The bills are paid,
the roof has been made!
The ferns, frog, hummingbirds and the chicken survived.
both inside the house and outside, all living things have thrived.
When the roofers clear the old and add the new shingles, there is a ton of grit flying through the air and for days after it is everywhere.
Asphalt Grit!
We discovered this the 3rd day when the roofers ran from the coming storm and we were in the back yard staring at the roof, and a Mini Windstorm swirled so hard we could hardly stand up.
It covered us with Grit!
Talk about ITCH! Bob got in the pool; I jumped in the shower to rinse it off.
I am still sweeping it from the pool deck after every storm. The rain beats on the roof, and it runs from the dripline to the ground. The sun comes out and dries it to grit, the wind blows, and I grab the broom.
Bob has a rash, a really bad rash, on chest and back.
Common during the summer months for him to have heat rash, but this time it turned flaming red and looked like had had a turtleneck shirt on made of hives.
3 days into it he said I need to go see the doctor; I had been begging him to for 3 days.
Did he decide to when the doctor was in the office? NO!
We went and spent two hours in Urgent Care, crowded with about 40 people which including 20 children.
Nuff Said. Germ City, 2 hours in a mask!
We came home with a Z pack of prednisone and within 24 hours he was better.
THIS COULD have been avoided! Unknown to me, he had pulled all the
Virginia Creeper off the fence and he is allergic to the stuff.
It is in the same family with Poison Oak and Poison Ivy.
Did he wear a long sleeve shirt and gloves?
That would be a NO.

hugs and potp... men often ignore the simple things... like mark... he only has to wear a cap to protect his face from sun but that is way too much ... sigh...
Oh brother, men sure don't use the best judgement. I think they are under the impression that they are invincible. So you had to sit in urgent care with all those germy kids all because he didn't wear long sleeves and gloves.

...sigh... oh dear, Bob... YAM xx
Why did he do that? Did he not recognize it as Creeper? Did he not remember his allergy? And the most terrifying thing is the Urgent Care with all the sick people, Lord have Mercy! I have not heard of this roofing grit problem! Wasn't it in the pool too?
Sounds like a mad few days with all the troubles. Hope all settle in!
I hope you have some smooth sailing for a while. You deserve it!
Sorry that Bob had such a bad reaction. Glad he got it taken care of. Grit? That is something I would not have known about as an after effect of a new roof.. I too hope you have a stressless time from now on.
All I can say is.... MEN!!
YIKES. Whew thank goodness your brick wall finally listened to you. I know he must have been miserable to admit he needed a doctor.
Glad all are on the mend and the roof is done
Hugs Cecilia
So happy for the "Easy Fix". The itch must have been really bad for Bob to want to go to the doctor. Glad the meds did the trick and now you know what the culprit it. Hope you can get rid of the creeper without another incident.
Roof Grit sounds awful. Hope you have gotten rid of it now.
So glad things are done, over, finished...
No more DRAMA !!!
