Bad news: cable remote Quit working
Good News: Bob hated it because he could not see it or use fat fingers on it.
Bad News: I had to drive 10 miles of traffic on the road to the beaches to exchange it at Spectrum and the train caught me.
Good News: there were only 4 people in line, and it was a simple exchange, and when I asked if they had a big button remote, he handed me This
Bad news: Downtown traffic on the way home was backed up
Good News Is Bob loves the remote and I made it home safely |
I found this photo from 2012. It seems that way back then, we had two remotes, one mine, one his and Bob's died because he pokes the buttons so hard, I went to change it and they did not have the big button and gave me the one on the left. Now they ae both dead and gone and we have His New Master.
Just in case you are thinking 10 years is good for it to last that long, we had 2 since then, and now I want to know just why it is always me exchanging them. My question is why do they put the places that people go the most on the busiest street in the city?

The good news in our house is that we have a very simple smart tv with no pay to view channels and a universal (for that brand) remote works well. The Golfer has one - I have one……no problems (except when there’s a battle over sound levels)
Have you dried out yet or is it still piddling down!
What a difference in these two remotes. I'm glad you got an easy and big button one. We have two remotes!
Could you find one online? We're 35 miles from a city so order most of our things.
the remote is like the scepter of the king... you can not rule a house without... great that your king has a fab scepter now... ( my parents bought a tv with voice control...well... don't ask hahahahaha, it's switched off now )
Do you ever wonder what all the extra buttons are for on the complicated one? I've tried stepping on them to see but I seem to have really fat toes and it makes the TV screen go all jumpy. Anyway, maybe they are just for decoration as the big-button one doesn't have them and we assume your TV still works just fine. xxx Mr T

I so rarely use my television that there is very little chance at all of the remote breaking down. Except when it requires a new battery, of course. YAM xx
Wade used to have about 6 remotes. There was the one for the tv, the one from spectrum, the one for the dvr, the one for the stereo and I can't remember what the other two were. He was constantly hitting the wrong button and messing things up and then would call for me to fix it. Used to drive me crazy. You would think an intelligent man with some electrical knowledge would be able to figure out the problem himself.
Hello,
So far only the batteries die on our remotes. The big button remote looks nice, my hubby could use one like that too. I am sure our Comcast store is far away. Sorry about the traffic, glad you made home safely. Take care, have a happy day and a great weekend.
Roger pokes buttons just like Bob...I just cringe sometimes when I watch him.
Well, it ended well! But I sure hate to drive through heavy traffic!
Laughing like a crazy person here and I totally agree.
However our Spectrum is about 3 miles from here. No traffic EXCEPT at the store. 3 weeks ago today we had to turn in an old cable box for a new one. We arrived at 9:50 they open at 10. There was one person in front of us. Only one employee in the store. ANd of course that one person in front of us had a PROBLEM that took 25 minutes to solve.
Yep when we left there was a back up in the store.
Hugs Cecilia
LOLOL, good questions! Did Bob get mad at something on the television and took it our on the poor button?
I truly hate both our remotes -- almost as much as our 'smart' TV. Honestly, most of the time I just leave the programming where Tom put it b/c I don't want to mess with them.
Remotes are the bane of our existence too. Our Smart TV isn't all that smart and neither are we. It takes 2 of us to come to an conclusion..
We also have a tiny remote for Roku..Simple but my brain always forgets the process to go from regular tv to Roku and then back again.
Glad you made it home in one piece. Traffic is the pits.

Sounds like you had more yays than bads, I'll call that a win!!
We zapped our remote when Ed went to take it and when he did..the static electricity from both of us must have gone through it....Luckily, we had a back up lol
Oh Sandra - the woman always do the hard things!!!
I imagine they want to be seen by all those people passing them. Ours is not far from our house. I'm glad the new remote makes Bob happy. I catch a train almost every time I leave to go anywhere. I'm happy when it's just a passenger train. So nice of you to go and get it. I hope he appreciates that!
Despite all the bad news events, we think you ended up on the plus side with that new big button remote. Our Dad is quite challenged when it comes to remotes. He is forever hitting some "odd" button and then Mom has to figure out what he did.
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Right now Louis Dean is so afraid of the remote that he seldom touches it!
He no longer sits in the den watching back to back episodes of Gunsmoke and old TV shows. That may change with the seasons and when it's too cold to go outside and play - he may reach for the remote again! I am enjoying these days.....
What is it with these guys and their remotes? You deserve a medal for dealing with the traffic.
