MY CHEMO SHOT IS APPROVED AND WILL BE 1 PM ON NOVEMBER 13TH.
DOING A HAPPY DANCE
WAITIN TO HEAR ABOUT BOB
Since Helene side swiped us, and Milton hit us directly as a cat 3 hurricane, I have found I am a descendant of a Pioneer Woman. At 80 years of age, I have found, I can use a pitchfork like a ranch hand, and that on day 4 of doing it, the pain went away, and I have used the pitchfork every day since then. These photos are of the mess left by removing the pine tree, and we have 600sq ft of this mess. It is a danger to my husband, and he cannot walk on it, due to health issues
I have worked on it since the day they left. I am raking the broken slate the Bobcat shattered, the rocks it tumbled over and broke into pieces and the roots of all our trees that came up and are lethal to trip over, or jam in foot or leg. I have leveled about 200 sq feet, working 2 hours a day and 1 time 3 hours. Now I plan to do one hour a day. I have to buy a new rake, got a new hoe but Walmart had no tools at all. Hoping Home Depot will have a heavy duty rake.
1st I rake with pitchfork to bring up what is hidden,
snip with snipper the roots that appear
use pitchfork to throw broken slate into the giant holes around large rocks
and use rake to level. I need a heavy-duty rake.
I am now a Pioneer Woman to the Bone.
I hate it! I am so thankful I did not live back then.
Bob does the heavy lifting, he is very strong, but only for long enough to stagger with moving one thing at a time. He can pick up a couch but can't walk with it. Knees were replaced but they never got strong enough for him to walk very far.
I direct him where it goes, because he can't remember the plan we made.
I do not know how the pioneers made it through the day, doing the same thing I am doing now.
This is the tree compacted into a delightful smelling of pine sap, on the easement curb of the neighbors yard. Every street is lined with the same thing, it is rare to find a house with no debris
we have this blown down fence to deal with and finding help is not good at this time.
I have to go out every time Beau goes out because there are 3 holes he can get out of.
we also have 2 sections of chain link bent in half, but he will not climb that, even though it is
4 feet tall.
I know this is a long post and its ok to just look and leave. I am overwhelmed and just wanted to dump the pictures and story and get on with LIFE.

Of COURSE I am not going to just look and leave! I want to know what is going on with you! You are amazing! surely You could maybe hire a handyman who needs money, and tell him to do what you are doing?? But maybe they are all so busy. But maybe this will build your endurance and muscles. SO glad you will only be doing one hour a day now. Slow and steady wins the race.
I feel your frustration and pain...doing the same thing here, ast least the only ones who are walking in the back where our mess is, are the pups and me. At least our fence is intact, and the broken gate while it was OK closed, has been replaced and is functional once again. I work with rake, pitchfork, and shovel...and a small battery chainsaw. The men who help when they can use a huge chainsaw...but I think their work is done now, and NO MORE bobcat!
I was out some late afternoons for 2 - 3 hours as well...making burn piles and trying to level out all the ruts and other messes...mainly holes where the heavy limbs fell into the ground. Monday I had three burn piles going...two small ones and one huge one...now its raining...will be (not) fun walking in all the mudpies, now, and the logs won't finish burning till I start them up again when they dry out...sigh...my in-housework suffers for the yard work!
That's horrible! I'm glad you are going to start doing only an hour a day. I hope you find a good rake, good tools are essential. Much love. 💗

Of course you have PW in you! Isn't it amazing what reserves we can find when the need arises?! An hour a day sounds like a good plan, and doubles as a proper workout without the gym fees 🤪 YAM xx
That's a lot of work. I wish you didn't have to do all that but I'm impressed with what you have accomplished. It's amazing what we can do when we force ourselves to. It's smart to limit how long you work out there though..
all the good luck for the shot day... we hope it will chase the evil c away from you... I hear you for living in the old times... I would cry and scream... uuuh
You have my deep admiration, and sympathy too. It’s a lot of work for a person half your age, and you have to keep a close eye on Bob, too. It’s probably of little comfort, but it could have been much worse. If I lived close by I’d bring over soup.
Hello,
You are amazing, it looks like so much back breaking work.
I am so glad you are able to the chemo shot. I hope all goes well with you and Bob. Take care, have a great day!
Every time I see all this and think of what you have been through, I think of this line from Leather and Lace (Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac song):
I have my own life
And I am stronger
Than you know
Actually, I think you are stronger than you knew!
SANDRA you are indeed a woman who works very very hard...maybe harder than the Pioneer woman..since they had no idea about the modern conveniences of today. I sure do hope you can find someone to repair the broken fencing.
Hugs Cecilia
That's such hard work and I don't know how they did it either. I'm sure happy to hear that your chemo was approved.
How dare Ree Drummond call herself 'Pioneer Woman'! You are simply A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. -- certainly made of sterner stuff than me. Wouldn't your ancestors be proud?
Now I'm wondering if local church groups or Boy Scouts couldn't step up to the plate to assist with properties like yours.
So happy the chemo shot came back approved!
I'm glad you are documenting everything and am amazed at the work you are getting done. You are proving that age is definitely just a number!
I read every word.
Praise God your shot got approved.
So you have to clean, watch Beau, and Bob - your hands are full.
I hope so new tools come in, remember Rome wasn't built in a day.
Bet you are keeping your weight down! lol
I'm in awe at how much work you have been able to put in but hope you will find some help with what you can't cope with alone. Also hope all goes well (again) with the chemo shot, and glad you won't have to wait longer. ♥
Bless your heart...This saddens me for you having to do all of this hard work. You certainly are a Pioneer Woman these days. I'm guessing that the city will eventually come and pick up what is on the sidewalks or in front of your home? Hoping so! I must say, I admire you for being able to get out there and work this hard. I most likely would be stove up for days. Prayers continue for you and I am so very thankful that the shot was approved....
Yay and a happy dance here for your shot approval. Praying the same for Bob.
My Friend...you definitely are a pioneer woman and can do anything you set your mind to.Hoping you can get some help with the removal and other things. So glad that you are not hurting as much. You have a lot on your plate with Beau and Bob. I want you to be able to Get On With LIFE too. Hang in there you have a lot of us behind you wishing you health and energy and maybe an extra dose of patience too.
Sue
God Bless You for working so hard on getting things cleaned up so Bob can walk through the yard. You are amazing and I am glad you are not hurting anymore. Very happy to hear about your shot and praying that all goes well with Bob's procedure. Take Care.
I am amazed at the amount of physical labor you are having to do. You ARE WONDER WOMAN as well as a Pioneer Woman! I know my limitations and you have surpassed them way over. Sometimes just true grit and determination is what it takes to get the job done. Just be careful and don't hurt yourself. Muscles will heal, but bones take a long time to mend. So be careful. Praying for your procedures. (((Hugs)))
You definitely have that pioneer spirit. One hour a day sounds the way to go. As for Bob and Beau, you are the hub of their wheel. And I never leave your blog without reading every word. I always knew you were an amazing lady. This what you are doing right now proves it. Good to know you will be getting your chemo shot. All this work you are doing, please take a rest spell when you need it. Pioneer women have a tendency to push through but please listen to your body when it tells you to take a spell.
Pioneers got their rest days too - don't forget to have rest days. In fact whole seasons turned into rest days when winter closed in (possibly in more northern parts that you inhabit).
That is a lot of work - no idea where you find the energy. Please do take care.
