Croc Tale

Bob loves his Crocs.. It is all he wears,

6 months ago, we went to the Cardiologist, and he told Bob he needed to WALK, every day, as long as he could.
Bob said I swim laps. Doc said Good for you. YOU NEED TO WALK!
As we left, he said wear the proper shoes, you can't walk in those shoes,

Next 3 month checkup, Bob said he was walking every day.

Doc said you are not walking. I can tell by the way you walk. If you are walking in those shoes, you are not walking properly.

Bob growled I walk fine.  (he does not, he shuffles slowly)

it has now been 6 months, he still shuffles. Another cardio visits, Doc says you need to walk. You still can't walk. You still have on the same shoes.

He has refused all offers of walking shoes
This past Saturday I bought these and guessed at the size. I guessed right.

Bob wore them Monday morning, March 11, 2024. He did not shuffle. When I asked him how the shoes were, he said I could not top walking faster, the more I walked the faster I walked, I felt like I had wings.
He is a stubborn mule headed man. We shall see how much faster and further he goes with the new winged shoes. I am betting he will be walking with Beau and I instead of lagging a block behind by the end of a week and also go with us the whole walk instead of half the way.
PS, he refuses all laced shoes just so you know.

Hello,
Walking is good, my hubby is always lagging behind.
He does the shuffle too, lol.
The new shoes were a great purchase, especially if it gets Bob out walking more. Take care, have a happy day!

That was a good guess! I am glad it has him walking.

Those shoes look way better for walking in than Crocs. Men are stubborn. Wade would never believe what they told him if he had his mind made up that it was something else.

Yes, shuffling seems to be what happens to our guys as they age. We do take walks every day (or try to, weather permitting), and if he wears his skechers he does just fine. If he forgets and wears his "deck shoes" he shuffles. He wears those in the house most of the time and I hate the sound of him shuffling across the floor, but I can't seem to get him to change to something more supportive in the house. I wear skechers all the time, but have "inside shoes" and outside shoes. I can't walk barefoot anymore at all. I've never tried crocs...I know they wouldn't feel good to me. I don't like rubber shoes. Well, this was interesting. Thank you for the smiles and I hope you all keep walking together!

Well done you, on finding those shoes for him. (Tip: If he grows to love them, and they're good for him, buy a second pair while they're still available...) I depend very much on good shoes myself, that's one thing I don't hesitate to spend money on if necessary.

Anything that gets him walking and moving is a darn good thing!

OK, I know walking is a good thing. It's a necessary thing. But still, Bob's doc sounds rather unpleasant.

Tom's doctors all the time ask if he's exercising, but that's a moot point. He does well lately to shuffle to the kitchen or the bathroom. Neither of us have ever tried on a pair of crocks. For some reason, I've got it in my head I/we could easily turn an ankle ... or just walk out of them. So glad Bob likes those you found!

I guess my number one question is what is the brand and cost.
Those seem to have a good band across the arch which I'm sure gives the support in just the right place too.
Dave shuffles in certain shoes too. He does like his Crocs. for working in the yard.
Yay for Bob trying the new shoes out and having fleet feet now!

Holy moosepoops, Sandra! This is so inspiring! What kind of sneakers/shoes are they? The Pres could use a pair because his recliner is wearing out!…JP

That is great news. I hope they change everything for him and he can walk and walk and walk. Glad you bought those for him.

Those look GREAT! You will have to let us know!

This is wonderful!! And so are you for actually choosing a pair that fit him without trying them on!! They look good, too. I think it was Mercury who had wings on his feet. So that fits right in with your story. I only wear Crocs too, my feet are too wide.

Other than yardwork and gardening, walking is my go to exercise also. I like walking. I like the new shoes chosen for walking. Steve and I both have some that are similar. They are great.
Blessings. 💙

I'm glad that worked for Bob. Andy wears walking shoes but still shuffles.
