Up Date on Beau and Bob

hunting for grass, always know he is sick when he starts this

Starting at 3 pm on Wed 11/12/25 Beau was pacing until 9:15 pm, vomit/diarrhea, slept until 3 am on Thursday, and a repeat of day before. That and Dermatologist visit is the reason I was MIA.

This is the 4th time this has happened, since New Years Eve. It starts with pacing, eating grass and I know its going to last about 8 hours at least. I follow him step by step, we both get exhausted. There is very little grass because drought came back. Photos are of him hunting for grass.

Beau had nothing but rice to eat all day yesterday, I gave him sticky rice, 4 bites 5 times yesterday. his last episode was about 5 am yesterday 11/13/25, just gave him rice with his gabapentin, vet said stop meds except for that one. he said for a few days give him rice and let his stomach heal from whatever is causing this. He admitted he doesn't know what is causing it. we could spend a few thousand for testing like they do for humans, he thinks it is digestive somewhere but no way to tell without tests. we will not be doing that.

Our Transport guy took us to dermatologist and results are:
biopsy not skin cancer
biopsy of hive, caused by allergic reaction to some kind of drug..(we knew this)
he still has a rash, can't have more prednisone, can take up to 4 of the Allegra a day, rub Sarna lotion on the rash.

After Bob warmed up in the sunshine after his bath
We were picked up by our favorite driver and brought home and were back home in 50 minutes and the beau was fine when we got back.

That is all, the day flew by. We were exhausted, Bob was asleep and had been since 4:40 and at 6:30 we went to bed and slept until 3:15, with 2 potty breaks so feeling better this morning.

This morning I gave Beau 1 spoon pure pumpkin, 1 spoon RX can dog food, on 1/4 cup of rice and we await the results of eating that to make adjustments to diet.vet said 48 hours of mostly rice. His stomach is still not right because he is letting those Stink Bombs off.... if you have a dog you will know that smell.

I have no way of knowing, of course, but it’s quite possible that the grass Beau is seeking might solve the problem. Animals are known to heal themselves. Glad to hear that Bob is at least comfortable and enjoying the warm sunshine. Keep on smiling!

Hello Sandra
I am glad all went well with the doctor visit.
It is good Bob is getting good sleep. Now if only you were able to sleep more. Sending healing prayers for Beau and Bob.
Take care, enjoy your day!

Wow, that's awesome that you got all that sleep but not so much that you were exhausted. Hope Beau is back to normal soon.
Good news on Bobs biopsy.

I'm so glad Beau is feeling better, and I pray that continues. I wish there was some way to know what triggers it, but just like in our own tummies, we don't always know the culprit, but we know we just have to let it run its course until we feel better. Glad Bob got good news on his skin issues, and also that you all got a good night's sleep, which I know was much needed especially for you. Continued prayers for all of you day by day. (((HUGS)))

I know this must have been a very exhausting day for each of you. It's nice to have a driver that you trust and enjoy...thankful he came your way. Hoping Bob is better and that Beau will be much better today. I've always heard that when dogs eat grass it's because. it soothes their stomach... Continued prayers for all of you Sandra.

So sorry that Beau had another episode... I quite understand the decision to not go all 'poke and prod' on him. At least the doc visit was as positive as it can be in the circumstances. Continued Love and Prayers sent from here to there... YAM xx

Hi Sandra :)
My dogs always ate grass when their stomachs were upset. I wish you knew what causes the upset. I'm glad that Bob is feeling better and that you both slept well.
All the best

This drought is something else! It's bad up here in SE Georgia. I pray for rain every day. It's dry as a bone.
Poor Beau! And poor you for having to deal with everything all at once. May Bob get better soon too. Remembering you in prayer. May your days only get better.
Love.

Happy news on biopsies. I have lots of skin issues to I use Sarna when they are really itchy and I like the fresh scent. Otherwise I use only Aveeno.
Toto the mighty mini dachshund....never ever knew from where the smells came...
Healing hugs to sweet handsome Beau

Beau instinctively knows that eating grass soothes the tummy. Why not put up a sprinkler and water a patch of dead grass so he will have some to munch on.
How nice Bob can sit in the sunshine and look out at that nice view of the pool. I remember how much he loves to be in that pool. What a relief that there is no cancer. Continued prayers for you, Bob and precious Beau.

PTL for that "no cancer" definition!
Ya, it always bothers me when one of the girls gets to chewing on grass. They hate it, but when we suspect one or the other has an upset tummy I bring out the unflavored Pedialyte. Sticky rice never occurred to me, but I'm going to try that.
Love this picture of Bob staring out the patio doors. That's so good!

Sorry to hear Beau isn't feeling well again, but it sounds like he's feeling better. Glad to hear Bob's biopsy results were good. All paws are crossed that Beau is on the mend.

Thankful biopsy were negative. I had melanoma from too much time at the beach in Savannah.
My black lab, Buddy, suffered with digestive issues. I know how frustrating it is to not know the cause. 🙏 Beau is feeling better soon. Hugs to you😩

I know the waiting with Beau is hard. I actually think this photo of Bob sitting in the sun is so artistic. Both beautiful and sad.

Sorry to har Beau is not well. You are learning new skills, a vet nurse and a geriatric nurse. It is sad you can't get any time off.

I'm glad the news from the Derm visit was good but poor Beau and poor you, that's exhausing for sure. Big hugs from all of us.

Glad it wasn't skin cancer, and hope Allegra will help with the allergy reactions. (I take those myself most of the year. Just now on a winter break from them, though.)

Oh me ... if its not one thing its another.
Good news on your cancer spot. I sure hope you can figure out what's causing some of the problems.
I do like seeing Bob gazing out the door and enjoying the sun shine. Does he still want to get in the pool?
Prayers for Beau and all of his troubles. Praying they clear up asap.
(((hugs)))

good to read Beau's recovery started quickly and making good pace. Stink bombs aide at leady he doesn't roll in filth. Scully does. Today even a wash with shampoo and a rinse under the tank spout didn't completely eliminate the smell of something very dead.

Oh my goodness, I'm genuinely so sorry you and Beau had such a rough few days. That back-to-back pacing, vomiting, and diarrhea sounds absolutely draining for both of you. You must be totally running on empty, and the fact that you follow him step-by-step just shows what a sweet and dedicated dog parent you are. It's such a relief that the dermatologist visit gave you some clear answers, and that the biopsy wasn't skin cancer! Knowing the hive is from a drug allergy and having a plan with the Allegra and Sarna lotion is a major step forward, even if the pacing issue is still a mystery. Seriously, dealing with the mystery stomach problems, the rice-only diet, and those famous "stink bombs", you are a warrior. You definitely earned that long sleep.

I really hope the pumpkin and canned food mix settles perfectly and you can all finally catch a break! Would you like me to look up any natural, vet-approved home remedies for soothing a dog's upset stomach, just in case you need more ideas?

So sad Beau has such tummy issues. Rice might not help as these days the farm chemical are nasty on crops. You sure have a lot to cop with now.
