the path to the gate into the front yard used to
Look like this, slate pathway with mowed weeds, grass and a lot of pine needles and we are
left with this. (we hope the neighbor will soon put back his privacy fence which is on the ground
we have a six foot chain link fence, that was there when we bought the house.
Due to 5 children living in that house, about 15 years ago, we ask if we could put privacy fence there and they agreed. They moved and the new owner fenced the rest of the yard and it has been a blessing.
The privacy fence has fallen down in 2 prior storms and he put it right back up.
His fence is leaning on the chain fence and we can't straighten it until he puts his back up. It is his fence, he replaced it after Irma tore down the whole fence.
The storm left 2 portions of the back side fence like this
except it was not all the way down like this until the tree people threw the pipe and 4x4 wood that used to hold a swing on top of it.
For now, I have barricaded this by dragging the metal swing, a trash can, and you can't see it but i built a fence of old boards to block access to keep this beloved dog from going through the hole.
I am done working in the yard.
My husband is refusing adamantly to let me hire a repair person so this may stay like
this until we die.
Beau is sad over his shady yard becoming a one shade part yard. from noon until sundown, there is brilliant and still hot Florida sun, and the entire kitchen, doors and windows must be kept closed because of the heat it brings. our day are still upper 80's until sundown at 7:30
I am sad I can no longer see out the windows and enjoy the sun through the blinds shining in my kitchen. Soon December will bring cool air and I can open the blinds and enjoy the heat the sun brings.
and now we wait for rain... we are back to no rain at all and we have black beach sand. This is the 3rd fence that was crushed by the tree, its on the opposite side in the only shade we have.
Bob propped it up with a limb and a pole
Mama leaned her tools against the house and said I am DONE! |

So the tree people wrecked part of the fence! Oh, if only there was some way you could have someone to come over and help!!
That's so sad that Bob says no to letting you get help. No wonder you're saying you are done. 😟

Good fences make good neighbours, it's said... I hope it does get done soon, although to be fair, it might be a while as workers will be on overtime with all the repairs needing done...YAM xx
hugs... we hope there is a solution and a way... and even when the way is like your path, small and hard to walk, it is a way what leads to the goal... paws and fingers crossed...
Sounds to me like those tree people were not very good to have just thrown stuff on the fence like that and to not clean up any mess or fix any damage they did. Hopefully the neighbor takes care of his privacy fence soon
It’s heartbreaking to see the damage that is happening all over the world at the moment. So very traumatic for all communities concerned. Life has changed for so many and it’ll take a while for everyone to recover.
Hopefully your neighbour gathers the energy to replace the fence - it must have been distressing for him as well
Good morning,
I hope your neighbor puts the fence back!
I wish Bob would change his mind about getting help with the yard work. Take care, have a great day!
There are two people living in your house; an equal partnership I would hope. Seems pretty sad that one partner is assuming the role of dictator.
You sure have had a mess to try to clean up...it is a miracle you have been able to do as much as you have.
I understand the yard must be a rather depressing sight just now, but hold on to the fact that you've really accomplished quite a lot of tidying up! Hopefully your neighbour will put the fence back up - but I suppose they too might be in need of some help , and perhaps for them the fence is not first priority (?)
These storms have brought an awful lot of mess. It's so exhausting having to constantly fix things, isn't it?! Guess you saw my post on FB about how our little dog Maggie found yet another hole out of our field fence and took off wandering?! Yipes! I can understand the anx about not having a proper fence. This stuff is wearing thin. And now there are more storms brewing. *heavy sigh* We're stocking up, praying the storms will quieten for all of us and that our finances will hold, and we can move on to something else. Prayers that y'all can find a good solution to all this soon and everything feel "normal" again. I totally understand. ((Hugs))
I'm just glad y'all were okay during those awful storms! A lot of us have less than desirable back yards...doesn't matter!
hugs

Actually, ours doesn't look that different -- and we've only the army worms to blame. No wonder you're 'done'! Those tree people should be ashamed of themselves for adding bad to worse. Suppose you could get any relief from FEMA, or is that only for structural damage? Still praying, girl!
Sandra I am so sorry for this horrid mess Milton left.
Per chance would Bob agree to hire someone to at least fix the fence FOR BEAU...maybe if he realizes Beau would be safer and more confident it would make him change his mind.
Many hugs and purrs Bob will think of Beau

As if you didn't already have enough to deal with! I don't know if it would work for you - but I went ahead and hired some things done and LD ended up liking it. He did fuss and fume some while it was happening but I stood my ground. It's chancy but an idea. Or have your son help. Maybe give Bob a choice - son or hired help? Just a thought. Love and prayers....
This makes me sad for you...Not only to lose your big tree and your yard to be messed up, but to have to feel uncomfortable with the fence not being put back up...looks like it needs to be replaced. I know this has been exhausting for you. Considering all that you all have experienced these last few months, you have such a positive attitude.. Prayers that it all gets fixed soon...have a beautiful Tuesday and hopefully some rain will come your way...we have had rain for two days now.
What a mess you have been dealing with. I sure hope things settle down for you soon.
I am like the others - such a shame - and I am so sorry.
Can you call the tree people and complain? Can you go to your neighbor and explain you need the fence up because of Beau - offer Bob's help? And can you call someone anyway - I know it would make him mad - but . . .
I’m sorry that the aftermath of those storms have been frustrating for you. Call some churches in your area or the Boy Scouts. The tree people should be responsible for the mess they made.
Yikes too much work and I am sad that the tree guys did so much extra damage. Poor Beau looks so forlorn.
I do hope you get things like the fence back up and can enjoy your backyard again.
Sue
