Above is last week of our Staghorn Fern that hung there since 2004.
It fell again for the 5th time since 2004. It weighs almost 100 pounds.
It survived both hurricanes in 2022
The chain snapped during a normal rain this week.
See that tall tree, Bob leaned an extension ladder on the limb, a crooked limb which means the ladder leaned, and took his 192 lb self-up the ladder halfway, to hook up the come along, and I stood holding the ladder and his butt for just in case the ladder fell over.
it took us 2 hours to get the thing back in the tree.
While standing with my arms over my head, in fear of him falling, it did occur to me that IF the ladder fell, the man, the ladder and the staghorn would take me down with them.
It's done and no 86-year-old man/78-year-old woman was harmed in the hanging of the staghorn.
I did get insta toon pics for the fun part.
UPDATE
HOUSE next door with RED Door is Occupied!
3 Adults and 3 pit bulls!
Ov Vey! the NOISE when they all realized each was there. So Far no Problems!
My brain kept me awake for hours last night, but the brain could be wrong

Struth...I'd've been tempted to let it rest where it fell!
Hope the new neighbours settle in well - and peacefully! YAM xx
I'm glad you weren't hurt! And fingers crossed about the neighbors. 🤞
same here... I grabbed marks waisband as he tried to get a leash out of a pond... as if I could hold him with one hand... in worst case we both would land in the abyss... but that are this moments... exactly THIs... :O)
Wow, the fern is HUGE!!
Good job in getting that back up there. If it was here it would have been sitting on the ground forever.
Hope all goes well with the new neighbors.
Hello,
I love that plant, I am glad you, Bob and the plant were OK. No one was hurt.
I hope your new neighbors are nice! Take care, enjoy your day!
Not a fun job! I really hope there will be no problems with the pitbulls. Otti never carried on with barking...loved almost everyone.
Well done. Warm greetings!
Three pit bulls and three people - interesting.
Well good job putting it back together - I am not sure what we would have done. You protected Bob though.
WTG BOB and MD Snapper.
That is a most extraordinary plant.
I'm glad it survived the fall and MOST OF ALL GLAD YOU TWO

Hugs cecilia
Almost 100 pounds wow, wow.
Glad no one was harmed. You’re funny!
Love the instatoon!
Here’s to a better sleep for you tonight.
Good GRIEF!! How on earth did he manage to LIFT it?? A superhuman feat, to be sure. Does it keep growing, even slowly? How did the walk go today? The pics are really cool!
We are surprised your arms are not stuck in a 'permanently UP' position after holding ladders and stuff for two hours. it is a magnificent staghorn however and well worth hanging up again. Did Beau supervise? xxx Mr T
And what were you using to hold your cell phone to call 911?! Gosh, that staghorn should count its blessings y'all were able to put him back without incident ... not like Humpty Dumpty.
PS - Love your new sidebar toon! Would you puleeeeze send some of that F.U.N. my way?
Wow...I think I may have left it where it was too...good job yo you and Bob for getting it back up in the tree!!
Here's hoping your neighbors are good ones!
WOW - we are impressed you two managed to do that.
And what does Beau think of his new canine neighbors:)?
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

I'm happy to read that no 86-year-old man/78-year-old woman was harmed in the hanging of the staghorn :) That staghorn is enormous and beautiful! I love the photo effects. Hope your new neighbors work out.
The staghorn looks lovely in those photos. I'm so sorry it fell. I am thankful that you were able to get it back up but that is not safe for either of you. I hope the neighbors work out for you.
