My son David, age 57, who lives in TN, had a seizure early am Sunday. He fell out of bed, hit his head hard enough to knock him unconscious, cut on forehead and ear is swollen twice it size and confusion when he came out and did not know his name.
They live in rural TN, no nearby hospitals, 911 took 20 minutes to arrive, he was not as confused by then. Deanna took him to an emergency very small hospital 5 miles away, which is in GA not TN. They have no insurance.
Ct Scan showed no brain bleeds.
He was transferred to a hospital in Atlanta, 2 hours from home waiting for MRI and EEG which is brain waves to test for causes of a seizure. They do know his potassium is low and his sodium levels are dangerously low.
We are hoping the low sodium was the cause of the seizure.
His wife is in a hotel in Atlanta leaving 7 dogs at home for her brother to care for. She is fretting over the dogs, as I would be.

oh noooo..... we are so sorry and we feel with your and your daughter in law... we hope for good news and we also hope that all things will end good.
Sending prayers for your son David! I hope he will be well cared for at the hospital and he recovers quickly.
Oh my goodness. I hope what caused the seizure is something as simple as low sodium/potassium!! Prayers for all!!!
Praying for David!
Praying for David and all of you.
Prayers on the way for David, his wife, his doctors and the brother and dogs. I well recall my alarm when a family friend called and said my mother had fallen and was in the emergency room.
It took almost a week in the hospital for her sodium levels to reach a safe level, but she had other health issues, too. And in the early days of that week if she tried to stand up, she would fall straight back on the bed like a tree that had been cut down. I was afraid to leave her to go to get something to eat or go to the bathroom.
I would alert the nurses station before leaving her side. Sounds like David's younger age is a plus for recovery time.
prayers for you, too.
I am praying for David's complete healing and for the right treatment to prevent further problems. I don't know what causes low sodium levels, maybe that is the key.
Just sent you an e-mail. I am so glad he is in a large and better hospital, continue to let me know!! Can you call his room?

I will say prayers for your son and everyone! My oldest son shares the same name so I really feel connected. Let us know what they find out. I'm glad he's getting good care. Hugs, Diane
Oh, I hope by the time I'm reading this they will have figured out what caused the seizure. Scary stuff!
I'm so sorry to hear this Sandra. Prayers on the way. Please keep us posted with any updates - hugs!
Adding our prayers to the others! Mother had low potassium and low sodiumand it caused her the same as David. The doctors will search for the REASON these are low.....
I know you are worried.....prayers for you, too.
Prayers for you all. Much love and many hugs. ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
Sending all of you prayers. Special hugs to you Sandra. Keep us posted.
We can't imagine the anxiety of something like this in a country where you need health insurance. You must all be so frightened for his health and we really hope it is something that can be fixed by eating the right supplements. Mr B's Mum fell down like that too and diagnosed low sodium - she had had a few weeks of warning signs the family all put down to old age and she ended up in hospital being 'diffused'. There's a word for you. Weird that on the one hand we're being told to reduce salt (a source of sodium) and potassium for that matter, to reduce heart attacks, and now we are seeing the effects of going the other way. It must be a really fine balance!
special thoughts from the other side of the world - here's hoping a positive outcome and your son is soon mending. Plus Sandra and Bob don't forget to care for yourselves...virtual well wishes.
Hello Sandra, :=) I missed this post, so now I know why David was in hospital. You must have been out of your mind with worry, as the rest of the family must have been. I'm so pleased, he is well enough to return home. Lets hope his exams are encouraging.
Sending hugs your way.
I hope and pray it was from sodium. Also I will be praying for everyone and everything - tough situation. I am so sorry. Hugs.
Praying for quick healing and for peace.
I am so sorry to hear this. I never knew low sodium could cause seizures and I learned something new today. Stressful for you, his wife, plus worrying about the seven dogs too, which as we all know are as much part of our family as all our human relatives. All my prayers for a full recovery and good to hear he is now home.
