particular with my decorating and constantly going back and changing things. I do like the candles that burn by battery and yes the flames are usually yellow. I just have white candle sticks that are battery operated and the candle stays white. They are the kind that have a bottom with a loop handle like they carried years ago. I does look very pretty, shiny and bright!
Hi Sandra, I'm just loving your tree Odyssey. I had never heard of battery run candles before, what a good idea. Your Christmas nook looks lovely, and I especially like the glass reindeer's.
