the only cake I ever baked, was a mix (none for the last 30 years), for cookies I use the refrigerated dough you break apart and bake to bake a pie I put Mrs Smith frozen in the oven or even better, stop by the bakery.I make one pot meals and would live on sandwiches if I were not married. When my children were growing up, we had chili, spaghetti, crock pot meals and all of the above mentioned.
In short I HATE to cook and bake. I don't mind clean up duty, in fact prefer it.I am so bad, when I married Bob, 25 years ago, our first Thanksgiving, I said I have never cooked a Turkey before (I was age 40 then)and his answer was, neither have I, but I can read. I LET him cook that turkey, and still have NEVER cooked a turkey. He did such a good JOB it has become a tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for The Man to cook the turkey.Yes, I do clean up the mess! I almost forgot, he makes the stuffing also. I cook the frozen corn, open the can of cranberry sauce, steam the frozen veggies, open the package of rolls and place in oven, and of course we have Bakery pumpkin pie.

Yesterday, I told him three of my email pals, Madeline, Carole and Catherine they were making me feel bad because they all bake, boil, fry, and DO recipes ( I can't follow one and make it taste right).they were sharing all that WORK in our emails. All it did was make me hungry.
When I mentioned this to my husband Bob,he said, that is OK, my first wife could not cook either. He said when we first got married, she wanted to make his favorite chicken livers wrapped in bacon. She comes out of the kitchen, and says I can't get the bacon to wrap around the livers it keeps breaking up.Seems she COOKED the bacon FIRST! He said, the first pot of Spaghetti she made, she did not cook the burger, just dumped the lump in and all the ingredients and started it to boiling. YUM!

Love it! At Thanksgiving my husband cooks: The turkey; the stuffing, which he makes from scratch; a creamed onion dish; from-scratch baked potatoes; half-from-scratch pumpkin pie. I mix sugar and water and bring it to a boil and pour the bag of fresh cranberries in and try to remember to stir it once or twice and to take it off the heat when the cranberries have popped. Usually he has to remind me that I am in charge of cranberry sauce while I am in the process of making cranberry sauce (or he stirs it and takes it off the heat). I can make: A great lemonade pie that involves mixing stuff together and putting it in the fridge; any cocktail at all that involves ice and the blender; a fantastic crabmeat spread for crackers; reasonably good macaroni salad.
I loved this post! And the photos!

Thanks, Peggy, maybe being a photographer has something to do with the non cooking part, you take great pictures, and prefer not to cook, like I do. Must be that...
I love your food blog posting. All beautiful. You are a wonderful cooker if you ask me.
As long as the eater's are happy, that is all that counts! As I have said it is not what you are eating, it is who you are eating with.....
Love ya,
I love how crazy and HONEST you are!!! I just love YOU! And cooking and baking is not the all in all people think it is!
We don't even have an oven that bakes any more, and we do just fine between our microwave and Instant Pot. We both like simple and nutritious food, so we don't spend much time cooking.
So, good for you! And for us because you like to take pictures and blog. 😊❤️

I avoid ovens but do like cooking on the hob. I have never been a baker though once in a while I give it a go. Then remember why I don't!!! YAMxx
Oh my on Bob's first wife and her cooking. I used to think Amanda was bad when she was first experimenting in the kitchen. Hers was more of a measurement issue though. I can't imagine the burger in the pot boiling for spaghetti...lol
Since hubby and I moved to the our house we are living in now, I have cooked the family's Thanksgiving dinner, turkey and all the fixings. I still make dinner each day and there are some meals that hubby makes. I do love to eat out in a restaurant, I wish we lived closer to a beach and a restaurant with a view. Take care, enjoy your day!
Both my wife and I like to cook, and we both enjoy great variety in our food, so we eat very well in our house. Last evening, because it has been depressingly hot of late, we had caprese salad, Greek salad and filet of sole. The whole meal is prepared in no time at all and it is both tasty and nutritious. I am not quite sure how, but a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc found it’s way to the table too, so we felt an obligation to have wine with our dinner - a regular habit for us. As for cleaning up, that is my chore exclusively. But she does the laundry, so that sounds like an even trade. And while I am on a roll, I recently took everything out of the kitchen drawers and cupboards and washed everything down, something I do a couple of times per year. Everywhere looks spick and span and clean as can be, and we both enjoy that.
I am not a great chef, by any means.. but I dont hate the cooking itself. I hate figuring out what to cook since Roger dies not really enjoy eating now. And I am so tired if doing dishes and clean up. If it were just me..not sure what I would do...I know in summer there would be more just sandwiches!
Now I know why I ❤️ you ... we're exactly the same!
Tom (plus my former husband) were the Chief Cooks; I made it clear from the beginning I'd rather do clean-up. Oh sure, I love my slow cooker and the Instant Pot .... I've never made a turkey (seriously can't stand to touch raw poultry) and don't intend to start now.
That's so funny about Bob's first wife's kitchen adventures. He should write a book!
There's them that cooks and them that create in other ways - you create in other ways. It makes people happy. Don't beat yourself up. xxx Mr T (who doesn't cook anything either).
Great post. I had never seen it before. I started blogging around that time but didn't know you. I loved hearing about you not cooking or baking and Bob doing the turkey. I think I was around 38 when I cooked my first turkey. I find it is the easiest thing to make.
HaHa you make me smile. I really don't like to cook or bake and do use a lot of "shortcuts" in the process. Handy Dandy microwaves. crock pots and instant pots have come to my rescue most of the time.
Making brownies for Celebrate Recovery dessert time Friday...and of course its from a box and tasty for sure!
Sue
All that looks yummy to me! Our Dad loves to cook.
