When Angels Came To Town...

In the Hallmark movie, When Angels Came to Town, Peter Faulk stars as Max, the angel of many disguises

Max and a female angel are in town to help a young man that cares nothing about family values and is trying to save his fathers blown glass ornament business and he cares nothing for family values.

There is also a young woman, struggling to make manager position in a mom and pop store that is going out of business because of the big discount store that opened. She desperately needs the promotion because she wants to adopt her 12 year old brother who has been in foster homes since both parents died in a car accident when they were very young.

While the sister is giving a coat, scarf and boots to a homeless woman her brother runs away, and when she is on TV asking him to come home, she states the whole meaning of the movie in one sentence. This quote is the reason for my blog post.

"Do what you can when you can to make someone feel better."

The comment made me think of the golden rule. , Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Unforunately, there is a new golden rule. I saw it on a church sign this week.
"Whoever has the Gold, Makes the Rules." Forget others, think ME

I will rest my case with a few quotes from Mother Teresa

"If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”
“We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.”

“It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.”
“One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody.”

BE SOMEONES ANGEL THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON

A beautiful blog, not just in appearance but in content. Mother Teresa was a rare woman in this world today. I am quite sure she is in heaven with our Lord and Savior. She was just a simple, humble little woman, but what an effect she had in this world.... We all need to look around and see who we can help in our neighborhood and it will spread and spread and spread. Play it forward.......God bless. Keep up these wonderful blogs. All of your readers appreciate you so much for your insight.

Beautiful, tender and thought provoking post Sandra. We do a lot of community care through our church. Its only right to help those in need.
To answer your question about the big, old metal thing...I haven't a clue! There were many things laying around in the ghost town of Bodie, CA. and I just loved the character and perspective I got from this piece of metal.

Great post, you are so right. But what I want to know is; what church posted that awful sign? No denomination that I can think of. I think I may have seen this movie long ago. Was Peter Falk a rather shabby angel? By the way, I
Googled Harry Dean Stanton, and what I found out was rather sad. He does not believe in God. How ironic considering he played an angel. That might make for a good follow up post. In an interview, he said that the best he can hope for after death is nothingness like before he was born.

If each of us were to help only one we together would be helping many.

This was a good movie, I love Peter Falk in any movie. Great quotes from Mother Teresa, she was a great woman.
