Saturday at O dark 30, I found myself, the MadBloviator1,walking through the doors elbow to elbow with another woman about my age.
As we stepped in the doors, Bloviator2 said to me "You and I are the only shoppers in the store with paper lists in our hands."
I said "we even used the same type of tablet. Pen and Paper is my thing. It's so easy to just jot on the tablet and much quicker to glance down at that trying to balance a phone that might get lost if I lay it down"
She said "I know, right? who needs to deal with a phone, paper is so much easier."
I said " I can beat the paper story, and you will not believe this, but last week I saw a MAN with a calculator? " Shopping! with a calulator
Her eyes went WIDE and she said "NO! You didn't?"
Ok you get the gist of it. I met Bloviator 2 at Walmart; and I am not the only Chatty Cathy in the building.
This post is for those of you who said you don't like to talk to strangers in doctors' offices and public places and don't really want someone talking to you while you wait.
To Set your minds at rest, just in case you meet me in a public place, I only talk to participating Bloviators
I say, I like your shoes. You say Thanks! if you give me zero feed back, I WILL NOT talk to you.
I only bloviate with other bloviators. Warning! the more feedback from you, the more you will get!
For those of you wondering what the glamour shots above have to do with this post, the answer is.
I asked AI for bloviator, bright colors, glamour. That is what I got.
Second try, I said "two old ladies, talking while walking into walmart BINGO!
More like it but she had on jeans and a t-shirt and I had on leggings and a t-shirt. no hats. |

I'm glad you found her! That was healthy for both of you. I say "have a nice day!" to people I see in the laundry room (it's often empty, so don't always get the chance). They usually seem surprised but sometimes smile. I don't want them to think I'm imposing and want to talk, but if any did respond I might interact a bit more.
And we're with you about paper shopping lists. Much easier to deal with. ❤️
how great that you found a nother bloviator. I like paper shopping lists. the worst thing is to forget them at home while you are in the store with an empty brain. to have it on the phone is dangerous.... not easy to find your phone back in a junk store where you placed it in one of the 3677256 bargain bins......

I'm always on for a good chat!!! YAM xx
I always use pen and paper for my shopping lists. Even when shopping groceries online I start with a list on paper. - I don't normally chat with strangers in shops or waiting rooms but it happens. Depends on the circumstances!
Yeah - we did think the hats were a bit OTT for a trip to Walmart - were they going to the races after doing their shopping? xxx Mr T
I want to be a talker and a carrier of a conversation - and I am good at greeting - it is that second and third line I don't know how to do.
I envy you.
Love the pics!
I just realized I am a bloviator, too!!! I talk to any and all...anywhere. well, almost anyone. There will k occasionally be someone I dont want to talk to .
I have to confess that when shopping I am not into chatting. I want to get in and get out as quickly as possible.
I love a good chat with a kindred spirit
Hugs cecilia
What a fun encounter! I, too, love 'idle chit-chat' with friendly folks. You reminded me of the time shortly after we moved here, I saw a lady putting these big ugly green things in a bag. I asked and learned they were collards. "How do you prepare them?" Big smile; she was happy to explain. Another time I held the door for a (black) lady coming in behind me and we started talking. Turns out, she was from Chicago where (she said), "They'd just as soon shoot you as look at you." When her boyfriend came down he couldn't believe how friendly everyone here was.
Again you nailed it in the blog department. We often talk to who ever is around us while shopping and often get the same reaction as you..They answer..we talk otherwise bye bye.
Love the AI old ladies. Interesting to see what their opinion of OLD LADIES is.

Oh and YES on the paper lists too. I always have one to make sure I get the things I have run out of or things we don't get very often.

LOL...I think next time you need to wear hats!
It amazes me how you always manage to find people to talk to when you are out. I don't normally try to strike up conversations but one the rare occasion that I do try, I get very little response.
I think all those old ladies look like they would be fun to hang out with.
I just finished my paper list for grocery shopping tomorrow morning.
At least you have fun while you are shopping. If you ever see me in the store I'll be the one singing the jingles of the items I see on each isle while my wife is acting like she doesn't know me!
Hello,
Hubby and I always together shopping and we do take a paper list.
I like the photos you found of the woman shoppers, they are colorful.
Have a happy day and a great weekend.
I enjoyed your bloviating. Fun! I like to keep to myself when shopping but if someone starts talking, I'm usually the same. These nice little conversational interludes make shopping a fun experience.
