Coffee and Senior Moments

Our coffee pot turns itself off after 2 hours, this means my last 2 cups of coffee need to be zapped in the microwave.
I am sitting at the computer, pick up my cup for refill, phone rings, grab the phone, continue on to kitchen while talking. Place coffee in microwave and come back to computer still talking.

I hang up and answer a few  emails. Hubby comes home from the park, says what's beeping?
OH, that's my coffee. I say well it's cold by now, I forgot it was  in there. I tap 55 seconds in and stand and wait.

Guess What???? open the door and NO COFFEE in the cup. I had zapped the empty cup, not ONCE but TWICE!

Moral of this story is: if you are a Senior do not talk on phone while filling your coffee cup. Multi Task is for the YOUNG!
Can anyone out there relate?

Yes. I mean No. I mean Yes. I don't drink coffee. I have not yet put an empty cup in the microwave (not that I can remember, anyway). I have put other things in there though and forgot about them. Or put the kettle on for a cup of tea, and left that to get cold. Or poured the water over the tea and left that to get cold (and very strong). I am grateful I have machines that turn themselves off, and things that beep to remind me!

Oh... Very appropriate Word Verification turned up when I scrolled down: "spilly"

Not me! I don't have senior moments. I have intellectual overloads!! Doesn't that sound better? At least you knew where your coffee cup was. I frequently lose mine altogether!

Best,
Bonnie

Sadly more than I can remember to admit ;)
I have a habit of returning the milk jug to the microwave instead of the refrigerator...time after time !

Hi Sandra, How funny ---and of course, I relate... One of us is always losing or missing something... I will ask George if he has seen my coffee cup (or something)... We'll look and look ---and guess what, it was right there on my desk where I said it wasn't... This seems to happen to us ALOT....

OR --I'll start an email --and then get distracted and not get back to it... About 12 hours later when I'm ready to go to bed, and I'm logging out, that email appears..... ha ha .... Oh the joys of getting old....

Great post.
Hugs,
Betsy

At first I thought you were going to put the phone in the microwave instead of the mug, you did GOOD!! I left a glass of water on the linen closet shelf when I was looking for something. For a whole day, I couldn't find my water.

My coffee maker is the same way with the two hour thing. It is set very early to be ready when hubby gets up to go to work. I turn mine back on.

I'm not sure if they are senior moments, blond moments or over multi-tasking. I have been known to have almost a dozen tasks going at the same time...... usually I have to remind myself to slow down.

Well, I thought your last post, (which I read first) made me chuckle, or was that someone else's blog, no it was yours. Anyway, now I'm really laughing, but I can't remember why!

Oh yeah! You know I can relate! My thing is walking from the kitchen to the bedroom to get something. Then I stand there and say, what did I come in here for? It will not come to me. So I go back to the kitchen. About that time I remember what I went for! Before I retired, I would be sitting at my desk working. I would get up and walk to another area for something???, get there. Same thing.... Could not remember what I was there for. Went back to my office and sat down and remembered what I wanted. Several of us at work who were suffering from the same malfunction decided that our brain must be in our butt, because when we sat back down, we remembered!!! :-)

I've been known to put clothes in the dryer and then forget to start it. Duhh!
